I think he rents the guitars, unless he has hella money all the guitar he shows in his videos would be 50k+ to buy and keep that is insane, he might even be trading them or something. Maybe some are his but I doubt he owns every single guitar he shows.

I didn’t realise just how interesting and intricate the rhythm playing is on this song. Really intricate and clever. Solo has perfect phrasing. Well played. And Hendrix was a genius.
@Mr.Tabs.Guitar.Lessons
@Mr.Tabs.Guitar.Lessons 3 года назад
Just a couple notes about the song. The rhythm guitars in this are doubled, just from another take I did. I panned them stereo wise and liked the sound. I didn't choose a standard strum pattern for this one. I felt like aiming for note for note. Which was a challenge in some parts where the guitar is buried somewhat in the mix. Those who are looking to get everything in this song, it might take a while to memorize 😂. Best thing to do is to get the essential parts and do your own thing with that. And that is all. Enjoy!

I've been playing guitar for almost 10 years, and in this 10 years I've been lucky enough to know marvelous artists such as the Beatles, Eric Clapton, SRV.... all the legends, you name it. I also tried to study their playing styles - Lennon's grumpy rhythm, George Harrison's picking style that he adopted from Chet Atkins, SRV's aggressive train wreck bends, Kurt Cobain's unorthodox chord changes.... as times went by, I was able to imitate most of them if I tried very hard to practice. BUT the only exception is Jimi Hendrix. He had very little songs that came out during his tragically short career ( if you compare him to others like Paul McCartney), but if you listen to his live performances, you will notice that although he played ''Hey Joe'' for probably hundreds of times, each and every time he played, he'd came up with some new shits that no one has ever done before. My favourite one of his rendition is the Live at Berkeley "Hey Joe" - It's almost like everytime he play songs, he can somehow transfer the atmosphere around him, channeling those vibes onto his fingers and interpreted those feels perfectly, and I see little artists that can ever come close to this feat. Seriously, I can learn new stuffs everytime I listen to Hendrix's renditions, even though it's the same song from other performances. I cant remember how many times I had to pause, rewind and just to wondering how the hell he could improvise those licks without seemly any efforts. All the practices he had committed, and the times he spent with his guitar must've been insane. I've been listening to Hey Joe ever since I was a high school student, and it just never gets old. His name will be remembered for the posterity and his spirit will live on for the next hundreds of years to come. He is the Mozart of our times, no doubt.

To all of you: start with the chords, even just with the power chords to get into the groove. Learn the concepts behind of what Jimi is playing, plug them in one by one and write a couple of your own licks. Then, don't slavishly play it like that one time Jimi played it on the record. Vary your stuff. It's a playing style that asks for playing how you are feeling in the moment. Most important is staying in the chord progression and on time.

Hey I know this is an old comment. Not sure if you ever learned this song exactly like in the video but I had the same problem it was hard to remember cause the amount of variation. Some advice my friend told me. Learn the basic chord progression (it’s just the circle of fifths) and then add improve on the E it doesn’t have to be exactly what Hendrix plays as he probably never played it the same more than a few times. It seems obvious but it made it easier to think about. Hope it helps and if not maybe it’ll help someone else!

There's a RU-vidr called Greg who does a great Villanova Junction cover with the camera nicely focused on his hands. He has a great catalog of Hendrix covers. Even Pali Gap. Thanks to slo mo and rewind I find his covers to be a great way to learn. (I would provide the link but I don't know how to do that.) But do a search like "greg Hendrix" and you'll find him. The Vibratory is pretty good too, but not so focused on what his hands are doing. There's also Guitar Force which does a lot of Hendrix tutorials if you want it broken down. But personally I think Greg is a great resource.

Studio Recording vs live. Can't play that live and get that full sound without a rhythm player. You can hear the rhythm back track on here during the solo. Jimi was really good at going between rhythm and lead but it doesn't have such a full sound. Johhny B. Goode would be a good example too. Great job though man! I think you're content is top quality...great job and thanks for helping me figure out some fingering. Not sure if you have it but Voodoo Chile (Slight Return) studio version would be awesome. Everyone I've heard that plays a song any song they sound different everyone's not going to play the song the same unless they can read music and they're playing it from the sheet music I myself have been playing the guitar for many years and I'm not going to make a video and tell people how they should play the song I'm not looking for any RU-vid Fame I just like playing the guitar I'm not a teacher so I listen to everyone that puts out a video on a song and enjoy what they play
