The very worst was when he was so pissed at Pam for not recording Cece at the recital. By that time she was almost in the role of being a single parent
to be fair many of the slightly more supportive characters in the show have all said some pretty mean stuff. i think people like to focus on Jim cause he's so arrogant and smudge.
I mean...this video is basically just season 9 Jim. In season 9, Jim was sick of his boring life and was confused as to whether chase his dreams or continue living a somewhat mundane life in Scranton
His dreams were also something completely contradictory to what his previous opinions of his job, not to mention contradictory to his past character development of not actually enjoying being a boss...
@@KPTKleist if he was a single man with no one depending on him I would agree, I went back to college after a three year absence, then took a job abroad shortly after I graduate and now am going to law school in my mid 30s. But did this as a single man with 0 kids. Jim doing what he did was selfish and putting himself ahead of his family. If I had a wife and kid I would not have done or been able to do what I did.
@@LegendMkr7 you're correct and people not understanding these things is one of the many reasons divorce rates are so high. People's values/priorities are all messed up.
@@KPTKleist that type of thing doesn't always work out, when you're a family man you really shouldn't play the long game. If you have something secure then gambling on more it can be the difference between a better life or living in a studio apartment with a wife and kid. Types of risks you can't or shouldn't make alone.
He didn't screw everything up. He sure didn't help, but still. Pam stayed loyal to Jim when it mattered. She was feeling isolated from the person that agreed to be her partner for life.
The roommate episode boiled my blood, especially how they basically had Darryl apologize to Jim when Darryl was completely in the right. The scene where Jim used Darryls coffee thermos and was mockingly asking "what, should I clean it for you?" Yes Jim, yes you fucking should because it's not yours and you used it without permission. Clean it, put it back, don't touch it.
season 8 and 9 turned most of the cast into shallow versions of what they used to be. jim and pam's fights are ridiculously out of character. I understand the counter point to that is that even the best couples have problems, especially in a scenario like Athlead. The problem for me is that I find it hard to believe that Pam not only doesn't already know Jim's ambitions, but also wants to keep him from going after them. granted they have 2 young kids to raise, but to Jim's point that's why he's pursuing Athlead. I just wish that they would have wrote Pam to finally become more ambitious and less scared to make changes like earlier seasons - before she had Jim at her side.
@@Ryan-qv9se I know :( It would have been refreshing for them to find a resolution/compromise so they had their happy stable life together and Jim had his actually successful dream job, with Pam being brave to make that life happen where it needed to. There's no reason that Dunder Mifflin is the only place to have a peaceful career and good life foundation (imagine, me, an Office fan saying that XD). And Jim being a dang better father and husband too, gosh dang! I totally agreed that they just seemed like shallower versions of themselves in this season. No shade to the writers, just fun to dissect!
Their relationship struggles were the best thing about season 9 imo. The most heartwarming moments in The Office are the ones where Jim and Pam “fall for each other” (when Jim asks Pam out after the interview, when Jim proposes to Pam, when they get married). The DVD of Jim & Pam at the end of season 9 is a wonderful moment, and it’s made all the more wonderful by the tension built up throughout the season. Just my two cents though. You’re absolutely right about Andy. He was great until season 9 :/
@@2im36 I’m not stupid, I know real couples fight And I get they were trying to show all marriages have ups and downs. But their execution of it was terrible
I'm very glad Season 9 showed Jim and Pam fighting. I was getting really tired of seeing them constantly get along and people fantasizing about having their relationship. Couples fight in real relationships.
