My dad just introduced me to the movie and now I can’t stop watching the movie. And this song makes me think of when my dad would play it in the summer.

Out of all the gone actors John Candy is one of the very, very few that still gets so much love from all over the world. The man died decades ago and I still see people bring up how they miss him. That's a testament to how much of a one of a kind man he was. RIP, big man with an even bigger heart
I love John Candy! When he died in 1994, my girlfriend at the time made me sit down and broke the news to me just like a relative had died. I moped around for a week and felt even more sad once the tributes came out where his friends and co-workers discussed what a wonderful and generous human being he really was.
All John Candy did was make people laugh and feel a little better, just like this song and this movie. Yes I too would say RIP John, you made us a little happier.
+James Johnson Ditto brother, he was one of a kind. In a business full of phonies, he was the "real deal". Summer Rental may not have a great flick, but remains one of my personal favs, miss John Candy and the 80s.
+cameraman655 Absolutely correct. My 2 favorite Films of John Candy, Who's Harry Crumb? and The Great Outdoors. I still laugh at some of the gags in these films. Of course Summer Rental is right up there. Yes, miss Candy and the 80's. It seems like they made a lot of films in the 80's that could get a smile out and make you feel better when it was over. OH well. It is what it is, but the 80's ruled.
He was truly a gift to Hollywood. My two favorite movies by him were Uncle Buck, and Plains Trains and Automobiles. Uncle Buck was a role he was perfect in. I can't see any other actor who could play it like him. In Plains, Trains, and Automobiles he showed how amazingly funny he was and Also at the same time, how he could really pull at your emotions. I don't think I've seen an actor who had such a wide spectrum of talent like he did. I don't think there will be one quite like him ever again. That's how good he was
@@herbsuperb6034 Just visited my parents in Myrtle Beach and saw this on yesterday. Had to watch it. Crenna was awesome. I forgot how many funny moments were in that movie. I love when his wife tries to calm him down in the restaurant and he cuts her off with a "tatatata".

R.i.p irene cara the 80's movies, tvshow's and 70's had true heart &soul to it and it made you really look deep inside yourself and give it all you had everything or nothing !!!!!

Just watched Summer Rental for like the 1,000th time and I had to find this song online. Love Jimmy Buffet!! This song will forever remind me of John Candy in the movie with his family helping to fix up the Barnacle so that he can win his "one". Great underdog movie where you just can't wait to see John Candy stick it to that stuck up snob. :)
John Candy is one of my all time favorite actors in this whole world! He is also one of my favorite human beings and I love him always as I collect all of his movies. I also grew up watching him. Awww the memories! Such a treasure!
⛱️ This song just screams 80s Summertime! Summer Rental will always be in my top 3 summer vacation movies of all time. Watch it at least 3 times a year especially when we're about to go on vacation. . .why I'm here! This movie was under the radar for so long (most of my friends never heard of it). It's a hidden treasure, everytime I find it on tv I watch it. It's so funny yet kinda innocent. Great movie and song.

The soundtrack to Summer Rental was never released on an album. I had bought the VHS tape though and I had my audio from the VCR patched into the Aux on my stereo. I snatched my own copy from the closing credits of the movie onto a cassette tape. I have always loved this song!
You can now get the soundtrack on CD (without the Buffett song unfortunately) on Quartet Records QR151. It's an Alan Silvestri score album which also features the music from the comedy film Critical Condition. It's basically a double-album on one CD. The CD is limited to 1000 copies made. UPC 8436035005765. It's the ENTIRE score, including the End Credits by Silvestri, which were cut and replaced by the Buffett song Turning Around. If you want to go a step further to get a high quality version of Turning Around to go with the score, which will require a bit of technical skills, do the following: Download the 720p version of Summer Rental using the torrent on Pirate Bay, and then do an audio bypass on your computer to record the song during the end credits.
