I have heard a story about the Futakuchi-onna. There was a man who wanted a wife, although he hated the idea of buying them things. One day,he came across a women who didn’t eat at all. He was pleased, she was perfect for him. And so he asked her to marry him,and she happily said yes. She never ate,but every day he would find large amounts of food taken from the kitchen. One night he woke up to find that his wife was not next to him. He came out into the kitchen, where she was stuffing food from the fridge into a large mouth in the back of her head. When she saw him,she attacked him and then fled. The next day,she was gone.
9:31 Mercy died in the winter when the soil was to hard to dig a grave in so she was kept in the family crypt. When they took her out of the crypt they found her body hadn't rotten very much and that her heart had blood in it. That was because it was still winter and the rotting slowed, but the people didn't know this. Her grave can be found under a large tree in Chesnut Hill Cemetary in Rhode Island
@@joephillips2101 and also there's nothing wrong because maybe the artist isn't really good at drawing men (no hate) and it's also the artist choice on what they want to draw.
@@joephillips2101 Women were more often put into unreasonable punishments and deaths, so there are more ghost folklore covering women. I think the creators of the folklore thought it would be more interesting to see a lady’s ghost than a man’s?
We have a story about a selkie in my country, a man took her skin and forced her to be with him, they had two sons. The man hid herskin in a chest and kept the key close to him. One day, he had gone fishing and forgot the key at home, the selkie found it and took her skin, leaving their two sons home alone. When the man came back, she had left to be with her mate and cubs. It’s my favourite story
There is an episode in disenchanted where King Zogg falls in love with a bear and hid her bear skin so she couldn’t leave but he felt bad and gave it back
Most people: Oh my god, these stories are so tragic! Me: Eyelashes ❤👁 Edit: Hi whoever is seeing this, it has been a month since I posted this and I know it isn't much but thank you for top comments! Hope you all have a great new year and enjoy 2022!
Fun fact, the Grim Reaper doesn't actually kill you. It just take's your soul, and if you were supposed to die but haven't then it will create a new way for you to die by not actually touching you.
I don’t know if you already knew, but the person who posted this did not make the art or videos, the actual artist has a RU-vid channel called Jessica Lauser. I’m sure she’d be very happy to hear your opinion! :)
Imma be honest, when I heard the Selkie, my mind quickly went to the movie "Song of the Sea", mainly because of its main protag's sister and mother being Selkies.
Same! I always loved the heros as a kid. But now my favorite characters are always villains. My mom's like "what about the good guys?!" I tell her I dont care. I have my limits on villainy, but they honestly have more fun!
I am now going to be re-creating my very own version of the Nicnevin seeing as it is one of the most interesting ones in this video, along with the Selkie, Kelpie, Mercy Brown, and last but not least... Huldra
Erm.. the Nøkken one is wrong to me as I come from a Scandinavian country-in my country Nøkken is usually a big seaweed looking monster that appears in small lakes in forests. The monster usually seems like a rock but has two green glowing eyes. It also doesn't play the violin, that's a whole other myth. I don't remember what it's called at the moment. Two Norwegian movies called "Akseladden of dovregubbens hall" and "Akseladden of Soria Moria slottet" portray some of the most famous myths in Scandinavia.
i love this woman shes the reason why i didnt give up on my scary art witch yes i do scary story art but i would get so much hate saying to give up but when i saw her tiktok i followed her the next day i did another tiktok and i got no hate insted i got comments like "wow i love your art" and " dont give up i followed love your art"
The "tikwi" is also called as "Manananggal" in Filipino language :). Also, i'm filipino and everything she said about the tikwi is very accurate and Nice Drawing 🤩
We learned about selkies at school and heres a story we read A princess was talking to her mother and her mother said “dear we are the most beautiful woman in all the land more Beautiful then the selkie in the waters” the selkie in the shore next to the castle heard them speaking and got jealous they swam away to Poseidon Poseidon decided to teach the princess and queen a lesson Poseidon took the princess hostage then a prince came and saved her
I really love that she put Slavic mythology here. While listening it again and again it's make me really happy as a Slavic person😊 And The drawings are just ✨Chef's kisses😙👌✨
As soon as I heard Selkie I made my happy noises! I have friends whose Faroese! Selkie is from that! I even went to Faroe Island once! ^^ And saw the statue! uwu Being a dane do have its perks haha
Am i the only one who loves how loves when even she makes it a female figure she says they and them becuase it has more than one depiction my agender heart!
I'm a filipino yet I never heard much about the Tikwi, all I know is its a creature who's a trickster. The description the artist made was more of a Manananggal (similar to Thai folkore Kra Sue but its half her body thats wondering around not her head and organs), but either way, it can also be interpreted as an Aswang or a Tiktik, theyre pretty similar. But then again, i dont have much knowledge about it too.
I love that u used music from Coroline for Nicnevin. Ur art is amazing & pairing it with the mythos I've chosen has me hooked. U truly have spectacular talent
idk why i watch these, they are so amazingly done and just simply perfect in every way but they keep me up at night lol no shade whatsoever to the artist they are amazing (im just a 5 year old at heart)
Noted; Never cheat on your partner, don't go out at night, never let anyone in your house (duh) and always feed beggars food! lol I'm in love with her art 😊❤
I have also heard another version of Futakuchi-onna. There were two sisters. They were both in a small village with no money and very little food and both sisters were on the verge of starving to death. One day, the younger sister, came home overfilled with joy. The older sister didn’t understand why she was so happy, and questioned her but didn’t get any answer. After weeks of this happening, the eldest got the intent that the younger was eating well without her. Anger and hunger took over her, and she soon consumed her own sister. Later, the eldest soon found out that the younger was saving money for the both of them. Guilt and tragedy washed over the eldest, and soon a second mouth of the youngest appeared in the back of her head, begging and crying for food. If the second mouth wasn’t fed, the eldest would experience extreme pain.
Another version for Futakachi Onna- there were 2 sisters (I’m so sorry I forgot their names so we’ll call the older one Jess and the younger Saiki). They were both very, very poor and had no money so that made it so they barely had enough food to survive. One day Saiki came home filled with joy, but when Jess asked her what happened she didn’t tell her. This happened for weeks and weeks. One day Jess came to the thought that Saiki must have been eating good without her and in her blind rage and unbearable hunger she attacked and consumed her own sister (Saiki). She then realised that Saiki had been saving money for the both of them. From extreme guilt and despair a large mouth formed on the back of her head, it was The mouth of Saiki. It demanded food all the time and when it didn’t get to eat Jess would be in extreme pain. -Holy moly that’s a long comment.
I used to be terrified at night by a channel I watched as a kid (most likely 8 years old or so.) but I kept watching because I was a weird kid who loved horror. Why I am mentioning this is that I remember some of these from years ago, like the tikwi.
