This, the Bill Grundy interview and "Never Mind The Bollucks" album all got him banned by BBC. It's no secret that the Queen took a huge offence to the Sex Pistols.
@yellowjackboots2624 oh, I bet she was very worried about her image. You know the royal family is actually German, they changed their last name due to public pressure during WWI. Also, Jimmy Savile was a frequent media strategy consultant for Prince Charles.
No! This did not get Rotten banned from the BBC, as it was never aired and he continued to make appearances on the channel long after this was recorded!
Lydon did not out Jimmy Savile in 1978 nor was he banned from the BBC Lydon spoke of Savile in an interview for radio in 1978 that was never broadcast until after Savile's death. The interview from 1978 can be found here on RU-vid in which Lydon says he wants to kill 200 famous people including Mick Jagger and Savile. Even a broken clock is right twice a day. Lydon was not banned from the BBC in 1978. He was banned from live interviews as saying you want to kill 200 famous people on film is not exactly Simon Bates's Our Tune. He is on Juke Box Jury in 1979. TOTP in 1979 - Deaths Disco TOTP in 81 - Flowers of Romance All videos can be found on RU-vid.
John Lydon a really intelligent man, he KNEW about Saville, but because he was in a punk band, everyone thought he was just rebelling against society. He knew about Saville and his depravity. If only the right people listened, could've been a totally different result for Saville.
Everybody knew about the abuse that has been going on for centuries in the Catholic church, and nobody acted until recent years. Unchecked power is never a good thing
Mate, they all knew. It wasn’t about “the right people” as the “right” people already knew. The only people that didn’t know, was we, the people. Only reason why the bbc caved in was because the saville gravy train ran thick and was no longer pouring money.
I'd like to share a meal, with John. Nancy was a horrible individual. Sid obviously suffered ADHD and other conditions. Very immature and incapable of dealing with life in general. As much as things like Xmas Day Huddersfield for kids of striking firemen, painted him as kind and generous. There's also alcohol related violence, including 'blinding' a girl at a Damned gig at the 100 club (chucked a glass at the band) and also pulled a knife on a girl in same club. Did he kill Nancy though? Before learning of his previous, I was certain No. But.
He never sold out man, this got him “cancelled” before it was a thing or at the very least stopped him getting paid, put his career in jeopardy to expose the truth. Mad respect!
Pri...King Charles. He got close to Royals, even with strict background checks. I'm not suggesting they didn't hear the rumours. I'm outright stating they did.
Correct. Nothing has changed in the intervening half-a-century. Today, we have Russell Brand and David Walliams. Total sickos who are protected by unseen forces. Oh, let's not forget Kitty, the 83 yr old pervy crooner who's enjoying himself in Barbados or Portugal or wherever the hell he's hiding out.
Thatcher was Savile's close friend and protector. She spent 11 New Years with him, made 5 attempts to knight Savile knowing of allegations against Savile in 1983 (knighted him in 1990), appointed him to head a task force to run Broadmoor in 1988. But then Thatcher has form for covering up for and knighting her paedophile friends: Cyril Smith, Thatcher's Parliamentary Private Secretary: Peter Morrison, and Peter Hayman.
What I knew wouldn't be revealed in The Reckoning now showing on the BBC (that's a joke in itself) is just who really directed Savile's anonymity and for fucks sake why?
Greed is the obvious answer to your question. Savile lined many a pocket and was only too happy to pay for people's silence 🤑🤑🤑🤑 Shame on them all. Truly repugnant behaviour on behalf of all who profited from the sheer misery and loss of innocence of his tragic victims. Sickening what people turn a blind eye to where moneys involved. Their morals go right down the shitter. Simple as that I'm afraid.
So I've been a public image limited fans since I was a kid. I forget which album they actually put this on and it baffled me my whole life who Jimmy savile was like before the internet I had no way of just finding that out I'm in America. It was only when the Jimmy savile thing happened got it finally answered the question.

In '78 they could have easily snuffed out Johnny. Another punk found dead of a drugs overdose. Who would look into that? He and many others knew over the years chose life
@@christschinwon Put yourself in that position, where you know, for certain, children are being abused, is self preservation the first thing that comes to mind? If you absolutely know you'll be in trouble, if you go through the 'correct' channels, you'll come out worse, and Saville walks, do you do the 'right' thing, protecting yourself, but also, by taking action, the children? .... I know, in that instance, exactly what I would do...
Mr JL did nothing about it himself though, either! He just spoke once it seems, what many were saying! His wasn’t unique! Rumour’s, lies and gossip have destroyed many innocents too! However, Savile to me never came across as genuine at all. An arrogant, brash and rude attitude. Always had that edge and hint of confrontation in interview. Almost daring you to dig deeper. His pretence of being humble too was unpleasant and uncomfortable. Very unnerving threatening style and creepy. I always felt uncomfortable just as a viewer. He had an agenda and he stuck to it. He definitely had no charm or charisma. He was menacing, controlling, threatening and that helped him get away with things. People feared him as they fear thugs and gangsters. There was something very psycho and unnerving about him. Hopefully he’s in purgatory now. Evil personified!
Hmm. If the or indeed any Lord, was watching. Why allow it to happen? As for the Devil punishing. Surely he/she would praise him? But yeah. Sentiment right. Hope he spends eternity in perpetual agony.
Yea and the people that was around him that allowed him to carry out his crimes and get away with it they are all saying no I didn’t hear anything I didn’t see anything what utter bullshit they are just as bad as him
If Lydon actually knew anything, then why didn't he go to the Police? ... he's no better than anyone else who "knew" and didn't act on it .. mouthing off on a radio programme about "rumors'" and sniggering about it like a silly teenager means fuck all!
I see where you are coming from, but what can Lydon actually do? Has he any evidence or proof? Rumours are nothing, and he probably also knows that Savile was a protected species. At the same time, I am surprised that Lydon publicly used the term he'd like to kill Savile. He could possibly have got himself in big trouble for just using that threat
Knighted by Pope, so can't be removed as no protocol to do so. Also 'friend' of Royalty (You can't get near Royalty, without "checks". So how did they not know about the rumours?
*Knowing 'rumours' is hardly knowing 'facts' (and don't answer that 'he couldn't say it outright', because John's never been backward in coming forward)*
