JIMIN: FACE 🥵 [PT 1] || Full Album Reaction [+ Like Crazy MV] 

jimin said the album is about how he was during the pandemic, so i guess he was drinking a lot to drown out his worries about the pandemic, abt loss of friends/relationships, abt fear of losing fans, abt faking a smile in front of people… but towards the end he sobers up & has clarity. and Set Me Free is how he moves on from all the bad habits & also tries to be a renewed person as he comes out of his depression

Jimin said he wrote the lyrics honestly because he doesn't do it indirectly, so using alcohol as a coping mechanism when he was going through a tough time during the pandemic doesn't feel too far fetched. I hope people respect that and don't feel the need to jump and deny it. Your interpretation is as valid as another person's.

I am in love with this Jimin. Unafraid to express his feelings and it shows in his artistry. I LOVE THE WHOLE ALBUM!! I am so proud of him. I find myself bawling being so proud and happy for him.💜

I think it’s important to remember Jimin has mentioned in various interviews this album was written to express his emotions thru deep despair and depression during the pandemic. Also the set list is written chronologically as he went thru those emotions.

The way I interpreted the album, based on the lyrics, imagery and what Jimin himself has said; this was an album that touches upon his depression throughout the pandemic as well and his identity. Except for the hidden track (which reads exactly like a love letter), I interpreted the album as him questioning who he is. Rather than alcohol (although it can be a big part of it), it feels like he used to get drunk on the fame and his work, and not that he was without it he was questioning who he was without it. SMF, for example, touches upon how the expectations from outside sources made him suppress a lot of who he was but no longer. n his interviews over the last few days Jimin said that this whole album is inspired by how he was so depressed over the pandemic. He found not performing in front of fans so hard and there are many times over the pandemic there were behind the scenes videos were he said how hard he found performing without fans. Regarding Like Crazy, Jimin said that it’s about escaping reality to deal with one's wounds. The "she" he is referring to isn't necessarily about a love interest but possibly represents Jimin's Anima. We see a girl whose movements mirror Jimin in the mv, they never meet before Jimin cuts to looking at himself in the mirror. What does the Anima means? - An individual's true inner self that in the analytical psychology of Carl Jung reflects archetypal ideals of conduct. Your anima is the unconscious part of your mind that works automatically, without introspection or awareness. Some psychologists believe one’s anima affects your dreams, fears, and habits (loop this back to what the song is all about). The person with muddy hands who grabbed Jimin is Jimin himself. What do the mud represent? I'm not 100% sure, but my own personal reading is its Jimin's depression related to COVID (and the lack of live performances which he defined himself to) and long standing anxiety. These are the wounds mentioned but not elaborated by our baby. In the MV, Party Jimin is interrupted by the mud and he has to go home to Sad Jimin. Which of the 2 Jimin’s is in the real world? I haven't figured that out yet :( Maybe both of them are not, hence the dreamlike feel of the mv. Jimin himself asked not to be saved and not to be waken up from the dream. He doesn't want to go back to reality... This mv reminds me of Suga's SHADOW but we are dealing with a different part of the SELF here, one not explored by BTS yet. RM did PERSONA while Hobi did EGO. There's so much loneliness and desperation, under the cheery synthpop, I feel. He has said the dream he wants to stay in is BTS...so I took this song as a depiction of his anxiety during the pandemic, when they couldn't perform live, and he was feeling lost...he didn't want to be ripped from the dream, wanted to stay lost in the lights (of performing), didn't want the pandemic to break him. And I think the song also speaks of his other struggles, the tussles between his personas, etc. I felt it was so much deeper than I thought at the first listen. He has expressed those emotions so eloquently in his writing and conveyed them so effectively in his voice. Like Crazy is very, very queer coded to me, which is not something new for Jimin, by the way. The way the woman (both in the MV and the choreo) mirrors him, it feels like a fight between femininity and masculinity, with him embracing both in the end. That, along with the inclusion of Mapplethorpe (which he has referenced before in his photopholio) and a hinted at WLW couple, made me relate a lot. As a queer person, the shot of Jimin standing above a video of people kissing striked me as an image with such loneliness, feeling as if love is unattainable for you, not seeing yourself in any of the images of love out there, being alienated of everything people make love to be...Also, the Anima is an inner feminine part of the male personality. Hence the boy and girl kissing is probably Jimin's masculine and feminine side coming together.

