I just graduated college @ 99 and I remember me, dad and uncle awake @ 3am just to watch this magnificent matchup. Now i have 3 kids still revisiting this. Definitely the best lineup. This world pool 99 is like the dream team!
No better age, no better time to be alive. People won't understand but the generations we saw before us, the times we live in and the future we believed in! It was like all human history in less than twenty years. Then it all got used up and we've left out descendants nothing but shit..
One of the greatest matches in pool. Jimmy's 5-9 combination was phenomenal. Efren reye's bankshot on the 2 and thin cut on 3 was was like a magician doing surgery procedure. This is clash of the legends. Sad that one of them has to lose.🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
@@elibo0n What, the "fluke" that Steve Davis called in advance during the commentary? And not only does Jimmy walk to the end of the table to pick out the line of the cue ball from off the cushion, but no sooner does he hit it then he is turning his head to see if he gets the full ball contact on the orange five ball that he needs.
@@mustaphamimoune1837 Yes, or some other big name pool player get an invite to a snooker tournament. I'm also surprised that no snooker tournaments have been taken to the American countries.
@@millysworld6150 I think it’s a first but the 2022 World Games are taking place in Birmingham Alabama this year and they’re gonna have snooker matches.
So glad I found this video. I absolutely love Efren and now Jimmy White is right there with him. This match has been one of the best if not the best I have watched. I know it's an old match-up but so much talent there. Mad respect for these legends
Jimmy beat a former world Championship finalist in snooker tonight at 62. It was far from vintage Jimmy but still crazy to see someone that old still playing let alone winning.
@@1747carling by saying "flukes are rare" You are admitting that flukes happen 😂 and It logically follows that the 5 - 9 combo could have been a fluke.
That 5-9 is why we all love jimmy. What a shot, he has the nerve, the vision, the balls, AND the skill to pull that off. I still remember watching the snooker world championships at my granmas house when I was about 5 and saying I like him without even knowing why she said ‘everyone does’. Jimmy is truly the peoples champ. Go on the whirlwind 🌪
Karna anda hanya melihat vidio bidikan jimmy, coba anda lihat vidio bidikan efren reyes yang lain, anda pasti akan bilang efren reyes adalah manusia yang dilahirkan untuk billiard...
If this title run doesn't prove Efren is the greatest pool player of all time, I don't know what does. The 5-9 plant by Jimmy White is on my top ten list of most spectacular pool shots in history too. What a match!
Jimmy is one of my favourite snooker players of all time but I love his fanboy attitude with snooker and that indomitable spirit and he's a class act. That pool shot is one of the best and I think someone tried to re-create it and did it kinda but took over 50 times. I don't know whether Jimmy played it, as I would love to believe he did, so what do others think? I don't think he just smashed and hoped as it just didn't appear that way. Thanks a lot for the footage. :)
I think it was a fluke. He did line it up though and I guess he hoped for the best by get it with speed. Nevertheless it was a great shot and it came at the exact right time. In the end it didn’t matter.
It is but there was just an element of luck on that shot. You should watch Efren Reyes shots on hid other matches more often, as he intentionally even points out the direction of his shots.
Those kids who wants Jimmy's autograph will realize now that they just missed the opportunity of taking an autograph of the greatest pool player of all time. They can get Jimmy's autograph anytime but from Efren....
Very true. Jimmy is a legend, but they can get his in the UK at any event he attended, but the magician's is much more difficult and rare in this neck of the woods.
@@PestiLencE638 Play snooker & then try nine ball pool. Efren wouldn’t last at Snooker & These Snooker players only had a few goes, their money was in snooker comps. Jimmy White & Alex Higgins were drunk on one occasion & beat two American pool legends in the Mosconi cup. I love pool but a child’s game compared to Snooker.
Is Michaela Tabb the referee? She looked beautiful as allways. Since she was pool player, I love to see her. About the match, it was incredible. Thanks for sharing.
@@elibo0n It's also the same thing with Filipinos ("Efren fanboys") not accepting that some of efren's legendary shots are a fluke, stop being a hypocrite and let the UK crowd celebrate their own
After watching countless hours of pool I'd say 19:30 is up there for the best shot of all time. This was: - a bank - a kick - a combo - a frame winner - an escape - in a tournament - against Efren Reyes at his prime If Jimmy won the match then I would say without a doubt the best shot of all time. Since he lost it, I'll place this shot in first place tied up with Efren's Z shot.
No way its comparable to the Z shot. Z shot was done with a thin slice on the 5 to the corner pocket , and Jimmy was a straight one. Jimmy’s shot was top shot but inho its not even close to that shot.
@@powervkzar how many times has Reyes won the world 9 ball champ? How many us opens? It's way closer than you're making it out to be if you look at the accolades both players have. You're obviously biased and also condescending asshole to a guy just stating his opinion.
What would happen if they played snooker? After that, tell me about word "greatest". Pool players cannot be compared to snooker players, because snooker players are on the whole different level.
@@ugaugauga488 that said jimmy had alot of TO in the late rounds but still manage to snuck a very good combination followed by Efren banking 2 these two are phenomenal
What everyone fails to realize is that Jimmy white was a part time pool player and for all the legend that effren was he should never have been hill Hill with Jimmy. Had Jimmy won the final frame as I think he should have effren should have hung his head in shame. Jimmy played with a snooker cue as well.
