On a warm evening in early August, a miracle of sorts happened in New York City. Jimmy LaFave was joined by singer/songwriter Gretchen Peters and Tom Russell to perform "On A Bus To St Cloud". It's a song LaFave made famous, Gretchen Peters wrote, recorded and performs on tour and which Tom Russell also recorded and performs beautifully at his gigs. I was fortunate to meet him at Kate Wolf several years ago. He was in the food line and we talked. What a fine gentleman and an enormous talent.

This song always makes me sad and happy, l met a girl and she would sing this at the karaoke bar, and so beautiful, we dated but things happened, she had to make a choice, and I thought I could accept it, but I didn't and we parted. I always love Trisha version but then I heard Jimmy and was like a new song, now it was him/me telling the story all over.

Jimmy was a treasure here in Austin...always kind and low-key, always helping, always promoting others. And no singer can sing the word 'baby" so tenderly, so lovingly, so moving as he could. We miss him every day.
