@@lilybug1397 how, why would you be braiding it? And why would brushing out knots and tangles be an issue? With three foot long hair knotting is an issue, because hair can actually tie a knot in it. None of these are issues with less than 4 inch hair.

@@Hawkido actually the left side of my head is chin length, the right side is around the tip of my ear, i get knotty hair all the time...

@@lilybug1397 then brush the ends, then the middle to the end then the scalp to the end... if you have two tangles involving he same strands and you try to brush them out at once, then the tangles can tighten into a knot. So brush the lower tangles out first before you brush the higher tangles. thus no knots, which break hair, and cause pain while brushing.

@@bluesusername like 16 years i think? not that i don't cut my hair but only like twice a year and even then only a trim so like 2 inches each time

@@bluesusername hair grows 0.5 inches per month on average so 48.5 inches of hair would need 8 years and 1 month to grow that long assuming you never trimmed it or touched it up to make it look neater.

@@BimmerWon I cut most of my hair off, to around 4 inches in length in 2016. I've grown it out since with only trimming split ends myself, no hair cuts. I was generous with these cuts though, so considering I take a half inch every month or so, that's 36 inches cut. As of right now, I hit a rounded-up 23 inches, so that's about 9 inches per year, which is average growth. 9*16 = 144inches, so her story and her timeline make sense.

Ooh, that would be an awesome flashback scene. Since Jinx is the fractured embodiment of Powder's trauma, if something calls back to that kind of memory, and Jinx dissociates, she might go ballistic or something. Brilliant idea for a future scene.

You can prevent knots by braiding closer to the scalp and prolly multiple braids. Tight pony tails, braid it, then when you sleep put it in a big bonet designed for long hair. I think that could work. I braid my youngest's kids hair, and yea its not 3 feet, but the knots form where the hair isn't braided, and the looses the pony tails, the more likely it will get tangled, especially if it isn't re-braided every other day.

Jinx went into a toxic river and let heir hair float in it... Sadly, I don't think the creators of the show thought about how she would care for her hair

if you absolutely have to keep long hair in an environment where hair care is not a priority then tight braids are probably the most sensible option short of putting them up. less exposed surface area means don't need to wash as often, braided means don't need to comb as often unless unbraiding.

@@candescence I think realistically you would go for a medieval approach to haircare. Washing once a month with herbal rinses and combing everyday to manage oil and clean the hair. You'd wear your hair in a braid, like you said but to keep it clean you'd put it up (maybe a bun, maybe hair taping) and cover it with cloth, to keep dust and dirt away. Actually if you have long hair, keeping it in braids or in a bun is best even if you can prioritize haircare. Hair is really fragile so just rubbing against your clothes is damaging. Making the surface area small helps with that. Plus braids and buns immobilize the individual hair strands making it almost impossible to tangle. This is great because getting tangles out is damaging as well.

Im don't think blow drying them with that amount of hair before even brushing is a good idea -a person with curly and thicc hair
