Accidently ran onto your site and have to say it brought back so many memories forgotten or lost. From my first Strombecker track to racing with my son at the local slot car track. What you've accomplished and share is exactly what our younger generation needs. Hands on and creativity in bringing something to life. Something that lasts more than just 30 seconds. Thanks to you guys for sharing and hopefully inspiring another generation. Russ NC/USA

@@jimmyattard1446 I've been doing lots of reading on the AC 2Car and I'm honestly really impressed with the simple, yet complex nature of it. Its been making me think about how I would go about making my own track, I've made up sketches of my track, and also made a 1/4 scale model of the track for reference before i start building the full sized one. I've been experimenting with the idea of a combination slot car and rc car track in one, using something like a flexible rubber or latex mat that can go over the racing surface when running rc cars. I've also been hooked on the idea of running FPV cars being controlled via a wheel an pedals, think IRacing, but a real car on a real track. I think something like that would highly benefit from a track like yours because of the high level of detail. It would honestly feel like a real day at the track, but without any of the safety concerns of a real race. Would love to email you or possibly get 15 mins of your day to talk to you about some advice you might have building a track from scratch. I've even thought about the possibility of a 3 car system using a 3rd rail and a C car with wider spacing, but I'd have to do some tests on a straight piece of track. Love the videos, I think everyone here loves seeing the passion for model making, motorsport and good old, honest fun. That's what I see when I see this track, a whole lot of fun for the sake of fun, and that's a great thing

This is how I remember slot cars building your own from any model maker form the late 60's to mid 70's. As a young child I remember allot of adults were into building there own bodied slot cars from model makers such as AMT, MPC, Monogram, & Revell. I also recall allot of the adults talked about the brushes that made contact with the track; As well as what type of gearing they would use. I could never afford the hobby, But never the less I thought it was neat that you could build any body styled slot car, & go racing on tracks that were private owned.

I've watched a few of your video's now, Im impressed by Jimmy's passion and knowledge, combined with his willingness to help others to learn is inspirational. My basement is always wet due to a old foundation and high water table. So I cant built a track down there. But its fun to watch and learn, Jimmy's enthusiasm is intoxicating.

Thanks again guys that you do the vids! I've 2 questions re the wooden chassis. Have you built those chassis for 1/32rd cars as well? Have you long time experience about this kind of wood not warping? Thanks + keep on doing your great stuff!
@jimmyattard1446
@jimmyattard1446 11 месяцев назад
Well Suomen, I have not used wood for the smaller 1/32 scale chassis yet, but I plan to for the scratch built series of cars from the 30s that I want to create someday. I have had no problem at all with warping. Some of those wood chassis are almost 20 years old. Please see the video on this Lunch King channel of my 1/32 Watson Indy Roadsters which have popsicle stick chassis. Thx for your comments my friend.
@jimmyattard1446
@jimmyattard1446 5 месяцев назад
SUO, I've built some for my Indy cars in 1/32. They were put together 4 years ago and neither they or my 1/24 wood chassis have warped. I think the metal plate to lower the center of gravity acts to also keep things tight n rite. Thanks for your nice comment my friend. Steve, thank you for your comment. I'm ashamed to say that I'm ignorant when it comes to the type of cars that you guys loved to watch race. I do know that you guys have always had a long history of loving racing. Let me ask, do you know of any books that covered historic racing in Australia and New Zealand that I might be able to get? I'd love to know more about it.

I wpuld love for this man to fo a video on how to build slot car chassis from tounge depressers and those hinge steel plates from home Depot. If i can learn that i would be a happy man then i can build me a wood routed 1/24 scale simple two lane slot car track to race and bring the models i enjoy building to life and more scale and realistic when they are racing around a track. Clearly je isnt building these for competition use neither would i just to drive and race around a track and have fun with the models i built. I screen shot thaat sketch but not clear enough to see but i would hssve to use like a thicker type of wood or a harderwood more dense cause of the huminty doen here thast tounge depresser chassis will warp but id just us thin tc airplane plywood for it

Your very welcome cause I don't care really about them being a high performance race at I just want them to run good cheap to make the chassis and make them look as scale as possible to run around my slot car track. I finally got my track finished with scenery and all but is it ever really finished lol. Now time to start building cars
