I react to Jinger Perennial Live at Wacken Open Air 2019 in this video.
I actually really can't anticipate these Tatiana Shmaylyuk growl and then vocal switch ups, they come out of nowhere.
Ukrainian rock band Jinjer are so good! Roman Ibramkhalilov did amazingly on the guitar too. We cannot forget how well Eugene Kostyuk did on the bass too. Tatiana Shmayluk vocals are superb as well!
I loved Jinjer Pisces live session reaction. But then doing Jinjer Perennial reaction has made me love them even more!

I think you are the first reactor to catch the Perennial joke when she says "see you next time." I love the goofy grin when she says it too. It's ironic that most professionals call it screaming. ;) But yeah probably best to say growling so prickly metal fans don't come for you heh. :p I'm looking forward to the Home Back reaction. That thing in the crowd is a modified mosh-pit called a Circle Pit. Quite common at outdoor or large venues during metal shows. Not to mention it's extremely fun! 🤘🤘🔥

Thanks for letting me know about this upload, great reaction again, GTS. The Jinjer army are here, check out; 'Home Back' the official music video (this is about when Russia annexed the Crimea and the Donesk region of the Ukraine in 2014, the band had to move to Kiev for safety), 'Teacher Teacher' the official music video, 'Judgement (and Punishment)' Tatiana's one-take vocal version, 'I Speak Astronomy' the official music video, and 'Vortex' the official music video, there are plenty of other tracks by them, but these are great ones to start with.

Finally, someone who uses an online translator to learn how to pronounce a word instead of being lazy and say "I'm gonna butcher the pronunciation, let me know in the comments how to say it"! I haven't watched the video yet but you already earned a like just for that. 🙂 After reading about the meaning of the song, it would've made more sense to react to the OMV because you'd get a visual experience of that meaning but then you'd miss the switch-ups.

Welcome to Jinjer! I managed to see them live in Dec. 2021 and they tore the house down. So much talent in all 4 members, not just the sublime Tatiana. My recommendation is Home back: very deep, brilliant video, fantastic Tatiana going from jazzy/ lounge to the deepest growl ever. Basically, Jinjer are refugees: after their hometown, Gorlivka, was occupied by ruSSia they fled to Lviv and then settled in Kyiv and started touring a lot, getting international success. Their families stayed under occupation. Always read Jinjer's lyrics first to enjoy the fantastic connection of the sound to the meanings while listening.

she was screaming at that one moment, there's many different extreme vocal styles, cleans, screams, growls, tunnels, shrieks goblin, power cleans, false chord, fry screams. gutturals, throat singing, there's a lot of slang around the vocal styles in the extreme metal world. its all good

To be fair, Tati screams AND growls, both healthily, but she does growl far more often. Also, gotta say, her throat IS NOT hurt. She’s just winded. She is an amazingly healthy singer and doesn’t hurt her vocal chords at all.

Always read Jinjer's lyrics: they are very poetic and deep. Tatiana is a fantastic lyricist. Unfortunately, some people get distracted by her fantastic performance and the musicianship of EACH incredible member of the band, and they miss the poetry of the lyrics.

Yo, Bro....New sub here to tell you about scream/growl. They are different but similar...The growl is that deep, guttural thing you hear in metal all the time. The scream is in a higher register more akin to singing (thin Led Zepplin). When I first heard Pieces I wasn't sure, because even though it's a live session, it is "Studio" session, and there is some quite obvious studio magic on that track. Since then, I've watched many examples that prove - She is actually quite often growling AND screaming at the same time. IMHO it sets her apart from all other "Metal" vocalists...

When your ready for the deep end of the pool. Check out " Pit of Consciousness" Live in Kiev. Btw...Tatiana is not the only growler out there. There has been women doing it since the mid 90's. She's not even the deepest growler either. However what she does that keeps her above the rest of the class. Is her ability to switch on a dime. Her clean tones are some of the best out there. There are very few women out there that can keep pace with Tati.

I really appreciate you enjoying the music and it’s great that you did it for such a good reason. My biggest question is what kind of music do you usually listen to, it’s almost like you’ve never heard a band live. People in bands give you everything they have and some times say they couldn’t have made it to the end without the crowd giving it their all as well. As someone who’s played in several bands I’m telling you there’s a very physical element, listen to musicians talk they’ll say you have to have the chops!!

You’re very welcome! So I do have a rock playlist that I do play, but I listen to a lot of US melodic rap, and some UK rap too (mostly US melodic rap, such as Juice WRLD). Nahh that does make sense, I love that they always put on a show, it is highly respectable!

Yup... BIG difference between your original pronunciation and the actual word... "perennial" and "perineal". The perineal region is the bit of flesh between the scrotum and the anus in males, and between the posterior vulva junction and the anus in females. This song refers to a "perennial" in the sense of plant life... a flower that keeps dying off every winter, and coming back every spring.
