@@cristobalvalenzuela238 He's been making new music for a little while, he did take a break and was only doing paintings. He posts new music and has his discography available on his bandcamp. The discog is very inexpensive considering how much comes with it.

He was definitely one of the pioneers, influenced heavily by works of Tolkien, various symphonic works, and 80s metal he made a very distinct sound. I wouldn't try to say that my word as a consumer is the defining line on the matter and there may have been some before him with a similar goal. But I personally consider him to be the father of dungeon synth as we know it today. He created captivating melodies & movements and applied them to tried and true rhythms and chord progressions popular with metal at the time. There were a many of synth artists in the late 80s though the way it was applied varied widely and simply put a lot of musicians/bands weren't sure exactly where to really utilize the sounds they were making.

When I listen to this I don't really hear dungeon synth, I hear Tangerine Dream. Which is very synth, but not very dungeon. So the dungeon bit might be more about the package and less about the content. In my opinion, Mortiis laid the foundations of the genre, a few years later.
