Seitz-Kreuznach Slate Grey ink matches the grey version of the Jinhao 992 perfectly.
The Jinhao 992 remains a deservedly popular and very affordable fountain pen, but many people have reported that the plastic splits around the barrel's finial. This does not affect the functioning of the pen, but it is likely to lead to leaks if this fountain pen is eyedroppered.

I have 3 of these jinhao 992 pens and I found the nibs are the smoothest jinhao nibs so far. Really nice to use. My goto pen for longer writing sessions.

Credit where its due the Chinese certainly make some very good quality inexpensive pens. I have several Jinhao X750s, X450s, Hero 565s, A Duke, Moonmans, Picassos. Only failure has been a Kaco Edge where the cap split. I have seen another owner with this issue. I have several Chinese pens with Fude nibs . Chinese pens are proof you don’t have to spend a lot of money to get a good pen.

I have use it, for the price is ok and very nice but still behind a Preppy or a Kakuno, e.g. the flow depends a lot on the paper.

I loved this one and then I was inspired to get the pen it copies. The Sailor 1911S.

Thanks for the review, I did not see you write the ink brand and color so I thought I took a micronap. But after reviewing again, I realized it was just a jump cut.

Thanks Neil, The ink is Seitz Kreuznach Slate Grey. It's quite a saturated very dark grey ink - I like it a lot.

Try Noodler's Heart of Darkness ink that is some dark black ink.

Unfortunately it's not easy to find many Noodler's inks here in the UK. I'd like to try them, but I'm already amassing quite a collection of inks on my Fountain Pen Journey!