♦Jimin mentioned that one of his fav movies “Like Crazy” inspired parts of the song aside from the title of song. In the beginning as well as ending to the song, he even samples excerpts from it. Jimin has also said that many of the songs on the album convey what he was going through, his thoughts, his feelings, his emotions as well as despair & depression, during the pandemic in the last few yrs. So this could also be during that time, thinking back while laying his head down, on table in that depressing small room, dreaming of the better times in the past, when he was free to enjoy himself, as wel as being with someone or with friends, or even around ppl in general, being able to be free to go out & party. Which is why he even said in the lyrics please don’t wake me up from this dream. I want to stay here.. Maybe that was what all the dirty grimyness also represented, despair of situation, how he felt or how things were at that time, even when it seemed to even ooze into his dream state.

Jimin has said this album is him expressing chronologically what he experienced during the pandemic year, from the toxic desire to stay in a dream (represented through the fictional lens of the story of the movie Like Crazy) to the desire to drown one's pain to escape, to the determination to break free in Set Me Free. He made a conscious choice to use figurative imagery and symbolism in these tracks, so I think it's a little dangerous to interpret all of it without taking that into account. He's also said he's completely past these emotions and struggles now. I'm hesitant to interpret anything beyond what he's told us, but I'm glad he feels he's moved past these darker emotions now and that it's safe to share them with us.

i love face off, the different beats in the song with that crazy circus type music in the background is emotional. the lyric were good. it was mud in his kitchen, mud running down the walls, i interpreted like mud in your house is like having sh*t in your house. he was alone and dreaming. oh sorry💜

Jimin has always been known for being a “heavier” drinker in bts. Personally I think it reflecting on a possible drinking problem, hopefully if it is then he has found a way out of it

Alright it's NOT about an alcohol promblem XD It's his raw feelings during the pandemic. The stages of grief he went through during it. Dive is the want to stay drunk of the days of the past I believe. And then we have drunk Jimin in Like Crazy.

He literally told us a part of what he's struggling with in the first song. He was betrayed by someone he trusts. Or finally realizing he's in a toxic relationship (platonic, romantic, familial, we don't know, it doesn't matter, it's the message what's important). he mentioned giving his all, about masquerade party, how he basically said take it all, that's what you do best, don't change. And you felt it, the utter disappointment and anger in that song. And one of his ways to cope was drinking because what else was there during the pandemic (he mentioned these happened during the pandemic). Then in Interlude: Dive, it's like the aftermath of that betrayal where everything is dreamy, that's his breathing while running. Then in like crazy, there's that part of him where he can't help missing when nothing changed and he's happy with the relationship. Basically fooling himself. The lyrics basically say that too. But he has to wake up, as shown by the MV starting and ending in that table that everything is just a cycle of despair and wishful thinking and escaping reality. And then set me free pt2 where he's basically talking to himself, hence the different kind of voices in the song, telling himself to set himself free from whatever he's suffering because no one can help him but himself. The Auto tuned one is the more agressive, angry part of him, the normal vocals his more vulnerable side pleading with himself to set himself free. And he did. That's how the album ended. It's a great choice for ending it because the possibility of what comes next after setting himself free. Jimin himself hinted there might be "next", a possible follow up album that's why this one is short.

when he sings forever you and i he wither talking about the alcohol or his feminine side. but the fact that he sing that right after the image of the kissing i think it´s his inner female side. i think it´s jimin fighting the fact that he is gay or bi but can´t be honest about it. and he has to pretend everyday and it makes him sad so when he goes home he drinks his problems away. but jimin is smart because he disguise this to mean two other things. love or a drinking problem. because he can´t be brutally honest about the reason behind his drinking. but they show it in the mv in diffrent ways and even the clothes he is wearing is unisex ithems. i just found the ithems online.
