@@shane49734 I did a column on Warrior for an old wrestling website called lordsofpain.net. The jist was to weed through all the bs on both sides and get to the root of what really happened. I originally updated Warrior’s wiki page from Arizona court transcripts to show that the “Summerslam hold up” was a fallacy made up by the WWE. I did think Warrior had a really good case. But reading court transcripts, Warrior’s attorney was completely outmatched. Vince’s attorney, Jerry McDevitt made mince meat out of Warrior’s case. With all of that said, Warrior was a pain in the ass to deal with. Warrior always did things on his time and did things his way. And sometimes, hed get riled about processes he didn’t understand. For example, a guy was filming a documentary on his life, Warrior demanded to be included on the details of the distribution. But there was no distribution and the guy who filmed was still trying to find a distributor. No matter how the guy broke it down for Warrior, Warrior didn’t seem to grasp it. Warrior ended up threatening legal action and the project fell apart. Warrior also did things like have the guy fly out to do interviews and Warrior would no show. Huge Warrior fan growing up. But id never want to do business with him outside of a one time appointment nce.

The only person he ever worked well with was Gary Hart in WCCW (Dallas) and that was because Gary Hart was 100% dedicated to him as a real-world manager. None of the other promotions he worked for had anything good to say about him. It was a combination of his lack of skill, his ego, his selfishness and his greed. He was only really every successful when the WWE was smashing him over every top heel in the company including Andre. 1) He was not an athlete, he wasn't interested in getting better and (looks aside) he was in horrible physical condition. He was an unhealthy guy who lived an unhealthy lifestyle. If anyone watches his last ever match, you can see how unhealthy he was and the long-term consequences of his abuse of his body. 2) The only way he was successful was by having his opponents carry him to good matches. But rather than understanding that he only looked good in the ring because other guys were being paid extra to make him look good, he was convinced it was his own greatness. 3) He was an awful guy in most respects. The kind of guy who would laugh at someone with a terminal disease or make a statement in public that dying was the best thing a certain person had ever done for their children. 4) In the ring, the bodies of his co-workers meant nothing to him. There is the famous bobby heenan story. Heenan, with a legit neck injury, goes to warrior before a match and asks him not to clothesline him. He works out alternative spots with warrior. They get to the match and Warrior blindside clotheslines him on the apron. He never explained himself. He never apologized. He never checked on Heenan after. Thats just the kind of guy he was. 5) He lived by a personal code of total selfishness. He was quite open about having no sympathy for anyone. And yet he would go himself fishing for sympathy among the public or his fans which made him a hypocrit.

People are completely missing the point of the "Warrior's father passed away" issue. If he had communicated that beforehand and asked for the time off, he certainly would have received it. Instead, he vanished, didn't attend the shows he was advertised for, didn't return phone calls, and then used the death as an excuse after the fact. Responsible adults communicate.... Warrior was being scummy af which he had a strong pattern of doing and he is rightfully being called out for it by people who were actually there. It's scary how many people would give him a free pass for virtually anything because they really liked his theme music growing up 🤣🙄

What is the WWE policy on bereavement? Who is Vince McMahon to say that that because Warrior hadn't seen his father in 10 years isn't able to grieve. Was Roman Reigns punished for leaving during Wrestlemania?
@Jim-Tuner
@Jim-Tuner 3 года назад
The policy for that sort of thing is usually to have time off for the funeral. Anything beyond that has to be negotiated with the company. There were multiple issues here: 1) Depending on whose version, warrior did or did not give notice that he was missing the shows. If he disappeared without notice, thats usually outside the bereavement policy. 2) Just before the no-shows happened, Warrior had blown up about the WWE using "always believe" in its marketing. Relations and history between the two sides were such that it was possible for the WWE management to think that warrior's no-shows were more a strike about the marketing thing than about his father. And generally corporate beveavement policies and negotiations about that sort of thing tend to get more complicated if the employee is having disputes with the company. And the situation with Roman Reigns was negotiated.

He simply got into a pissy mood and didn't want to make his house show dates as he'd been previously committed to contractually speaking, sir. He was in breach, which is grounds for dismissal. But people do deserve to be held to the same standard that they hold others to. Warrior didn't care about anyone. He publically laughed at the death of Heath Ledger and said that him killing himself was the best thing he could have done for his children. He laughed the public annoucement of Bobby Heenan's eventual fatal illness. And he did both those things after his fathers death. A lot of people say that Warrior was difficult to work with and trying to make more money at any opportunity but I dont think he was wrong at all. Pro wrestling has always been notoriously cut throat especially in those days and especially in the WWF. Most if not all of the wrestlers, promoters and office employees would stab you in the back and discard you in a heart beat if it was beneficial to them. The promoters were always screwing guys over and doing there best to pay them as little as possible or not at all. Because Warrior went against the grain a lot of people seem to talk bad about him.

Looking back it seems like he cared more about being right or winning a conflict over making the most money possible. Because he got his way in various demands but the money he demanded was substantially less than he’d have made had he worked for the years he didn’t work or spent suspended. Though, after seeing his taped footage in the recent A&E doc of his childish behavior while begrudgingly make a "fake" apology vid to a fan he offended....& taking all the stories from other veterans of how he was to work with & who he was as a person into account, yeah- I was a fan of his late 80's persona only, but he seemed to be one big asshole

When u have a big mouth like Helwig did.There will be a big back lash.He did disappoint and anger many many people.Even I remember him disappearing.I also remember Vince giving him too many chances.In and out of the ring.Helwig was very ignorant and rude.Still,Vince put in the hall of fame.

I'm guessing with Ole and Watts he probably would have been completely fired.

Warrior was an overrated flash in the pan who disrespected the business and everyone involved in the business. Best thing about him is he and his hateful heart are dead.

If Vince McMahon and Ultimate Warrior put personal and professional business aside on good terms and negotiate a better contract deal after Warrior delt with personal issues and grieving his father death. I believe the Ultimate Warrior would have make a good fit in the Attitude Era between 97-99 with his WCW "Warrior" persona with a more darker and charismatic edge with the magic smoke clouds and mirror see through appearance. Feature in many classic matches against Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, HHH, Mankind, The Undertaker and Kane making his career and legend more memorable and legendary than ever in the WWE/F and Attitude Era.

First Jim Ross said he didn't talk to his dad when he was 3. Then he said he said his da left when he was 12. Jim is too dumb to tell a story, that's why he can only announce what is happening. Us kids didn't care if the wrestlers told their boss they were leaving or not, we were all wondering where they were, like when hulk kept disappearing. Plenty of dudes no showed for worse reasons like drugs or car and motorcycles accidents while on drugs

When that music hit there wasn't a bigger pop in wrestling history. Except maybe 90k screaming fans at WM3. No one is perfect and Jim Helwig had his faults. He's no better or worse than guys like Terry Bolla...Hogan and Ric Flair. Both trash human beings.

This Guy absolutely hated Gay people he was very homophobic. He hated other wrestlers as well. He was very miserable. I love the Ultimately Warrior character. But I lost all respect for the human being playing him. Jim Hellwig. In wrestling he was the ultimate warrior. In real life he was. The Ultimate Miserable Man.
