I love how no matter the color combination, no matter how much they clash, he still looks great in every single one of those suits.

I think it actually highlights an important message, a criticism of corporate America that runs as a prominent theme throughout the entire show. The reason why Jimmy didn't fit in was never about his ethics or lack thereof, it was about him having an actual individual personality, rather than being a soulless blob that would fit whatever mold society made for him.

The origin story of Saul's suits being purely to piss off his boss is brilliant.

a serious law firm like D&M doesn't want to be seen battling in court whether firing someone over a teal suit is cause.

Honestly, that would be a hilarious way of quitting a shit job in a bank or a supermarket, but in a sucessful lawfirm and with such nice and polite colleagues, just makes Jimmy look like a jackass, even more so because he's doing it to keep his bonus. It's understandable his urge to quit because he doesn't feel like he fits in - believe me, it's shit to work in a place in which you don't feel like you fit in or don't seem to get use to it - but to annoy everyone in order to get fired with a bonus pay it's pretty petty.

Yup, Clifford was nothing but straight with him and even gave him a chance after that stunt with the commercial, which was also just an incomprehensively stupid and self-sabotaging move on Jimmy's part.
@4Syorha
@4Syorha 5 месяцев назад
@@BDNeon the commercial was nice tho. Cliff shoulda been more considerate with his words while still giving him the warning.
@4Syorha

Well the despite the warnings against him they coulda been more considerate with him, like he coulda confided about his relationship with Chuck and how he as Jimmy worked with things.
@PsypherWolf
@PsypherWolf 2 месяца назад
@@4Syorha He was, that's why he gave him 2 strikes instead of three, and it was not so much because of the commercial itself (which had it's own set of issues) but because he went over his head about it.
@4Syorha

@PsypherWolf Even then I think Cliff went far to roast his commercial. Jimmy was in despair after Chuck worked against him and Cliff was there to give him a helping hand.

Jimmy got the job through nepotism. Because of his connection to his older brother. His degree sucked yet David and Mains gave him a chance. Yet he couldn’t fully appreciate the opportunity.
@danielgrossberg1411
@danielgrossberg1411 2 месяца назад
He got the job because he brought a multi 8 figure class action lawsuit to the table. Enough work for 2 of the biggest and best lawfirms in the southwest. It is partner material.
@doraemon61377
@doraemon61377 Месяц назад
@@danielgrossberg1411 I agree that the sandpiper case got him the job. But at the same time, Jimmy couldn’t control himself and screw up on the commercial part. He wasted the opportunity given to him by Clifford main.
@danielgrossberg1411
@danielgrossberg1411 11 дней назад
@doraemon61377 okay congrats that is the plot. But I was only responding to your incorrect claim he got thr job due to nepotism. If anything, reverse-nepotism cost him partnership with HHM. Had Chuck just allowed his brother to work there, his whole life would have been different. (And the show wouldn't exìst)

Looked good on the law firm. They lose their mind over a commercial, they don't listen to the time to air it. Then when Jimmy is up during the night see's a commercial aired that is totally shit and during a time no one is awake.

I have to defend Jimmy here though because he had good reason to do this. The way they handled the issue with the commercial and had Erin following him around watching him like a little kid was really demeaning. At least Jimmy offered to pay for the desk.

As much as it was bad to get fired by annoying decent people, it was pretty scummy to add a clause in the contract where not only would he have to pay all that money back by quitting, but if he stayed long enough there he would also have to pay that bonus back plus interest. That’s how these firms get you, just when you think you settled in they force you to be in debt and you’ll end up paying that forever before you even get anywhere in firm.

because he never liked that job, he said it himself, the formality and all just didn't suit him, so he just wanted to quit, and, as said by cliff, he also wanted to keep the bonus. as harsh as it may seem, chuck was right about him all along, jimmy was a great salesman and a compulsive con-man. that's what he liked doing.