Yeah, but its definitely not fun to watch. Who wants to see the relationship they've watched for years being built up start crumbling in front of them? The point of the show WAS Jim and Pam in the early seasons, so to have that being torn down isn't enjoyable.
them fighting and having real relationship struggles is one thing but the whole bringing in the boom mic guy and trying to write pam cheating right before the show ends to get a cheap reunion on the final episodes was awful and gives such a bad taste for this couple goals weve been watching develop for so long. it was the most uncomfortable part of the show for me, the office can be brutally awkward but was mostly just over the top and fun and this was just brutal and felt forced to add in last minute drama to flip the whole show upside down right before it ended
@@TheLp640fan when did Pam cheat or even think of cheating ? The mic guy was there only to show that Pam had to turn to someone else for emotional support instead of her husband, this revelation is what started the much delayed difficult conversation between them
@@blokvader8283 yeah but when Jim & Pam finally sort their differences, that scene when Pam goes to return Jim's umbrella and Jim just hugs her, I've got to give credit to the writers for that, all the build up was worth it
It never happened in the show but the writers were going that route but they got so much pushback from everyone that they changed the script. They tried to have Jim cheat with Kathy too but John Krasinski refused to let that happen
It’s really hilarious seeing Jim in situations when people are pissed at him you can tell he’s use to people liking him and doesn’t know how to react when they do he just freezes up and flees 😂
Oh sure you're absolutely right, who freezes when all your classmates give you ugly looks for being angry? That only happens to gross people; Have you ever really worked in your life? Because if you say that, it means that you have never done it because that in a normal and ordinary job happens every day
Also the fact that literally every woman Jim has ever dated (or tried to date) on this show besides Pam is someone whom he used as a distraction from Pam. Katy, Brenda, Karen...any others?
@@mw3463 Brenda was from corporate, and she came to view Michael's "presentation" in "Booze Cruise." And Jim's asking her out over the phone was presumably soon after he dumped Katy because he was distraught over the setting of Pam and Roy's wedding date. He had previously asked out Katy because of some jealousy of Roy over Pam. See the pattern?
Pam gave a thought and broke off her engagement because of Jim, she didn't continue art school because she wanted to be with Jim, she became a single parent when Jim went to follow his dream, still at the end she was said that anyone could do anything for Jim. She actually did a lot than necessary.
@@samarpitachakraborty1698 bro she failed you really think if she failed art school pam is the type of character to try again. There is no way even if she wasn't dating Jim. Plus were did she say that
Pam's engagement had gone on for years with a man who always put her last, sure she ended because of her feelings for Jim but that relationship was a train wreck before Jim showed up. Pam also just failed art school and even with Jim trying to support her through it gave up on her dreams because she wasn't sure about it. Then when Jim decided he wanted to follow his own dream Pam got in his way and tried to make him give up his dream for her which just isn't fair as Jim supported her throughout Art School. Honestly I found Pam to be the unlikable one in season 9 which might not be entirely her fault since she was saddled with the boom guy story but honestly her character seemed way more self absorbed than she used to be and even laughed off that she hadn't kept her word to Jim to record the recital, sure Jim's reaction might have been a bit nuts but Pam was the one who didn't come through and decided to laugh about it.
@Dead Evermore Honestly, here's my opinion~ it seems to go back to Pam not making good life choices haha. By choosing to be with Roy and leaning into the self-pity of it all while consciously not choosing to find a better situation (and hurting Jim with her wishywashyness), and being stuck in life for a while there (which can be understandable), and pining over her dreams but resisting them when they're available to her.. Sets her up pretty horribly for smooth sailing. Even just her maturity of character. Then Jim, who's shown his indifference and subtle selfish impulsive behaviors even in this video~ Although every human has these weaknesses in some form, and can never truly mature from all bad behavior *completely*. Despite the merit to pursue the job he's motivated for, it just comes out in an exaggerated attitude for the show's buildup. I still will feel bad for Pam in season 9 when I rewatch it, because in the moment it's unfair to her how things come out, despite that it's fair for Jim to be encouraged to do what he loves (when he can do it in a way that's fair to the family he's started), although it's mainly become a problem because of their developed character flaws and poor management of the trial they faced as a family. (I will say it's sad that Pam was being a team player (to her best ability within reason) and a working mom but still doubted her value to her husband because his more recent behaviors had made her out to be not enough for him and his point of anger/disappointment.)
