I have no way to do a correct towel turban and my hair goes half down my thighs. if people don't know hoe to twist a towel then I don't know... if there is something extra I have no idea what it is...
And there's a stark difference in men and women, I have long hair as a guy and when my mum would create the turban I was never once interested in doing it 😂
as a woman i don’t even know how i learned it. you bend over, make sure all your hair is out infront of you and hanging, place the middle of the long edge of the towel on the back of your head however far down your hair goes, pull on either side, wrap, twist, and flip. that’s really all it is
@@connorbell2035maybe the length of a woman's hair helps keep it secure to the head? It would make sense since the hair is twisted within the towel. EDIT: Due to the number of responses I now feel hair length only assists those with the knack to twist the towel turban. It is a skill some people possess and others do not. Thank you for all the engagement I'm happy to have an answer to my hypothesis :)
I'ma be honest, I thought he was talking about how you can fold the top of your towel and make a towel dress...that was until he said turban and then I was like "ooooh, yeah".
If you actually want to know: once you flip your head and put the towel on, try taking the justt the edges that are closest to you with no hair and twist once tight about mid-forehead. Then continue twisting using the entire towel.
Do you use the correct towel? There are multiple towel sizes, and hotels always have multiple offered to you. If you pick the smallest one you picked wrong, it is not going to be long enough to wrap around your head and make the knot. If you pick the biggest one it is indeed far too big and will weigh you down and come undone. You gotta be like goldilock and pick the middle towel.
How do you do it? And what purpose does it serve? I'm a man and I've had long hair in the past. I can't believe I never cared about such a thing, when I'm curious about almost everything...
@glitchquitch you twist it with your hair while your head is down looking at the ground. When you bring your head up flip the towel and boom you have it. And we do that because it dries the hair faster. Cotton t shirts work better than a towel. Hope this helps 😅
Go clean the dishes, do the laundry, and other female chores, and when you're done. And you can read this comment without having to have the last word. Congratulations. You're a man.
Im a girl and I cant do it properly Closest I is leg my hair hang infront thwn wrap the towel round my head and twist the thing but it fall apart so fast xD
Jimmy Carr is constantly accidentally wrecking all conservative comedians by doing the one thing they've been trying to do for decades, writing a good trans joke, while barely even trying. Assholes worked on it for decades and didn't get shit, Jimmy thinks about it for an hour and knocks it out of the park.
As a non trans person I have to say that neither men, women or trans people are the center of the universe so stop crying over jokes about your gender😅I'm male and if someone does a good joke about men I'll laugh. The same when they do jokes about women or trans people.
@@briandavies-wo1mn well if you're clean after the shower, doesn't really matter where you end up putting the ball hair. Also in a public pool change room, you floss further each way to assert dominance, everybody is facing the wall when they do it so if you look around the room over your shoulder everybody gets scared.
I’m also transmasc and I can make a towel turban, but definitely NOT a good one 🥲 I have to hold it up or else it won’t stay on my head and will fall on the floor
bro, am i the only woman who can’t do the towel thing? no matter how long my hair has been i cannot get it to stay put. i’ve just come to the conclusion that my hair is too thin or fine or something lol
As a trans dude who grew up with sisters, and in a very religious household who didn't let us cut our hair, yes I know how to do the turban towel, this theory does not work on me 😂
If people want a tutorial or are curious here’s how I do mine: 1. Aquire towel, place in between legs to hold on to for now 2. Flip hair over in front of face (it’s easier if you bend at the waist) 3. Rake hands through hair to make sure it’s all over in front of you and there won’t be pieces of hair left behind 3. Place edge of towel (any works but I prefer the long side) at nape of neck so that towel hangs over head 4. Bring left side of towel across forehead and underneath hair and hold it in place against forehead (just offside the middle of it) 5. Cross right side of towel over top of left, holding it in the same place with the same hand 6. Towel should now be loosely wrapped around hair (like an enchilada) if not, keep one hand holding the two pieces of towel together and maneuver hair until it looks like a towel enchilada 7. Twist towel enchilada to the right, when comfortable, take other hand away from forehead and help twist 8. Twist until desired tightness, although that is what makes or breaks the hold, so it’s your call 9. Gently flip the long piece of towel over your head so that it hangs down your back like a fancy ponytail, then stand up straight (flipping too fast may result in wrap flying off head and pulling hair. Unless you absolutely cranked that shit and are confident it’ll hold, in that case go for it) 10. Admire self in mirror and congratulate yourself on a job well done!
Additional step if you like to also dance around once your hair is up: take two corner pieces from the dangling bit and wrap them around, one on either side, and tie them in the front of the base of the roll, and then there is no chance of accidently smacking yourself with a heavy wet towel while you dance.