Wow ..did anyone notice on the deciding game when Jimmy broke the rack 3 balls went down the pockets and they happened to be 1 4 and 7(147) for all snooker fans the max break in a frame...wow , Was that coincidence ?
05:35 Mind how Jimmy was setting the combo for the left corner pocket and magically he potted it at the right corner, that was a super fluke that became a super shot for free.
Totally agree. As a snooker player, you would never play the right corner, always the left. You can see how he is aiming actually, and how he turns his back and walks away after 😂
I often wondered why he always says, "I GOT LUCKY". I thought it was because he has difficulty with English. However, he says the same thing in his native tongue. I guess, that's how geniuses are. Even if he tried explaining it, we will have difficulty understanding it.
Always a great pleasure to see Efren play his best and pull out a couple of impossible trick shots. Even if it was almost 20 years ago and I now live in Chesapeake, VA home of Efren's FIRST major title. My best wishes to Efren, the best pool player of all time!
As amazing as that 5-9 combination by Jimmy was, and boy was it amazing, Efren's response in the last rack was truly impressive. Those 2 shots he took were scary as hell and impossible to get for almost anyone else. When he's pushed, he seems to focus more and delivers. Great performance by both. Efren wins using skill, not the break pony other have.
The 2 Magicians, the 2 players that have inspired me the most. Jimmy has never been world snooker champion but he is still the most entertaining player, same as Efren to watch. Nice to see how Jimmy was on a completely different level in pool than Steve Davis or Ronnie O Sullivan. Still the snooker player who gave the GOAT his hardest time I think
Crazy how jimmy gave efren a run for his own money in efren’s game. Goes to show how much talent he has. Conversely, no pool player in history could’ve performed the way jimmy did in this match on a snooker table in the crucible.
Not necessarily. Ronnie O' Sullivan once said that Reyes was the only person who could out hustle him at a snooker table. Reyes was an entirely different beast, no matter the game.
@@SnottyBot What? Reyes did do this, and it wasn't wasn't when he was 15. Ronnie said in the same tweet that he was a "genius". I get if you think snooker players are better than pool players or whatever, but Reyes extends beyond pool. He's one of the greatest players to ever pick up a cue stick.
..rewatch the Jimmy 9 ball combination and you’ll see he was setting up for pocketing in the lower LEFT pocket but miss hit so badly that it went lower RIGHT..LOL
Bullshit... Efren has played his fair share of Snooker and even beaten ROS during an Exhibition matxh in Thailand in the mid 1990's and Efren had stated that his best run on a Snooker table is 136. Efren has also played a little English Billiards and is a very skilled Carom Billiards player too.
@@WillieDines1 I can almost guarantee that Reyes has never made a 136 break, there is one video out there of him playing snooker....and he is truly dreadful! And that's fine, it doesn't diminish his achievements in pool! But let's not pretend that he was or is a 'capable' snooker player, he is NOT! This is just wishful thinking by uninformed pool fanboys. If he had been any good he would have come to the UK and schooled himself sufficiently to enter the pro tour. And he would have done this for two reasons, 1/ to prove his claims of snooker aptitude, and 2/ to make money, because in comparison to snooker, pool is a financial paupers game. Sorry, but it's that simple!
@@truthsayerq7264 ask Efren yourself because he stated himself that his best run in snooker is 136 and you don't know as much about Efren as you think because he has also played English Billiards as well as Snooker, 3Cushion and Pool. I don't give a shit if you believe it or not, but I will be more inclined to take Efren's word for it... And I have met Efren a couple of times and played an exhibition match with him too.
I think it has to be said that 5 to 9 combo is probs one of the best shots ever recorded in 9 Ball. It's unreal. It's up there with Earl's 2 rail kick on the 9 - unreal stuff
It almost is. Efren's was more difficult because of the angle on the ball in the middle of the bank. And it was the shot deciding the match. But this 5-9 shot is absolutely shocking. This guy Jimmy is a true master.
@@ugaugauga488 there is no way Efren’s bank on the 2 was harder because he only had to contact one ball. There is no way! His Z shot maybe was better but that is a normal bank for Efren
@@hatesitrick Wait, I didn't mean in this game. The 5-9 shot is definitely harder, I agree. The 2-shot was standard, not harder. I meant the 5-9 compared to the famous Z-shot. As far as I'm concerned those are both the same because they're equally all about hitting exactly the right spot upon a double bank. Once the exact spot is hit the ball will go in, whether it's a combo or a ball on the bank. If this 5-9 shot had been in a special final game it would've been as historic as the Z-shot. How do you see it?
@@prettysure3085 Okay, let's resolve this "fluke" issue once and for all. A fluke is something other than what you intended and planned that is out of the ordinary and still pockets your ball. A fluke involves luck, but luck is not exclusive to a fluke. A fluke is not your ball going in because you hope so. After all, everyone hopes every shot goes in. Is every shot then a fluke? No, of course not. Here are examples of the two, and hopefully you'll be able to tell the difference between the first one (where the ball jumps up), which is the fluke, and the second, where clearly Efren planned the shot and it worked. Both require luck, but only the first one is a fluke. Here they are: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yQS5tMs-LpA.html ................... and the second one .................. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qKdBhPg01VA.html.