......Jim and Pam being adorable couple for season 1-8 Audience- They don't seem real ........Jim and Pam having relationship troubles that most couples do after marriage Audience - The writers ruined it. Jim is being such a jerk.
Also if you look back at the other seasons, Jim was frequently dishonest and occasionally selfish. So what happened in season 9 didn't seem unreasonable to me.
@@KPTKleist Kids do bring in a twist in that equation. Mothers taking care of their children when the husband is away dont deserve unnecessary complaints.
I think writers did a good job in season 9 as well...it would have been boring, if everything was always happy. I mean not even life is like that, and this made it really realistic and connectable to me. I never had any problemwith Jims character. He was just a usual funny guy. Neither had any problem with Pams character. They are both in my Fav characters.
i love this video and it shows how Jim acts out when he feels conflicted. Being out of control in any situation doesn't mean you get to treat others bad
it really bothered me when Jim sent Andy into an emotional wreck by taunting someone who had clear anger issues. Then when Andy went and got help for the problem and asked to be referred to Drew. Jim flat-out refused and seemed like he egged him on more.
also the 'prank' where andy projected his relationship troubles onto jim and pam and then jim pretended to be his friend for a day. andy was actually so sweet when jim started 'opening up' to him, would it really have been so hard to say 'stay out of my relationship' instead of stringing him along pretending to rely on him?
@ace-cb9op That episode ended with jim telling Andy the stuff he needed to hear, I can't really remember what it was but I know it was helpful to andy
I think the worst moment isn't making pam cry but when cee cee had lice and she had to deal with it while jim lied about how his day was going. Pam sacrificed way more during the athlead arc. And don't get me started about the investment with their savings. Literally, the worst. Not only her emotional stability but his whole families financial stability too.
it's not like he was doing it all for himself you know? 😂. Pam has failed every single thing shes tried in her life only to create a fake job "office administration" to get her life on track. if she can't help with money least she can do is support her husband 💀
lmaoo also when they were debating if hillary swank was hot and angela said she wasnt gonna participate and jim was like “no one cares” i literally love when angela gets put in her place
I enjoy Jim’s lightheartedness but he was a bully to Dwight. And to say that he deserved what he got goes to show he thinks it’s okay to constantly harass him as such. Luckily Dwight is thick skinned so Jim really does get off easy.
Was he tho? Many people likes to remember it like Jim just bullied Dwight, but it was in both ways, Jim pranked D because he was annoying to him and almost everyone in the office all the time thinking he was better than everyone in every aspect, so, it's not like he was defenseless and just a little weird
@@chamstorms69 Yeah he thought he was better than them and was annoying but that doesn’t justify bulling anyone. They’re at a work place and dude spends most of him time pranking him. Of course he got away with most of it cuz Michael. Dwight’s try win over Jim was during there snowball fight. Didn’t get pelted with enough snowballs tbh.
@@Fonzolicious210 guess we can ignore all the times Dwight was horrible to Jim? Or all the times he’s attempted to get him fired, in trouble or straight up insults him. Gotta stop thinking it’s Jim bullying Dwight. A superiority complex along with straight up annoyance. Dwight straight up deserved it
It doesn't seem fair to put all the blame on him on that one. He was dating someone else, who sees Pam as someone to worry about(and she was right, Jim wasn't over Pam and used her as a rebound), so had Jim gone there it would be either with Karen which would be awkward or by himself which would jeopardize his relationship with Karen. In fact there's a deleted scene where Karen rips up a flyer for the exhibit
sure. and how would he explain that to Karen. Remember, their friendship was strained to non-existent. m was dating seriously Karen. At that point he really did not owe Pam anything except as a co worker
@@stevenwilliams1310 bruh I ain't saying I'm blaming the hangover, I'm saying that they should've wrote their character better because season 8 and 9 was litterally one of the seasons we should've enjoyed the most😑
Andy comes from a WASP family where all the family members are basically strangers. His brother was a alcoholic and had no idea, so he went with his brother to sell the family yacht and get him sober on the trip back and forth. It was probably the first time someone in Andy's family didn't throw money at the situation and Erin's problem with it was he didn't bring her along. Erin was completely emotionally stunted and took as it some sort of insult because she's a orphan and has no concept of family leaning on each other. She literally looked at like he went to Disney land without her and started cheating on him as Andy was doing something for his brother that no one else in his family would do for him. That's my interpretation of it, but in reality it was lazy writers that figured they'd throw in some sensationalism and have Erin find new love for higher viewership at the time. The show started dropping downhill during season 5 and probably should've stopped at season 6 or 7.
