We hope you stay for the full clip. The Lakers have been awesome lately. AD has been playing at an MVP level which is a huge part to them winning games. We definitely stress that in this video. But The Lakers improved shooting has been important as well and we believe the two go hand-in-hand. PS: Apologies for the chicken scratch lol.

JJ's right. Shooting makes it easier for your stars, especially when they're primarily paint scorers. You would think that because of LeBron's age (and the speed/durability decline the comes with it), and because of AD's injury history, the Lakers would want to assemble a roster with as much shooting as possible to minimize the load on their stars. But for some reason, they've done the opposite. A recent shooting surge has allowed AD/LeBron to be more optimal over the last five games. The Lakers need to add more shooting ASAP.

As soon as that happened all the non starters really started playing better. AD looks healthy and you can even see on some of his dunks he's making sure he's landing safely, He isn't playing afraid to get injured he's playing smart to prevent injuries but more so smart heads up basketball. And Lonnie Walker, can't say enough of how good this guy is doing, I was watching some highlights and he was easily their 3rd best player in many games. The fact that young guys now are getting the green light really means the team is in a place of growth and so far nobody is really running away with the West. i like the take. for me i believe its them shooting less threes overall from how they started this season, and going for more than 70 in the paint per game. which is getting them more foul calls and with that also more free throws (which they look to be hitting alot more of then earlier in the season) and Westbrook pass over shooting in most cases

AD did have a better stretch. In 2018 in the middle of the season at one point he averaged 35 a game for 10 games and he averaged 2.6 blocks and 2.4 steals which is ridiculous. He also shot over 50% from the field and that's with only 2.1 turnovers a game which is incredible for any position for a statline like that.

Haven't looked into advanced stats but from the eye test the big 360 is starting to mesh, Russ really finding his rhythm coming off the bench. Russ is really a rhythm based player and that's unlocked the team offense.

AD is good but its also due to better contribution from the TEAM. Esp He's got an excellent Bron & Russ feeding him. Also players other than this BIG 3 are improving and making great contributions eg Reaves, Walker, Shrouder, Brown, Bryant, Gabriel helping bring the win. Also less waste of over shooting for 3s as at start of the season, they're are moving around more & not just stagnant orstanding still-. cutting and looking for paint points. They could rebound and practice freethrows more!

Certainly the best he's played on the Lakers for sure, but he was a top 5 player for 5 years in New Orleans dominating. They never built around him and they were in a small market so no one paid attention. He's right this is probably the 3rd or 4th best stretch in his career. He's been GREAT he just can't stay on the court. Even the past 2 seasons he wasn't terrible. He still averaged 23 and 10 with elite defense, he just wasn't up to par with what we were seeing from him the year before because he was on the same level as Giannis possibly better.

When the Los Angeles Lakers acquired All-Star guard J. Redick from the Philadelphia 76ers in 2017, sports fans were excited by the addition. However, many had their skepticism when they read his back-story. In addition to being a sixth-round draft pick, Redick had never played a full NBA season due to injuries. But by God's grace, Redick proved all his doubters wrong and became one of the team's most valuable players. Next season, Redick led LA to the best record in the league and earned his second All-Star appearance

Charles Barkley been saying it since last year, which was the Lakers' success will depend on how well AD plays. Yes, Westbrook coming off the bench and players coming back from injury also helps the Lakers but ultimately it falls on AD. If he plays great, the Lakers will play great.

I love JJ but this an example of thinking what yo do best is most important. The reason AD is dominant is because there has been a shift in who is the number one option Russ and bron have been getting AD at least 😢22 easy points a game and AD has been doing the rest that has led to shooters being wide open

This really makes you wonder why shooting is often an afterthought in the NBA draft. You have guys drafted in the top 5 on "potential" who have shown zero ability to shoot the three. They don't even shoot FTs well. I'm thinking of someone like RJ Barrett. And yet you have guys like Trey Murphy, who has great size, great athleticism, and posted 50/43/93 shooting splits at UVA. How in the world does that guy go outside the lottery? It still seems to be that teams undervalue shooting touch as a baseline skill.

The Lakers success relies solely on their ability to hit 3s. They have great pieces to mitigate shooting slumps, which is why they’re competitive in games where it looks like they can’t shoot at all. When they shoot well, it takes pressure off AD and Lebrons 2 man game. Provides spacing for Russ to attack.

I think it’s way simpler than this. We are talking about a team that has barely played together. Russ Lebron and AD had like 21 games together last year. Not to mention pretty big roster turn over for the 4th year in a row and a new coach. These numbers don’t really mean that much with the lakers team because a lot has changed since the first 12 games. Freaking lebron was shooting like 10% from 3! They have found an identity and almost everyone has figured out their roles now. The chemistry keeps getting better as well. The west is also pretty open. I don’t see a juggernaut type team. I see some really good teams that are beatable.

Russ and LeBron are so good at the p&r that if AD plays aggressive and makes correct reads on when to cut, those two ball handlers will make sure he gets the ball. Idk how much credit goes to who but someone in LA- Coach and/or players- have been stressing getting ball to AD in his best spots. GA has that in MIL, Joel and Jokic get that luxury but AD hasnt really gotten that in LA due to injuries which forced LeBron to be #1 option and many nights Russ as #2, when AD needs touches all game every game, he's that dominant
@ytbasketball101
@ytbasketball101 Год назад
I think it's the fact that AD has backup now. Before he was getting doubled by centers and when he came out we couldn't get rebounds, but now we have Bryant coming off of the bench and it lowers that impact of losing rebounds to bigger teams, leading to the offense getting into more of a flow. Basically we are able to secure the ball a bit more now and it was just enough to tip the scales.
@Michael-vn2jj
@Michael-vn2jj Год назад
@@ytbasketball101 lol is this a Thomas Bryant burner account? It has way more to do with running offense through AD then it does a few extra rebounds from the backup center.

Russ energy and playstyle to attack the basket is a huge reason why AD is going off lately. When Lebron is in or out, you can count on Russ to initiate the pnr and get the inside out play going. This team would be even scarier with another good wing or big

Lot of talk about getting Myles Turner. I wouldn't. If AD is playing this great at the 5 why move him? I doubt if you trade for Turner he would be ok being the back up, playing 15 min a night in a contract year. Even if he did accept the role he would probably walk in free agency. Buddy Hield would be a better pick up. It would be an easier player to plug right into the offense. So if you trade maybe Russ and a 1st for Hield then go and trade guys like Pat Bev and Nunn, who aren't great fits right now, and the other 1st for another 3 point shooter... Thats what will make you a contender.
