Or better yet, take the phones away. Jennifer Garner tells her kids they can have a phone as soon as they show her the research that shows they are anything but harmful to the teenage brain and mental health.

if the phone isn't charged, no one bothers you. Like it was pre-1990......if you weren't near a wall phone. You went through your day uninterrupted. That's a good thing.

I spent a week with my grandchildren this summer, it wasn't even that they didn't charge there phones it seems that the multiple charges in there home mysteriously vanished, that's a segment for another day. There like babies pacifiers, LoL

The worst is when you're at an airport and discover it's not charged. But no problem because: I'M BRILLIANT I have a phone charger and chord in my carry-on that's with me. Then I cannot find an outlet. Roll my carry on all around the terminal. OK, eventually you can find one, but both plugs are in use by the teens sitting on the floor next to it.

Waking up to an uncharged phone is fixed by hooking up to a portable power bank, there is even solar ones. I have suffered worse tragedies, an old Samsung Galaxy s3 deciding to no longer have a working screen, and accidentally running over an s8 after dropping it between semi truck tires (couldn't get to it, had to move the truck but it was a bad decision). And needing a smartphone for work, 50% battery is my trigger alarm threshold to charge up.

This piece made me LOL. I've got to believe that you'll likely find Gen Xers are pretty conscientious of plugging in (though ironically, I forgot to plug in last night.... 2nd time ever) and I carry around a lipstick charger when I'm going to be out and about without access to a plug (like a full day at Disneyland). Here's the answer: wireless charging. That means you don't even have to plug anything in. Yay! Problem solved! Oh wait! Your kids will lose those too. It was wishful thinking...

This is funny, but as for my own self, I never pay that much attention to my android or laptop. Probably because I was born not long after 1958, and was in my forties by then time androids came out. I mainly use my devices for you tube: watching TV shows of 1960s-1980s, and listening to songs I like. Nothing good is on my tv.

We are grandparents, and we keep a charging station in the kitchen. It's used, but now my wonderful, beautiful grandchildren must ask for the charging cord. After discovering we were spending a lot for cords to replace the ones they took with their phones, they must ask for and return the cord. If you don't I will call their mothers to search their rooms for at least 2 cords for each child. Surprise, we no longer purchase charging cords by the gross. . .

@@gregoryjgarcia3862 I use Obsidian notes synced with my self hosed Nextcloud server. All my pictures are automatically synced to the server as well so losing my phone isn't catastrophic.