Jim gets bored and acts out. He usually uses up that energy by increasingly complex pranks on Dwight. But when he doesn't let off steam, He makes HUGE impulsive acts. And without talking to Pam.
I feel like when Jim says “I’m doing this just for me, that’s what you think this is?” Honestly the answer is yes! He’s the only one that wanted to do the whole Philly thing so yeah, he was doing it for himself.
Hmmm i mean it was an opportunity to get a huge amount of Money. I wouldn‘t call that selfish, when you have two children. He wanted a better life for His whole Family. And yes of course the fact that he got to do something, what he Likes, Played a role, But it weren‘t only selfish reasons.
just because he’s the only one that wanted to do the athleads thing doesn’t mean that it wasn’t for the best for his family when all is done college is paid for and their will be more money to give his family a better life. he’s even quoted pam being a gold digger so he’s doing this to give his family a better quality of life
Jim literally only did the Athlead thing because he was bored of his very good life. The money and all that stuff was just a side effect of his selfishness. If it really was about the money and their family he would've talked to Pam about it
They really just made Jim a jerk. like with Cece's recital, it wasn't a big deal, obvi he can be sad about it but he can't just take his anger out on Pam over such a small thing because that's not how Jim used to be
@@johnjson I think it was realistic. When things are hard people are more stressed and even small things can make them snap. Especially here when Jim was already feeling awful and he was looking forward to seeing his daughter's recital.
How was it "terrible"? Please elaborate. Because I thought it was well done and a very realistic portrayal of how stress can cause happily married couples to act out of character
This could easily be a series on RU-vid. Just a compilation of clips of each character being awful because they all were in their own way. That's not to say that they're all bad people because I don't think that's true (except maybe Angela?), but they all have their moments where they are not quite so palatable.
Thank you!!! Just being gentle and making jokes doesn’t mean you’re actually a nice person. The way he treated Pam after he got his new job, forever put a bitter taste in my mouth.
Is no one going to talk about how we all would have reacted similarly to how Jim reacted when Michael fell into the pond? I try and help people as much as possible, but even I would have reacted similarly to how Jim reacted.
Right?? Couples have arguments, and that is reflected in the show. It’s probably because everyone watching expected Pam and Jim to be the “perfect couple”, so once something happened it was Jim’s fault
Agreed but I like that they show that. Every relationship romantic or not takes time and there are going to be a lot of bad days, disagreements, and arguments. It won't always be sunshine and rainbows but that's what makes life beautiful
I think despite people commented on JIm's smudgeness so much, many clips or highlights on RU-vid mostly only pointed the mistakes that other characters or supporting characters did, and often put Jim out of the spotlight. That's why I kinda like this rare video that encompass moments when JIm was being a normal person and not some sort of special person that this show wanted to entirely protect. Kinda nice to see him being on the wrong side sometimes.
Creed:. So, there I am. Jake comes up and offers me five bucks to call Dwayne by his real name. Jake is a chump. I would have done it for anything. I've done a lot more for a lot less.