I just mimicked women I saw on TV, but there are tips. Position the towel at the base of your hairline, upsidedown. Follow the hem forward, holding snug, past your ears and to the forehead. Here's the tip: where the towel edges meet, roll the edges together a bit before twisting (same direction as roll) the whole towel snug, not tight, the stand and flip the towel rope to the back. If you have a smaller towel or less plush, you can even tuck the tail of the rope into the back edge at the nape of your neck to keep it from unravelling. Then untuck your ears if you so wish
to be honest i always believed it was the long hair that kept it in place but i cut my hair into a short bob for a while and still had no problem doing it. i think it’s more of a “practice makes perfect” and guys just haven’t practiced it
it became such a habit for me that I would do it even after I buzzed my hair down to a half inch and my fiance was like "but you don't have hair??" It didn't stop me tho lol
I distinctly remember originally using these special towels made for this and then later learning the method with normal towels. Best thing i've ever learned
Maybe im outing myself, but as a dude who started growing out his hair. I believe I may have figured it out. You see once my hair got long it got hard to dry and i didn't want to rub frantically and damage it. So, I realize if I wrap it while leaning down then twist the towel with my hair in the twist and then you just flip it all back you get what he is talking about. My hair is pretty thick as well works fine.
@@hellohaveagoodday if your talking about my profile picture it's 11 years old made by my daughter. Something only a man and woman can create. Thanks for your response lol
To be honest I have no idea who taught me it. I’m guessing my mom, but honestly it’s very simple. 1. Flip your head down, making sure all the hair is hanging down in front of you 2. Place the towel on the back of your head (long side). 3. Grab the ends of the towel and close them around the hair. 4. Twist all the way from the bottom to your head. 5. Flip your head back along with the towel.
@@erverd8401 it is tho, osmosis can be used to describe 'the process of gradual or unconscious assimilation of ideas, knowledge, etc'. Took 20 seconds to look it up
I can tell you, as a man, in highschool i grew my hair out to 14 inches. Its pretty fuckin easy to do (when you have long hair) Its more a, having hair thing... But the end of that clip got me 🤣
Let’s see if we can start a chain of rules you have to follow as a man because as another commentor put it you have lost the title of woman We are looking for the 10 rules people do not sate the other 5
Fairly sure it's a predominantly female thing because of hair length. Men *usually* don't have long long hair. And when you have long hair for a long time, you have to learn different skills, and towel hair wrapping is one of those skills. I had to learn and repeatedly do it as a child for me to perfect the towel wrap, it isn't really taught, just a child sees it in their parents, and wants to copy. Kids methods to take care of their hygiene almost always reflects their parents methods of hygiene that they *saw*. I use the word *saw* specifically, because if they aren't told and don't get to see someone else do it properly, they will do what they think will work, which may not always be correct. Like how some people with a vagina never learned wiping safely for their bodies health, because parents usually won't just detail bathroom skills for them as a child and they just do what works, because they weren't taught and were left to fend for themselves in the hygiene department. It's actually pretty fucked up that no one truly thinks about how important it is to properly teach kids body hygiene, and just expect them to understand what to do with little explanations. But the hair wrap can be done on short hair too btw, even bald heads, it's just much harder to make it stay secure without more hair to anchor it. I've had much much more issues doing it when my hair was short, compared to when my hair is long. But no, not a gender thing necessarily(besides the, more long haired people being female than male thing), just a skill that longer haired people learn. As it takes mych longer for long hair to dry than short hair, and no one wants to wait that long to get dressed, so putting it up in a towel just makes more sense.
Yes, because we have long hair to anchor it in. It's just a twist and flip. Its a great way to dry and control your hair. It's not a gendered thing, it's a long hair thing, it's just most women have long hair. My dad taught me how to do it because he had long hair when I was younger.
It was natural experimentation for me - I needed something to do with my hair so it didn’t drip down my clothes, and I tried stuff out until I figured out how to make the hat
Very true observation , I first observed this over 60 years ago. We were two couples were briefly sharing a house and getting ready to go out , the women, as well as showering wanted to wash their hair before we went , I couldn’t see how this would work as there were no hair dryers there and we wanted to keep moving. We’ll be right they said so away they went next to emerge in their turban-like head towels . The hair was dry in about 5 minutes and I was very impressed with the effortless execution of the turban towel.
as a dude, i figured it out boys- grab the middle of the towel (long ways), lean forward, drape it over your head. From there, twist it, and flip it back over, to your back.
letting your hair dry naturally is just healthier for it than scrubbing the shit out of it. Ive had long hair for ages and taking care of it is just something you learn to do overtime
It's a lot easier than you'd think. I'm gonna explain this how i picked up on this... in a way that men may understand? Hold the towel like a horizontal rectangle. Bend over, so everything looks upside down. Lay the top edge of the towel on the back of your neck. You then grab the rest of the towel in your hands, and try to make it look like you have a front ponytail. Lol. Twist the pony tail like how you'd twist a park swing. Stand straight and flip the twist back... Like a mow hawk. I'll either sound confusing asf, or the dudes will get it. Lol. 🤷🏼♀️😂
Women typically have long hair, and that keeps the twist in place, short hair doesn't need a head towel any how. This only helps us determine who has long hair and who has short hair.
I’m speaking for almost every woman here. We weren’t taught, it’s instinctive, the same way a snake crawls out of its egg and automatically knows how to hunt and fend for itself, or kinda like the way a horse only takes about an hour or two to start running around after birth. We saw someone else, usually our mothers, wearing it and we were like “yea that’s pretty smart”
