FYI… The instructions are “Incorrect” The Bose Manual is specific that using an adapter if needed, connect the PA into the 1/4” Line Level Input Jack! You don’t want to run the PA in to another Pre-Amp.

They certainly are, you as you correctly say are running an output level signal into another pre amp, you will overload it and eventually blow the pre amp, don't do this!

I did it one time so: Left channel via XLR - balanced Jack to the Bose L1 compact Jack output to a HK Audio LUCAS nano 300 And it worked well.

Best connecting AUX out on the mixer to the input on the Bose. If you go from the mixer to the mic channel and turn up the Bose to 12 O Clock you will get distortion from The speaker

what about this setup for a basic band of drums, bass, guitar, keys and 4 vocals for a room of 300-400 people: 4 x wireless microphones to a mixer, connect the mixer to the bose with a jack to xlr cable. From the mixer use a snake (16 ports or more) to the stage, then you have 5 mics for the drums *mic set for snare, the 3 toms and bassdrum. You also can connect the keys, guitar and bass guitar through the snake to the mixer for allround mixing... question is if one bose l1 with the b2 bass setup is enough?

I always connect mixer to the second channel, and it works great. What is the difference?

You're doing it right. The XLR channel has a microphone preamp and a Bose ToneMatch EQ curve permanently applied, i.e., it's designed to connect a dynamic mic, NOT a mixer as the host shows. If you send the mixer signal to the XLR 1) it can very quickly overdrive the mic preamp and 2) it applies a built-in, permanent vocal EQ to your overall mix. A mixer putting out a line-level signal should connect to channel 2 via TRS plug. Channel 2 accepts line-level signals and has no other EQ settings (other than the guitar ToneMatch settings switch that can be turned on or off.) You then apply all your EQ settings on the mixer.

In the chorus of the church we use 4 microphones, one bass and one guitar. We have two Bose speakers. For some reason. We hear the guitar in one Bose and the bass in the other one. What do we can do two hear both instruments in both Bose speakers?

+ccccarbonell 1. Check the L/R panning of the channels on your mixer that is connected to the speakers. 2. Check that the guitar and base is not connected to one of the jacks on a stereo channel with two jacks. It should work still, but sometimes...

I have just bought the Bose L1 compact and want to use it through my powered samson xp308i PA/mixer. I really need help on how to do this as this type of thing is not my forte. I have tried going from the main line out on the back of the bose to my Monitor input and also to a stereo input both 3/4 jack and I have tried with both TS and TRS connectors....completely silent in both instances. Someone suggested using the RCA Record out on the samson xp308i mixer to the RCA input the top of the bose. Look forward to a solution if there is one!

+Paul Marshall I told you it wasnt my forte I had it ar..se about face! Anyway I have sorted it now! Information direct from BOSE. Connect from the mixer monitor out ( either left or right channel) into Channel 2 on the Bose and make sure the Tonematch is NOT selected. The other way is RCA Out from the Mixer to the RCA IN on the Bose with the tonematch OFF. Either way works fine.

if I connect two spkers the second one connected in R out won`t, but the Out does work, do I think my console is broken or something? cuz it does work with one spker, but two, it does not

+Ben Satterfield I know this is four months old but I'll tell you since I do it the same way. :) You would use a 1/4 inch to 1/4 inch RCA cable./ Plug one end into the Analog In on the Model 2 then the other end into the LEFT (L) output on the mixer you're using. Make sure all channels on the mixer are panned to the left and go from there!!

how good is the system for karaoke. I do karaoke for nursing homes with about 30 to 50 people in the room. I have a 1200 watt peavey powered mixer that I want to run 2 or 3 mics and karaoke music from laptop through the mixer and to the bose compact system. it would be a lot easier then the big speakers, stands and speaker cables I use now just want to know about sound quality and the hookup so as not to damage my mixer. Thanks.

This mixer is not powered (it doesn't have amplifier). Powered ones series starts with EMX- prefix

If you have two L1 Model 2s, you would need a Y cable with two 1/4 inch plugs on the end. You would then plug one into the analog input on one power stand, the other into the other power stand. Then you won't have to worry about the pan controls at all. Did that make sense?
