The whole show was a passive aggressive clinic on how little Carr respects Bert. He left Tom alone except for one subject, which was why he's partnered with such an unaware buffoon.
I think that's a negative interpretation of Jimmy. Jimmy is a little more evolved than that. I think he just went with the jokes that were easiest for him. I don't think his intentions were to dunk on Bert. Jimmy has grown.

Any Americans just getting into Jimmy Carr should go check out some of the UK shows he hosts, especially “8 out of 10 Cats” and “Big Fat Quiz” series. He’s outstanding. I would also urge you to go back and watch any clips with him and the late great Sean Locke.
Tom is actually pretty skilled in comedy. He’s sold out big time lately and has definitely lost his edge but he truly is a real comedian. Bert is a drunk frat boy that IS a joke not that he could ever come up with one

You get it. My friends always tell me to try stand up (maybe one day sure just because) but I always try to tell them stand up isn't as simple as just 'being funny'. There's an entire methodology behind it and it's awesome.
@@ericniesen1775 my friends would always tell me that I am funny, but that I wouldn't be able to be a stand up because I just create comedy from the current situation (kinda like what jimmy did here) I never created my own premise and expanded upon it...funny thing is, I never once said that I wanted to be a stand up comedian. I just like making people laugh.
Jimmy isnt just a comedian, hes basically a scholar of comedy. He really dives deep into studying the history of comedy and what made the greats great.
Bert just seems like a frat guy who had the courage to get up on stage. On the other hand, Jimmy car has a sharp wit, uses perfect word choice, has excellent comedic timing, and delivery. It’s like a guy who can scramble eggs vs a chef.