I liked Karen and felt if circumstances were different her and Pam would have been excellent friends. I loved the pranks. Best part of the Office. They had me laughing so hard. As for the house Jim was afraid Pam may not like him buying the house but, he also wanted to do a huge surprise for her after being away at art school. It can be taken two ways. Some might hate that he bought the house that way and some may see it as a sweet gesture. I liked Jim. He was funny and fun early on. In later seasons as he matured he got kind of boring. But, my favorites have always been Dwight and Creed
I don’t think in buying the house is the worst move like yeah he didn’t tell her but like it means that they can live together and they can be together sooner and they don’t have to wait as long because he wanted to be with her so much and finding another house can be hard. Karen and Pam I think would’ve also been really good friends because of how good they were when they like planned that Christmas party together like they worked well together
Creed was always the best, and later Dwight also became really entertaining. I also liked Robert California- I think the comedy really improved as the drama got worse.
I thought Jim was a complete jerk in season 2 when he didn't invite Michael to his party. He literally invited everyone from the office except for the one guy who wanted to be his best friend. I could understand if it was season 1 Michael, but season 2 Michael just wanted some friends.
Michael's the jerk too, same reason Ryan didn't invite Michael to that camping trip. I keep visioning how that would've turned out, had he been invited, over and over, Michael would be the worst guest.
i think that was one of my least favorite Michael moments. he was snooping around his employee's personal messages and then tried to guilt Jim into an invite which was so annoying to me. besides he was better than last season but was still a jerk and nobody really liked being around him. just because someone is desperate to have friends doesn't mean they're entitled to them
Hey honestly I think this was all great writing. Characters are going to be 3 Dimensional like this. It feels really pretty shitty when he's low, but it makes him relatable. I mean we all have low points, things we should've done differently. I think this is fantastic character writing for a main character, and it makes watching the show a bit more realistic. Also I don't think there're a lot of situations wheres it outright Jim being a bad person (atleast in terms of his Season 9 Pam issues). It feels like an overreaction sure, but never entirely unjustified.
I really think Jim plays an integral role as the straight man in the show, but I also think it’s really out of character how many times he just acts like an unjustified jerk. Think of how many times his pranks against Dwight are completely random and not in response to anything we have actually seen Dwight do.
@@jeremylee48 it doesn’t matter if it’s a comedy, I don’t have to like every single characteristic about a character just because it is. And there are a lot of huge fans of the show who don’t like Jim being a jerk either. You should keep up on audience opinion of the show more.
The moment where he breaks up with Kate is genius. It’s not him being a jerk. It’s him being totally and utterly depressed. It shows how sad he has become watching Pam fall in love with someone else

What about when he didnt accept Andy's new name after he came back from his therapie. There, he was being really insensitive about Andy's mental state.
it always irked me how he treated andy despite knowing he clearly has anger issues - dwight would get mad at pranks but it was never one-sided and even though he hated jim dwight hardly lost sleep over it. andy thought they were friends and jim kept pushing him to his limits just because he found him annoying
What if it wasn't a house, but a all-inclusive 2 wk trip to Greece or a Cherry-red Corvette. It sounds good on paper, but when it is purchased behind one spouse's back with both marriage partner's money ---thats when it is a red flag.

Apparently Pam and Jim having relationship issues is enough to get the camera crew involved but not all the million illegal things the rest of the office workers have done XD
I never really liked the whole boom operator actually being in camera, I liked the mystery of the people behind the docs but at least we got some background of them near the end of the show
Tbh I don’t think we could call him “the worst”, even in those times. He’s the most “normal” character on the entire sitcom series, he messes up and if we hate him on those moments is because we know that these are mistakes that we could make. Jim was a bully to Dwight, but he was also a bully to Michael. My theory has always been that he did it to seem cool on camera, going out of his way to come up with elaborate pranks the way most reality tv stars fake drama for more screen time.
