I sat with my father and kept him company as he took his last breath on 07/15/23. He was a great Man, Husband and Dad. He was always involved with my sports, scouts and karate lessons. He taught me how to hunt, fish and survive while doing it. I took care of him the last 8 years as his vision and mobility faded, he always said "I am sorry to be a burden to you", but I told him he had given me so much when I was younger that I felt it was only right that I help him in his golden years. Good Dad's are loved and truly missed when they are gone.

I had a great relationship with my dad BUT I was saved the day I saw and heard this video for the first time. I just moved back from Los Angeles. I had basic cable turned back on and the country music channel was now included, oh well OK I thought. I was listening to this song and half way through the video God hit me over the head! It was then I realized who the true Christ was. The hair stood up on the back of my neck and I cried and cried. I have been a changed person in Christ now for 10 years! My country music cable was turned off a week later and I called the cable company, they informed me I never had this channel, and it didn't come with basic cable! Interesting huh!? ;)

My son went through the same thing. Ghosted him 3 times. 1997, 2001,2023. He says it doesnt and never bothered him. But i feel otherwise, a mom just knows these things. It has always hurt me just as bad. Especially now in 2023, ghosted his 31 yr old son when he said this time he would keep contact.

A few months after I received my 2nd Honorable Discharge from the US Navy. My Dad and I sat down and had the most touching Father and Son talk ever. We finally were able to tell each other how we loved each other. We cried on each other's shoulder, tears, stuff from our noses. Less than 2 years later I lost him. But that day, is still in my heart, mind and soul.

I just lost my father On Dec 1st this year and He loved me so much, always there for me and my sister and everyone that knew him. This song makes me cry, because just seeing him being on that other side, it makes me sad. But knowing he is no longer hurting and that he is in Heaven with Angel with Golden Wings. Love My Father so much, and I am happy he was there for me all of my life. Thankful I have met him and been part of it. Also, Dec 8th was his birthday and we celebrated it before his heart stopped beating. At least he made it to his birthday but not on the actual day but the first of the month. You guys are lucky to have your fathers, as I nearly lost mione in a auto accident back in 1991. I was a young lad at the time, but I was very close to him. He was hit by a van and it nearly killed him. I heard this one 2 years to the day I had last seen him. By the time it was over, I was cryin my eyes out as this could have been me back in 1991 buring my own dad. Im a heck of alot closer to my dad today, and god forbids he passes on. If it wasnt for me talkin to him, he would not be here

I have a younger brother who has three kids. They are ages 8 6 & 1 year old he has been in and out of prison for most of their lives and the youngest one is being put up for adoption while the other two are being raised by their grandmother. The other day my oldest nephew the 8 year old wrote his daddy a letter telling him that he still loves him and everything but he does not like it when he does bad things to send him to prison. I've been in similar shoes. After my parents divorced when I was a toddler, I never received a birthday card and hardly ever a phone call. I moved around alot as a kid, so there was always instability. I even lived with him for awhile and learned he's extremely passive aggressive and that there's a difference between being there and actually being there physically. My grandfather said it's important for me to know that although my father doesn't ever say it, or express the emotion, he loves me and that I should keep reaching out to him every now and then. I trusted grandpa, so I did just that. I was in my 20s when he started to open up and respond. Love is supposed to be a two way street, but sometimes it's only one-way. It's then that we have to be patient but active so the road can be repaired.

If I can give you any comfort, I will tell you what I told my daughter... sometimes ppl just are not in the right state of mind..they blew it and they missed out on great kids that they will never really get to know but take comfort in knowing that the one dad that loves you so much is there with you every moment of every day and that is your Heavenly Father and He will never leave your side...no greater love.

this cured my long time depression. i fractured my pinky toe, and was bed ridden for months. i had no motivation to continue my life, it mainly consisted of lying in bed and sleeping. after i heard this song, i jumped out of bed and screamed "THANK YOU LORD!" my pinky toe no longer ached and i went for a run around the block immediately. i blasted on repeat for weeks, and even learned how to play it on ukulele. thank you jimmy for inspiring me to not be like that other depressed losers out there lol !
As a father of a young child, this song has special meaning to me. My ex-wife took her from me after our divorce and I didn't get to see her or contact her for nearly 2 years. I fought for my rights through the legal system and was finally allowed to see her again, and am now working towards getting custody II wish more fathers would fight for their children. Children need their daddies. Honestly daddies need their children too. I think that point is sometimes forgotten.
Follow up 9 years later... my daughter who is now 15 has decided she wants nothing to do with me. I have not spoken to her since May of 2021. The parental alienation has been successful from my ex. Waiting on the courts to decide custody. It's been a long exhausting battle.

Having said this, when I had my own children I made sure that I just didn't try, but succeeded and with God's blessings that is just what I did.
