He already was a Selfmade Man before Led Zeppelin , Money wasn´t intresting for Him , Pagey is just one of the Greatest Personalitys in Rock ...My personal Biggest Hero ..His Guitar work with Led Zeppelin ... EVERYBODY has to admit (even if you don´t like him) that Jimmy Pages Guitarplaying Influenced Millions of People "The Ocean" , "Whole Lotta Love" "The song remains the same" "Heartbreaker" "Good times bad times" etc etc. etc. (so much more) 9 Records of the BIGGEST Rock Songs
Jimi Hendrix I couldn't agree more with everything you wrote except for one thing. Jimmy was obsessed with where every penny went. He'd seen how bands were ripped off in every way imaginable. This is why Peter Grant was perfect for the band. Jimmys nickname was "led wallet" lol. ZEPPELIN FOREVER!
Zeppelin are highly original. Even blues based riffs like Bring It On Home or Nobody's Fault are deconstructed and totally transformed. Lyrics could have been changed to form new songs but no, honesty to their roots resonates and gives new power!
Then don't get married. I'm that old man with the guitar but instead of the mansion it's a studio apartment because she ran off with some dude and got my alimony. Beware
JoJo Bar A studio apartment with porn mags laying around is ok. These people think I am trying to insult others. Im just pointing out the reality of the situation.
People are too obsessed with perfection nowadays. Perfection exists only on a computer. Luckily, humans aren't computers. Stop overanalyzing everything, you soulless monsters.
Didn't Bonham die in 1980? Or do you mean you saw him with Zeppelin then solo? I wasn't old enough to to see Zeppelin, but I did catch him in about 1988 or 89 when he was with, The Firm.
Dan I met the janitor who was upset about his broken floor polisher but on a the unreleased version did a improvisational bit with Jimmy as he played the radiator like a xylophone. Tour dates tomorrow... tomorrow. ....
@@ericbutler739 GTFOH with that babbling BS! Seriously, you act like Jimmy Page & Led Zeppelin are the only one's in music who've used or taken different parts from other artist's songs throughout the years in music. The only reason you know to bring Led Zeppelin up is due to social media bringing it to light. Otherwise you wouldn't no sh!t from shine ola, so go kick rocks ya dipsh!t & quit being a hater. 🤘😜🤘
@@ericbutler739 You people that keep going on about that, even if you removed all those songs, they still have a vast catalogue of incredible songs that they wrote themselves. Also a lot of the songs they stole as you put it were so completely changed from the actual song and Robert would then keep all the same lyrics that made it look that much worse.
He still has it in spades. I would love him to release an album, just acoustic guitar, full of pieces and improvisations which draw inspiration from Arabic and Indian music, like he used to do in his solo spots during Led Zeppelin concerts.....
If he ever does release a solo album please god let it be so much better than the ‘’OUTRIDER’’ album now that was ABSOLUTELY SHIT Big Time, if he was any sort of guitarist he really should have made a better album than that and made some more, he is overrated in my opinion I can think of many more guitarists that are way better than Page.

Make no mistake, Page has the guitar tuned specific to his needs, for the song. He's a true musical genius. Many artists won't let you hear their experimental out-takes when they're composing a song,, Page never cared to live up to some prefabricated media image they created. If you've ever known true musicians on a personal level, it's quite an honor to be witness to the birth of a new song. Intense, emotional, raw, tangible, 3 dimensional and fulfilling. As long as he liked the finished product, he was satisfied. If the fans liked it too, then that was better, but not necessary..
I don't understand why people are being critical of his "the guitar being out of tune" This was not a recording session or a pre-planned moment. It is Jimmy Page purely jamming it out and having some fun. Also what alot of people do not realise is this tuning is not in normal concert pitch (E A D G B E). It rather incorporates alternate tuning often used in his Led Zeppelin songs such Kashmir, The Rain Songs etc Thes tunings are rather dsus4 (modal), drop D, open C etc.
+grove4mylife Intonation on All tunings on standard Fret spacings on guitars are out of Tune , its the nature of the guitar, but as i said his tuning dosent come near to sounding in tune,.
the highest top string is off. but please notice he is using a rather ordinary looking acoustic guitar, and not one with strings designed for such a tuning. Tuning in these kinds of keys, if the top is over-tight the bottom goes out and tuning becomes a vicious circle of untuning itself. It doesnt bother me to listen to it even tho i hear that string out, as Im mainly tone deaf anyhow. :) it sounds great to me with Friends at the 1 40 mark i think.
Short story i was about 14 1977 my older hippie sister took me to see the Song Remains the Same at a theatre next to Emory university couple miles from our parents house . After that i was hooked on Led Zeppelin and Jimmy because i was learning guitar . Shortly after that Zeppelin toured and tickets went on sale my sister waited in line for hrs for tickets she cam home a said they sold out ! I was bummed out our family always say together for dinner and after dinner we’re all sitting there and she said look under your plate !!! There before me was a ticket to Led Zeppelin at the Omni in Atlanta ! My first concert the rest is history ! Thank you to everyone in the band you’ve changed my life RIp BONZO !
Edward gbone I don't think mastery comes from clean playing or knowing your instrument, I think it's just when the instrument ceases to exist and the music just flows from soul to sound wave. Not to disagree with you but I just wanted to drop in my two cents.

