He's gotten a lot better since then. Just look it Will Ferrell's audition, it was complete crap and now he's like one of the funniest celebrities out there.
What a treat! We are watching the TV birth of what will sure to be one of America's finest talents. I'll bet Jimmy has to pinch himself; a dream come true.
Yeah. SooOOooOo totally true. How's come he didn't do that in the whole 8 minutes they gave him to do his entire routine. God, I bet you would've, like, done enough in that 8 minutes to fill eight hours. But that's okay. The amount of extremely talented people who could do better than him on just this one thread is amazing. What talent, what bravado, what a country. USA USA USA.
I'm surprised how good this is. You got to remember he doesn't have a writing staff at this point. This is probably 100% his own material, and he was just a kid. I like it.
I think what they may have been looking for in him was how they could adapt the talents he displayed into their work. He can do things they can take advantage of. Can he do impersonations? Yes, Good. We write the material, He performs it. It is a team effort. The "audience" at this point were probably the producers and writers. He did good.
Jimmy is a true impressionist. He can sing and dance and imitate a wide range of voices. From Rap to Rock legends... I think he has more to offer than Leno ever did! I love Justin Timberlake and Jimmy's work together. Anyone who thinks otherwise must be old and out of date!
I'm a Brit and can only really get Jimmy through RU-vid but he is the most genuine, funny talk show host out there. Love his interviews, sketches, and music. Great news that he us stepping into the 'big' job. Well deserved.
I can only imagine the stress he must have gone through at that moment. You have to blow every firework in order to impress people who are not easily impressed. I understand why some bits are awkward, and why isn't the audience engaged.
gavriel45 I'd be willing to completely refute that statement. What are they jealous of? "Jealousy is an emotion, and the word typically refers to the negative thoughts and feelings of insecurity, fear, and anxiety over an anticipated loss of something of great personal value" Having an opinion and stating it is not necessarily an insecurity. Also, they hardly fear a comedian. If anything, it's quite the opposite as they're stating it openly that they do not like their style of comedy. No anxiety is present, nor feelings of loss. That is the literal definition of jealousy, piece by piece. It's distinct from being envious, which I could not see happening either. Envious of having a particular method of comedy which does not appeal to their current sense of humour? I don't think so. Nice try, though.
Korey Rademacher I wasn't criticising him, Doofy. It was a question and even if I was, comedy is a form of art and art is meant to be criticised. I personally, do not find him funny and wonder why millions of people do, that's all. Jerk.
Some of it was hilarious, the rest I don't get so much. Humor is a hit or miss. When you have an insight into people and make it absurd, its not going to be absurd for everyone, sometimes annoying, especially this forced style of humor.
He's NEVER been funny when I've happened to catch him on TV or RU-vid. I honestly don't know what it is... It's not his politics, btw. There have been many people R or D or apolitical who have managed to be funny in the past. One of the big differences was that they took shots at EVERYONE and damned be the consequences. Fallon's king of the soft-toss if his target happens to be someone he admires politically...
mspinkytee No. Maybe a few people close to him, or a few comedians are jealous, but nobody else is any more jealous of Jimmy than of any other famous person. In this case we just don't find him funny, I'd be more jealous of someone actually funny like Ray Lipowski or Greg Giraldo if he was still alive, rest his soul. Just admit it, Jimmy Fallon forces humour. He needs to exaggerate and be loud to make his silly acts funny. Good insights, but no finesse.
The competition must have really sucked for him to have scored this job. Sure he's alright now with his team of writers making jokes for him, but this entire audition was pure cringe.
He's the least funny SNL actor ever. He should not have his own show. I have no idea who he's been on the casting couch with to keep his career going. But, he must be good at bjs.
he was so nervousness that I was shaking for him until the video ended and i remembered that he is one of the most famous comedians of the 21st century so far.
This was cool seeing Jimmy so young and skinny. This shows the excited puppy thing has been there from the beginning too. Best of luck on the tonight show buddy.
