I think people underestimate the difference between having a career high against the best team in the NBA and arguably the best defensive team in the NBA vs having a career high against a weak team. We should give Jimmy his credit on giving an offensive clinic
Yea not only that it’s against jrue holiday with giannis on the help arguably the best defensive duo in the world, he made them look like high schoolers. Crazy
He's the Tim Duncan of SGs. Not flashy, not lightning quick, no ankle breaking crosses, no 40 inch vert, just goes to work with the most simple and efficient moves.
This needs to be amplified because I don't think a lot of people really realize this. He dropped 56 on the All NBA Defensive 1st team in the playoffs with a short roster. This is one of those performances that is so great that it's too soon for us to give it it's accurate ranking. And that's with people already calling it the greatest playoff performance ever. It may go down as the greatest individual performance we've seen in sports, period.
@@ronaldtucker8997 you’re one hundred percent right. Someone (not naming names) lit a fire in him so immense that it brought out the absolute giant of a player he is. If he was ever motivated like this for every game it would be the best player we’ve ever seen. But he picks and chooses when to attack. Liked him in Philly when he facilitated a lot but you gotta love him here when he just straight up attacks and plays the smartest fundamentals. Absolutely made one of the best players and arguably best defender in the world look like a middle school center. Madness.
Exactly and not only with how great they are defensively but this was an absolute must win game, MIL are champs, they knew the importance, came out focused to win and Jimmy alone just said nah I got this. One of the greatest postseason performances ever in any sport
This may be the one and only strongest performance of the NBA playoffs.......I've seen other crazy shows too, but east 8th vs top of the league? Just astonishing
Butler was astonishing last night. This Heat team has no business being up 3-1 on Milwaukee, even with Giannis missing time. This man is the playoff MVP to this point. I'm a Celtics fan and I have so much respect for how he is carrying Miami. Well done Mr.Butler.
It goes without saying the performance itself is absolutely incredible. Kevin Harlan's calls throughout is what's going to make this so great to revisit over the years though. It really made Jimmy's game that much more special.
What for me makes this Jimmy's performance even more iconic & legendary is the fact that : he had to deal with two elite defenders and future HOF. 1er_ Jrue Holiday = an all - court defender & very good/tough in One on One. 2e_ Giannis Antetokounmpo = a perimeter defender & very dissuasive when it comes to protecting the hoop. And yet, they've NEVER been able to find a way to even slow him down, if not stop it all the game long. That was epic & stratospheric in every way 🔥💯👌✌️. I've always said that : Jimmy Butler was too underrated & and not respected enough in this league. It's really time to give the man his flowers 🎉🙏.
This is hands down the greatest basketball game I’ve watched live from my living room. Absolutely unreal comeback, don’t know if I’ll ever witness anything as incredible again. The hype slowly building up more and more as the Heat closed in on the Bucks in the 4th was something special. Just glad to have experienced this. Jimmy is a different breed in the playoffs!
@@PsychologyTate the original comment does not imply “Butler” is today’s “MJ”. This specific performance is just very similar what you’d expect from MJ regularly in today’s game.
Lebron game 6 imo against the Celtics. At that time, 0 rings and just coming off a choke job against the Mavs in the Finals. It was elimination game, the pressure he had was indescribable but he annihilated the Celtics singlehandedly. This is an absolute top 2
@@supremelink7299 Neither was he playing against an all NBA 1st defence team like this Bucks, while being 8th seed against the number one contender, jimmy is a goat on everything
Love that this season has so many teams that are evenly matched even if the seeding doesn’t say so. Whoever wins the title this season will not have any asterisk whatsoever
Bro as a Heat fan these highlights brought me to tears 😂😂 what an incredible player and what a series I’ll never forget wow! Lets go Heat baby ! Dade county 305 FOREVER !
The playoffs aren’t for everybody. Some players shrink, others turn into stars. Some don’t survive, others find a way to thrive. It takes a different breed. A special kind of DNA. A human who’s not really human. But only one man becomes a mix of Michael Jordan and Jesus Christ in the NBA playoffs. It’s not LeBron, KD or Kobe. It’s the man who just sent the best player in the world back home with a 95% chance of getting eliminated. His name is JIMMY “F”an BUTLER. And somehow, someway he’s keeping his promise from the beginning of the season alive…
Never forget. The front office picked Tobias Harris and motherfucking BEN SIMMONS over this dude!!!... 😑🤦🤣 🤷 Had they kept him and instead traded Simmons for Harden, potentially even a full year earlier to boot (+ ditching Tobias while they still could for picks if they still needed even MORE cap space after bailing on Simmons' absolutely gargantuan ankle weight), Philly would have at LEAST one chip by this point... Prolly two... Just saying. 🤷 Lol.
Remember, lebron in the playoffs had his highest with miami at 49 pts. Jimmy went 56 on the best defensive team in the league, and miami was a play-in team.
People are really stupid if they didn't think after the first game of the New York series Jimmy Butler got injured in the beginning of the fourth quarter and you already had 25 points after that for the next three series Jimmy Butler ankle sprain he suffered was supposed to keep him out 6 to 8 weeks but he kept playing on a bad ankle if you watch this game and see the burst and jumping his step was completely different after this series Jimmy Butler's getting his shot block left and right because he had no bounce no lifting his ankles but even with bad ankles to still take your team is amazing
The opposite of James Harden where Harden turns into invisible in the playoffs. Jimmy rarely scores 30 in a season but come playoff times 35 is his minimum pts every game. Guy is a smart man not giving all his body to collapse on playoffs. He is not even an all star this season and so far he leads all the category on the playoffs averaging like 35 in the series.