People are underestimating Jimmy's ability to do art. He is doing what he always did, exploring the boundaries of music. The often atonal sound that you hear is on purpose, that' his style. It is not Flamenco, even though he is using phrygian scale, he is actually trying to discover and incorporate new sounds, along with his experience as an experimental musician. I know him very well, i know his limitations (jimmy page is a sloopy player), he doesn't play well live (in the matter of technics), but what i know is this: what he is doing here is on purpose, and of course you have the right to not like how it sounds, but you can't say that he is doing wrong,or that his guitar is out of tune.
I know that we are listening to Jimmy Page, so this is probably a stupid comment, but this very much sounds like classic Jimmy Page. I love it. One of my very favorites.
Don't hold your breath. There's more chance of an all new Led Zeppelin album than there is Page releasing a new solo record. He never touches his guitars nowadays and is more interested in collecting Led Zeppelin bootlegs than making new music.
Awesome!! Thank you for all the great music you have given us through the years..59 and loving all the music that I grew up on .Pure greatness..the best music of our era!!!🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Such a beautiful moody piece with both light and shade, (and set well in in a bright white space). What he is saying with the piece is just beautiful - minors, flats and all combines into an expression of a mood most beautiful. I just love it.
I don't know what that was but I was listening to it and at the same time I was deciding if I liked it or not and the more of the song I listened to the more I decided that I liked it because it reminded me of something that I listened to many years ago and it was consistent to itself and never wavered and when it was finished it had arrived back to where it had started and left me amazed.
oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my greatness!! thank you so0oo much .. i know someday my great great grandchild will look upon your music and play it again with the the highest respect... thank you so much !! I cannot express.
It's not the best sounding stuff, but when you've listened to a ton of Led Zeppelin's stuff, you'll realize it's no different than the stuff back then.
I liked it...maybe coz im a jimmy page fan...maybe coz his music has always been with me when no one else is...i might not be a musician , but i do feel his music, and thats what makes me happy...thnx jimmy
Not only because you are a fan, but because its interesting musical piece..with strange rythm, acent shifts and different alusions to diferent musical styles and genres...with unique mixture of melody and harmony..enjoy..))
Visually, maybe some of us question the video panning along the floor back and forth. But see the subtle images of the light cast upon the floor from outside. And the image is of an inverted mirror of the World beyond. So we on the outside of Jimmy's world there, his solitary world of he and his music, view it askew. The world is outside and upside down. And the Musician creates meaning on another level. Don't you agree?
What a rich, great, non standard chord progression with a bit of a Middle East vibe to it as well in some parts. Always being creative and exploring! Cudos to you Jimmy!
Utterly sublime,so inventive, the timing, worked out pieces, still with improvisation within them. I soooo blew it not travelling to Melbourne in 1995 for Page/Plant from Adelaide[which on that tour they did not play!] How could Robert only do ONE gig? God if only John had woken during....the music from September 26th 1980 till now,and on would be incredible!

He constantly experimented with different types of chords and rhythmic patterns. How else can one expand? I do that too. Just sit and come up with some chord progressions without even worrying about the lead yet.
Minimalist? Wtf are you talking about? There’s a lot going on in his playing. Is it because he isn’t shredding 100 miles per minute it’s “minimalist”. John Lee hooker is minimalist. Page uses a lot of chords, different scales, and melodic and rhythmic sophistication as well as powerful expression. Most guitarists or musicians are boring to listen too, he’s special like any successful musician cause he can move people with his performance.
@@davidhelwich6158 I kind of doubt that . There’s a lot of white male guitar geeks that think anything blues based is “simple” and their math rock (which has no audience) is the future of music
If you're complaining about the guitar being outta tune or you're uttering some other guitar nerd related gripe, you're missing the point. Just listening to Jimmy's VOICE that comes through the guitar. It's so incredibly evocative. Who gives af about the guitar being slightly outta tune or the song structure being some what basic. Those points are irrelevant just as they'd be if slung in the direction of Hendrix. There is simply no other voice like Jimmy Page's on the guitar.
@@sirbarnabyst.johntoffingto9017 I'm sorry, was this esoteric acoustic piece shot for an extra in a film, not of enough dry complexity to warrant my comment about jimmy page as a whole? Perhaps you should listen to some Polyphia if pure complexity is high on your stack ranking of values
@equinoct999 One feels inclined to express the perfectly legitimate opinion that Polyphia is rather leaning too much in the other extreme. A happy medium is required to eradicate the aches and pains of everyday existence.
no one else in the world can play like jimmy page I can come close but..we are different no one can play excatly like us god gave us this gift for a reason to serve you i love you all everyone is amazing!! god wants me to have it!
I love alternative tunings on guitar, it opens a whole world of possibilities and stretches the musical imagination that much further. On this piece you can almost hear how Robert Plant might've started laying down some interesting vocals in that unique and wonderful way that was uniquely all his own. Inspiring, to say the least. May it be ever so.
Everything what he´s playing has Something ..special which only can come out of his Hands ..People playing his old Stuff , He has written so much GREAT GREAT Guitar Stuff ... I am Researching his old stuff ..and believe me @ his best Moments ..he is the ABSOLUTE Greatest Electric Guitarist (beneath Hendrix ..) James Patrick "Jimmy" Page My ABSOLUTE god
For all you "it's-out- of-tune" guys: I can clearly hear it is, but the point is... I like it! That's why Zep or Beatles' records are the best, they are not perfect. If you can't get this, go back to your keyboard-demoish/dream theaterish perfect music. P.s. What I'm referring to does not have to do with the kind of tuning Jimmy is using here: the guitar is just not perfectly tuned.
It is probably best not to have a snit about other bands. Sure, you may dislike Dream Theatre - I don't care for them much myself, I prefer listening to Porcupine Tree. And I can tell you Porcupine Tree could pound down the doors live, no kidding! Jimmy may have been playing a bit out of tune, and no it doesn't matter. Maybe just say:"Yeah, it's a bit off-key/out of tune, but hey, it's only a Northern Song". That'd quiet 'em down, hmm?
German Lehmann Because it’s about perfection, and human beings are not perfect; that’s why Neil Young and Bob Dylan are so good...and Zeppelin, and The Beatles.
This is pure magic. It's so human, and raw. It's so Jimmy Page. There isn't one single tiny little thing i would change about his style. It's so quirky and rich, so many little tiny imperfections. A shining example of human creativity at its finest.

