Not even in 2018 can anyone come up with the tone or sound of Jimi Hendrix even with all the computer 💻 stuff we have now a days and tablature . He was a Great Genius.
A very important observation about the sound he produces. So many times he gets sounds out that I have never heard at all let alone intense powerful wails that defy my understanding of the equipment. He just had IT!
Check out Randy Hanson...he's a fantastic Hendrix artist... Best I've ever heard...note for note and his voice spot on...just give him a chance and see..
Jimi is the guitar 🎸 and the guitar is Jimi…. They are one ☝️ in the same. That’s why he is so special. Few people will ever understand this but his music will let you know. Knowing and understanding are not the same.
...one of the best full concert live recordings of Jimi's I've ever heard (whether an official or bootleg release) -- up there with the B.o.G. album!!!
To primanet. One track you missed is called TAX FREE first released on the posthumous lp ' War Heroes ' my favorite live take ( & there were quite a few ) was From the Jimi Hendrix Experience live at Winterland LP
This flows like the valleys of Neptune .. got me crying blue rain .. ships passing through the night .. a lullaby for the summer .. for me .. mr. bad luck lover man.
J'Mac ! If the tape speed was slow, this would sound at a higher pitch when played back. My guess is that he was tuned rather low, as he often did. One time I heard a version of Catfish Blues that was tuned very low, because he had a bad cold and couldn’t sing any higher.
If the tape speed is slow during recording then yes it would be higher pitch. If the tape speed were slow during play back then it would be a lower pitch. At this point he was tuning a half step low.In the band of gypsies he tuned a whole step low. He always did catfish Blues slow and deep sounding 🎸🎭🥁🕊🏴☠️😎
Where was Hendrix going musically after 1970 had he not died? I kind of see him getting mixed up in the Jazz fusion scene for the better part of the 70s. I would have appreciated the talent, but probably wouldn't have been the biggest fan at that point - but then again his best guitar work technically would probably have been that era.
j'mac you could be right ...this is a tricky one....when i play along foxy lady is f [seems highly unlikely usually f sharp] spanish castle magic on this appears to be i c whereas its always in c sharp so yeah especially the slow bit in sp ca mag seems too slow and that indicates the slight reduction in speed enough in fact to cause th music to be a semitone out quite a significant slowing of tape speed but not obvious until you notice [useful for analysis purposes though !]
in the comments section there is a setlist that mentions freedom as the last song played . freedom was not written until june 1970. i have a flac download of this great show and freedom is not included. freedom was not released on an album until the cry of love album. does anyone know what concert this version of freedom is from? it has to be one of the 1970 shows.
This doesn't sound like anything Jimi put out when he was alive. There was a bootleg double album from Berkeley I bought in Toronto, Ontario. The only good thing about that was a long Am, G and F jam, an instrumental, very easy for a beginner like me to get into.
That’s because Jimi didn’t release this material. Jimi didn’t record this material so he wasn’t aware of its existence. These are audience recordings. This cd as well as 2 other cds were released by UNIVIBES magazine and its publisher Caesar Glebbeek. At the time of these exclusive releases from UNIVIBES Alan Douglas was in charge of all Hendrix releases and gave his blessings for their releases. The cd releases were for a nonprofit charity and ALL proceeds went to that charity. A 4th cd was planned of unreleased Hendrix material but by then Alan Douglas was out of the picture and Experience Hendrix and Janie Hendrix were not cooperating with the release of a 4th cd. By the way Caesar Glebbeek was not pleased with bootleg copies of his releases as all money was to go to a charity not bootlegers pockets.
Good drum solo of Mitch in Catfish; in my opinion, Jimi should gave more freedom to him; obviously, Mitch wasn't at Ginger Backer level, but he had enough talent for drum solos
Trained jazz drummer(really shows in solo).. He was awesome back then, and the way he followed Jimi., perfect match!! He actually more or less pioneered the concept of drummer-guitar player synchronicity. Then came John Bohnam and took it the next level with Page(maybe because he was more technical & rock.. not jazz).
