My point of view will differ but I reckon I like Black Sabbath the same. No shitty songs. I'm born in 76 so started with the Doors in 93 but I can count in less than one hand a band that I like almost every song.
I am addicted to this song... it is so dark and sinister, but about love and loss... only 2 chords too! Just absolutely incredible, the poetic approach to singing is brilliant!
JIM MORRISON, poet and philosopher, rendering one of his poetic works and musical creations and accompanying himself on the piano... great and timeless! Greetings to the Doors family around the world from Germany Michael Hontheim
@@bigtoelittlefinger6133 Hi there! Greetings back from Germany to magical KELTICA! Alba agus Éirinn go brách! (Scotland and Ireland forever!) The sister countries Scotland and Ireland are second homes to me in my heart and mind for 22 years now. (My last visit in Scotland - so far - was in 2018 when I joined one of RUNRIG`s farewell concerts in Stirling.) Sláinte! Michael
Well, I used to know someone fair She had orange ribbons in her hair She was such a trip She was hardly there But I loved her Just the same There was rain in our window The FM set was ragged But she could talk, yeah We learned to speak And one year Has gone by Such a long long road to seek it All we did was break and freak it We had all That lovers ever had We just blew it And I'm not sad Well, I'm mad And I'm bad And two years Have gone by Now, her world was bright orange And the fire glowed And her friend had a baby And she lived with us Yeah, we broke through the window Yeah, we knocked on the door Her phone would not answer Yeah, but she's still home Now, her father has passed over And her sister is a star And her mother smokes diamonds And she sleeps out in the car Yeah, but she remembers Chicago The musicians and guitars And grass by the lake And people who laughed And made her poor heart ache Now, we live down in the valley We work out on the farm We climb up to the mountains And everything's fine And I'm still here And you're still there And we're still around
Step 1: buy a piano Step 2: play a C octave in your left hand and C and E flat in your right hand grooving with the rhythm. Step 3: sing the lyrics any way you want as long as you put your heart and soul in it. Step 4: repeat Congratulations, you can now play the doors and sing along ;)
I discovered the Doors in the early 90s, I can say they saved me in high school! How the hell have I not heard this before!!! I'm kind of glad tho as always discovering a new song by the doors was always hauntingly beautiful. What a great reminder of that feeling!
This is such a magical song and its soulful lyrics, it sounds like hes singing it about Pam, I'd like to think so, such a beautiful song, love the lyrics .its s perfect
There will be sad days, and today is one of those days. Shadows dance in my heart, painting a desolate landscape. Tears, silent companions, flow like the incessant rain on a gloomy afternoon. The weight of sadness settles in, enveloping me in a cold embrace that suffocates the hope of seeing you. In the echo of silence, painful memories resurface like ghosts from the past, bringing forth the melancholy that hides in the deepest corners of the soul. Each sigh seems to carry the burden of disillusionments, and words, once sweet, now echo like a sad lament. The sky, once full of promises of a better tomorrow, is shrouded in heavy clouds, reflecting the turmoil of emotions within me. Colors have lost their brightness, and the world around me has turned into a gray landscape, where sadness blends with the mist that obscures the view of a future that no longer exists for me. On this day of shadows, I seek solace in solitude, trying to decipher the mysteries of a broken heart. Each beat seems to echo the sad melody of a song that should never have been composed. The journey of sadness is lonely, but, who knows, maybe in the tears shed today, tomorrow will never be today. 😔
@hairdoggy because the lyrics are so unfinished, so raw, that's what makes this such a cool tune. A chance to look inside Jim's soul without all the filtering & editing. I love Jim Morrison, I remember the joy of hearing new Doors songs when I was buying all the albums as teenager. Hearing this has given me the same pleasure, many thanks for the upload, RIP Jim, you'll always be the Lizard King!
Thank you for this. The montage is beyond description. I have tears in my eyes seeing pictures of Jim & Pam happy. I think all in all that was very rare with them, unfortunately. Such short lives for such beautiful and creative souls. “True to his own spirit.”
@@seeableuniverse7623 he didn't play anything very complicated, but he did play the chords on this recording (i definitely read that in one of the books about him). and who can forget his 'ode to Nietzche' haha - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1RlrPV3cHag.html
but yeah, the book goes well into jim's poetic and philosophical influences and his dionysian way of living, its truly beautiful, i was captivated from day one, almost finishing the 500 page book in a week.. Its verry much in depth and tells soooooo many great wild and tragic stories from most of the many people that jim had enteractments with.
thats very true, jim gave her a lot of money that jim didnt really even care much about, he was more fo r the arts and supporting his friends and the people, he wanted to help people on a wide scale and even personally. He believed music was a powerful catalyst to change, but it ended up working against him... the book im reading, Break on THrough, THe life and Death of Jim morrison by james riordan and jerry Prochnicky, very awesome book, the most thourough and objective, biography Ive read
The recording was made in the USA. I think in 1969. Morrison had the tape with him. In Paris, in 1971, he did more or less record a version of 'Orange County Suite', but with some street musicians who play out of tune. That's another version, without piano. That's possibly the last recording of Morrison.
I really like how introspective and of the moment this is. Very cool. I miss Jim. He had one hell of a ride but I would think he could have done alot more great things of all kinds if he hadn't died. He's still out there I can feek it.
lol I feel too many people in the comment section put too much thought into "smokes diamonds" It's an expression of someone being rich & lost.Blowing money on empty ass shit like cars, diamonds, jewelry, drugs ETC. (NOT crystal meth lol) the expression of "smokes diamonds" I feel is just a poetic expression not to be taken literally , but of course Jim wants you to take it literally at first, but I think its a poetic reference as to the severity of this woman's problems, she smokes diamonds
Jim did the vocals alone in Paris & had musicians add sax, congas, bass, & wind chimes. After he died, Pam sold the tape to a producer, who then had Cher sing the lyrics, & dropped Jim’s vocals out of the mix. Elektra sued for possession of the original tapes & blocked release of Cher's version. The remaining Doors added their parts & deleted the sax, congas, etc. That's what this is. There's another mix w/ all the instruments, & one w/ Cher, but they’re hard to find. I'll pay top dollar for 'em

@jaggermorrison2010 I agree with you totally, I think a big reason why the doors are still so popular is because of the many different meaning to Jim's lyrics continuously attracts newer & younger audiences
Incredible recording. Chilling. The last picture is cool, it actually makes me think that Johnny Depp would have been better than Val Kilmer in the movie.