To the pack of losers trying to substantiate your talents by bashing this amazing performance. All I can tell you is. I hope you realize why you didn't make it as a musician. You're not going to excel in much of anything in life with your inability to recognize greatness and learn from it.
Standard tuning sounds crap anyway. Play at 432hz. Play around with tunings. Cadd4. Open C6. It is like learning a new instrument. Like opening a new room of songwriting.
Most people don't even come close to understanding Jimmy's level of skill and genius musically and otherwise. There are like 15 composers all-time that can even be mentioned as being close to that level. Also his technical skill is incredible. He tries to create a sound sometimes by playing certain ways.

ted ponsonby - Ted, oh Ted. It's supposed to sound like that! Do you actually believe that Jimmy Page of all people, the #3 Rolling Stone magazine greatest guitar player of all time would not know if his guitar is in tune or not? That's the beauty of the scope of Jimmy's repertoire. He, in this piece, is challenging our ears with a piece with an amalgamation of all the music that he's heard from all over world over 50+ years! Get with it, man!

What’s not to love?! I’ll never stop being drawn in by this master musician, never ever. Here I am looking for the episode of Diners, Drive-ins & Dives with Memphis barbecue and air popped spicy popcorn on each table, and what do I see that RU-vid has picked out for me? Best topicals for “mature” skin Jamie Shannon @ Commanders Palace New Orleans making pressed duck in a $7000-sterling silver presser And Jimmy Page playing acoustic. Well, that’s a no brainer, I’ll get to Earl’s Jamaican bbq on the trail in Dunedin, Florida, and more on Jamie and Memphis bbq later. I gotta go watch Jimmy Page play guitar again. Make no mistake about it. Art has enriched your life, whether it’s music, painting, sculpture, or culinary. For me, music is the #1 art because it evokes emotion + it affects me on a physical level, making me move my body in time. And this artist, Jimmy Page, is among the finest ever. I’ll never stop being drawn in to him. I’ll get to wrinkle creams, sculpture, pressed duck and bbq later.

Just watched this for the first time. Fucking great. Jimmy really does live just on the other side of pure and must love to flirt with the nasty....as do I and many others! Pristine tuning has it's place in most anything pop, country, jazz and other styles. But when going for broke with experimentation with rock or blues etc etc and want to become one with the guitar......(which will later probably shape and define your sound/style).....and when you have learned to play the guitar well enough to where you can let go of all the do's and dont's....when you have got to the point you can get into the zone within 2 seconds of picking the guitar up, or going for it while tracking in the studio, at rehearsals, a gig etc etc.........you are playing in a different league. Until you understand this, you *should* concern yourself with accuracy in tuning....and as importantly, intonation and fretting pressure....especially on a 12-string or any amount of strings where there are octave strings and it's so easy to get microtonal differences. However....right now, pat yourself on the back for having an ear and picking out these fractional tuning differences. It tweaks your ear doesn't it? It's meant to. He heard that. He could have stopped and tuned up. He chose not to. He made an instant decision to make it work..........to play with it....to see how it made him feel about keeping going based on what was coming out........and if it worked, great! If not....Take Two. The people who know this are trying to learn ya.....if anyone here is serious about the guitar and you are taking this discussion in......absorb and move forward. Dissonance. Some will find dissonance sweet, others it will offend. I love the comment by JR Tyndale about Jimmy purchasing a cathedral hall rather than a reverb pedal. So true. I believe the main stairwell in his mansion was used to track drums for LZ II. Could be wrong there.
That's what I've been saying out of tune or alternate tune it doesn't matter it sounds just like I would expect Jimmy Page to sound like and that is excellent
