John Farnham is an Australian icon, he is very well known and respected by many artists and has sung with Olivia Newton John, Celine Dion, Tom Jones and Ray Charles among others. He is much loved in Australia, and is known to be very generous with those he works with them giving time to appreciate them with collaborations, like "Amazing Grace" he sings with two of his background singer's and "Angels" he Sings with another background singer he refers to them as his friends.

They're all Aussie legends, but ... Jimmy Barnes was born in Scotland ... John Farnham in England and Barnsie's brother-in-law Johnny Deisel (on guitar) was born in the USA.

Great reaction, and if you thought that was good. You should see them do it live. Two Aussie Legends, two pissed as crickets Best Mates Farnsey and Barnsey having a great time. Both have huge catalogues of unbelievable music. Try John... Help or You're The Voice, live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. And Jimmy Four Walls or Working Class Man. We know when we see someone who will appreciate our boys. So I've subbed and I'm sure lots of other Aussies will too.

Jimmy and John are really good friends and have vast amounts of respect for each other. Both are amazing obviously. Jimmy's original band Cold Chisel is also worth checking out as are Jimmy's many duets with other bands and singers. (Cold Chisel had two vocalists and this set Jimmy up really well for working with other singers.)

The whisky has other meanings in this video clip too. Barnsey was born and raised in his early years in Scotland. His father was a violent alcoholic and he too became an alcoholic. It was a long battle to recovery.

Ok, you can see what these blokes can do and people are pointing you in all the right directions. Another you would absolutely love would be Bow River by Cold Chisel , Jimmy was usually the front man but that particular song features Ian Moss as the main vocalist with Jimmy backing him up. Probably the maddest harmonica playing of all time and just a bunch of real musicians having the time of their lives. The live performance at their reunion concert is the best version of it.

First he can sing any genre of music, his range is nuts & he's an ace live performer. They all are loved over here in New Zealand as well but John seemed to take off after his whispering jack album. Farnsey is the best live singer I've ever seen, he interacts with the crowd bending down shaking hands without missing a note. He even throws a bit of comedy in.

I'd encourage you to take a look at the live performances, not only do they give you the true sound and talent, but you see the great relationship between them and their audiences. Start with John performing live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (Help, You're the Voice), and then, to get a sense of his style and humour, Angels live with his backup singer Lisa Edwards. Honestly, having seen them live, you won't find a bad recording, and you'll see what a wide stylistic range they have. Warning: the rabbit hole is deep, but oh, so enjoyable 😎 🇦🇺

This song was originally a Sam and Dave song (USA), Jimmy recently did a song with Sam Moore, from that group, another of theirs, called Soothe Me, it's included on the 30 years anniversary edition of Jimmy's Soul Deep album, and free on yt.

Wow. You did this one. Just fantastic. And yes, Aussie royalty, as are the Bee Gees. Ok they lived in Australia from 58 to 67 (i think ) but were John Farnhams contemporaries. Barry Gibb, the Bee Gees lead singer, once said that Farnham had one of the best voices in the world. Both Jimmy Barnes and John Farnham were emigrants from the UK in the 50s, as were the Bee Gees. In September of 2022 John Farnham's got throat cancer I pray that the Lord God interceeds on our behalf to heal John Farnham's throat. Looks like Johnny diesel playing the guitar too another famous singer that sings right on the tip of my tongue.

Barnsley is raw and his belt outs are impressive but they don’t have the shear tone and punch of Farnsey. Watch amazing grace or angels and also please don’t ask me with Olivia Newton John Granada John with Anthony Warlow in the main event concert . There is no sort of music John can’t sing. His range is insane he can belt out he top nots without a lead up. I am envious of you hearing these for the first time. A concert with John and his back ups with the MSOrchestra is just unbelievable. He is so loved for decades.