I think it was to impress Pam and make her laugh, he didn't feel like he had much of a purpose there. I noticed this when Pam wasn't working because of the kids. He was trying to make stanley laugh, so we had the meatballs thing. I think he's constantly trying to get approval and admiration from others and Dwight unfortunately has to pay the price
Everyone dogging on Jim for that phonecall with Pam have obviously never been in a long-term, committed relationship. Those types of arguments are inevitable in any relationship under high stress and pressure.

I also don’t understand how they can act like Jim was hurting innocent victims, I see it mainly with Dwight and Micheal like they’ve done some pretty shitty things themselves. And I question if they even watched the show cause I recall an arc where Jim does feel bad for all the pranks he’s pulled on Dwight.
Jim leaving his family for several weeks/months in a row to chase his dream, having Pam do all the childcare in the meantime while also working herself, and then getting mad at Pam for not filming a recital he couldn't bother attending was... frankly disgusting.
Pam chasing her dream for several weeks/months before in New York? The ability to hire a nanny like when they learned Morse code despite having kids? Having Pam fail at a simple task despite her assurances that she could do it and let’s be honest Pam would be just as mad at Jim if the roles were reversed. His worst moment for me is when Andy comes back from anger management and ask Jim to call him Drew and Jim refuses immediately. A lot of the stuff in this video is still bad but we're all people and make mistakes but being an ahole to Andy in that moment was just to be one.
While i do understand that pam & jim aren’t the perfect couple and that couples fight. Him saying “This is what we agreed on” at 7:43. Well duh what else is she supposed to agree on when you already said yes and gave money, not giving her that many options Jim
I'm torn. On one hand, regarding the recital, yes it was an incredibly simple task and she was a jerk for answering her phone in the middle of the recital (disruptive). I think she was subconsciously trying to punish him. Despite the reason for him missing it, I would have been irritated, too. However, she was also correct that Jim doing Athlead was for largely selfish reasons, despite what he claims and she was essentially a single parent. Yes, she did ultimately agree to it, but Jim forced her hand. But I also think Jim was right when he said if he waited for Pam to make decisions, things would never happen. She's so passive, it's infuriating. Buying the house without telling her wasn't cool, who cares if he made an art room in the garage? I don't think Jim or Pam is the "worst," I think they're human and they were put on pedestals by fans and the writers/showrunners for so long people forget that.
Finally a reasonable person that understands that everyone makes mistakes and can have bad moments but doesn’t mean they are bad people. S9 Pam and Jim had problems that were caused by unsolved issues and lack of communication
Still pisses me off that pam was so uptight about him pursuing athlead when Jim had zero problems and was completely supportive of pam with her art school BS.
Explain to me why wanting to be something more than just a paper salesman is something Bad? Why don't we talk about how Pam wouldnt support him into doing something he loved, and that would bring so much benefits to the family, by just going with him to philly? Just so she could stay in her comfort zone?? Yeah, that was truly thoughtful from Pam. He had to let go his dream in order to save the relationship. Fortunately it ended really well when she finally decided to support him and move to Texas
I love how real life is the worst 🤣 this is real life. This is mistakes people make, especially about the phone call between Pam and Jim. They both were under immense amounts of stress being apart and working and pam having to take care of everything. This is how relationships go sometimes 🤷♂️
Pam looking off-camera at the boom mike guy was a nice moment, like she's so flabbergasted she can't help but acknowledge the crew and bring them into what just happened. Then it got weird. "Turn off the cameras, guys, SERIOUSLY." Oh shut up, Brian, whoever you are.
“jim became a jerk in season 9” Jim was always a jerk. he was an adult bully who used all the women in his life and thought of himself as better than everyone else despite being in the exact same position. he kisses pam after she turns him down TWICE (sexual assault, btw) while she is in a relationship, and he constantly says dwight “deserves” to be bullied for being “annoying”. which is basically just because dwight has a hard time with people skills, doesn’t understand social cues, has “weird” interests, is brutally honest and seemingly unaware of people’s emotional reactions (which are all signs of autism, so it’s worth considering what jim is really making fun of).
