Nice video. I bought my first freeskates from JMK one year after your video. It's also orange, but my truck is white and the grip is orange. Now I have three pairs of JMK freeskates because my kids (5 yrs and 9 yrs old) play them too. It took me a few months to be able to do pushing well. But it just a couple of weeks for my kids.
Oh I'm in the same boat! I'm by no means athletic but I really wanted to learn to ride these. Learning little by little is the way to go and wearing protective gear will make you feel safer when you start :) You got this!
Hi! Can you please give more info regarding your first free skates? Like the difference, can you show it off? I just brought the “cheap” skates off amazon. First day was soooo frustrating! But i’m determined to learn it and buy my own JMK in the future!
honestly, with 2 years of expericence at this point. I found that in general no matter what skate you buy (cheap or JMK) learning is is the same and progression is the same. I borrowed my friends wooden amazon ones and compared them to the JMK, both are going to be hard to use regardless of the price. The main difference between the two is that JMK offers amazing build quality and lasting products, cheap skates are just cheaper material thay may break easier. Overall its good that you started with a cheaper pair so that if you end up buying JMK skates, the ride will be smoother and youll have more expericence on a higher quality product
Would be great if the 'learning curve' would look like that. If so you would have learned all skills in no time. Nearly no one gets learning curves right. Why just use the rounded wheels on your old Freeskate? Now my TwoLions feels better.
i recently found my older wooden skates with flat wheels to be more comfortable crusing and get more power because of the rigid friction of the flat wheel on the ground. I use curved wheels because it fits my style of riding, which is fluid and involves alot of turning and quick changes in direction. I was going to give my old JMK curve wheels to my friend to replace his flat ones on the amazon skates, and it is possible! JMK does have both style (curved and flat) on their website! I honestly reccomend trying both style wheels, but in all honesty the rider is what makes the skate!
from my experience, ive been able to ride faster than skate boards, longboards, rollerblades, etc…. but it’s going to take a lot of time to learn them and get comfortable with it! I’ve been riding for about a year now so i’m more comfortable than ever, I can even ride them carrying groceries and around campus. A penny board on the other hand is easier to learn quickly. In all honesty, the only deciding factor when choosing is how much time you are willing to learn each. Freeskates may take months and workout your hip flexor and calve muscles every time you use it, but im my opinion freeskates offer a more fluid and eye catching experience!! I definitely get looks and surprised comments no matter where I go. So in the end of the day, again its just how much time you’re willing to learn them, but i’d prefer freeskates over anything
