This is possibly my favorite Jiminy. You can tell Rob Reiner knows what to do with comedians, having grown up around them. So sweet as well as funny. Thanks for posting!
I would hope that most if not all the interviewees are in on the gag. I like how Ice Cube in his interview was pretending to get angry for being called Vanilla Ice. I do think that JG has surprised some of the women he's had on by jumping on them and humping them.
"Do you have any brothers or sisters?" "No... Well two are in institutions, but I don't count 'em!" Even in the worst interviews, and especially when the guests try to turn things around on him, Jiminy still demolishes everything in his path. I am in awe.
i am fairly sure i have more on VHS tape...early Glick. It is great to see how this has brought joy to so many people on here im going to search for more
I always loved Martin and the Jiminny character. I had forget about him for like at least 10 years till now. No one on TV made laugh harder then him back then. Nothing is changed.I am having the best laughs I have had in years!! Martin is pure LEGEND!
I just said, "What??!!!", to myself, thinking Rob had just passed away and then realized it was Carl, who I already knew passed away, okay, I'll be alright...
I remember liking JG as a slapstick character growing up but seeing it these days on youtube makes you really realize what a genius Short is for this work.
This is another J.G. gem that I hadn't seen. I wish Martin Short would bring Jiminy back as a thin guy, announcing that his gastric bypass had been a success or something.
I love watching the micro expressions on the faces of entertainers as Short interviews them. It’s a combination of excitement, fear and joyous wonder. Martin short is a comedic demi-God.
Reiner's expression and light head nod when he's told he's self-absorbed and should probably send a compensatory gift to the show but won't! HILARIOUS!
I love when Glick randomly inserts a celebrity's name into the conversation and wants the person he's interviewing to comment on some specific aspect of that celebrity
I watched Stewie Griffin's impression, and the real one is even funnier. He really does roll up the paper and use it to hit his guest's knee. I don't know why it's funny, but it is.
Killed the ending: “I am sure you were being overly cocky, and what did he know, only building an empire.” And, he did that in a split second, off the cuff !!! And, I have trouble remembering my lines, ordering my coffee every morning.
I slept on Glick for a long time. I didn't know what I was missing. It's brilliant. So, so charming. The way he squeeks "Danny Bonnaducci" and gets really low and gravelly voiced when making a judgment or doing the "tough journalism". And it's next level because it's improv. He's writing the character and the material completely on the fly. It's a rare breed that can do this and have good stuff. Petition for a Lifetime Achievement Award for comedy for Martin Short. He's gotten one in Canada, but Hollywood or some other guild should recognize him.
“No, well, I mean two are in institutions, but I don’t count them.” Gets the biggest laugh out of me every time, and I’ve watched this probably 10x times.
