20:46 - 山田さん「いえ、これは兄に ( )。] <- Is this correct? 「いえ」 with just one 「い」meaning "no"? Should I always interpret いえ without 漢字 as "No"? Thanks for the video! It's a pity there's not a lot of views since there're not many who want to try the exam or measure their knowledge. But for us that do, you are a great help.
@learningkanji3930
@learningkanji3930 5 лет назад
いえ(ie) is the short colloquial form of いいえ(iie) which means "no", so just い doesn't mean "no". いいえ or いえ can be interpreted as "no" without 漢字, but there is another いえ which means "house" and is written in 漢字 as "家", so you should judge it by the context. In this video's case, いえ is the answer to the sentence before 「どこで かいましたか。」(Where did you buy it?) , and the answer is guessed as "No, I didn't buy it, but was given by my elder brother.", so this いえ is thought to be as "no", not "house". Thank you so much for watching!
