Jo-El called my husband, Albert Lee, about three weeks ago to join him in Louisiana sometime soon to play at an event he was just beginning to plan. Albert had a great time playing in a band Jo-El put together with Garth Hudson, Lawrence Juber and Steve Duncan on drums. The bassist Greg Humphrey’s went to heaven 20 years or so ago. Missing our uniquely talented and fun dear friend.
Just learned of Jo El’s passing away! I am so heartbroken! I’ve loved him from day one as a teenager, I danced to his music so many times . He had so many great songs!! I was hoping to see him live in Louisiana this year. 💔💔💔💔
Thank you Bo Bodkin...I received a "like" for a comment I left for Jo-El Sonnier and I found that he had passed. If you hadn't sent that "like" notification I would not have known. Thank you. 😢😢😢
I was 10years old working at Mom's Cajun Kitchen on Friday and Saturday night Joel Sonnier was a number one all time favorite for everybody met him a couple of times Also Warren Storm I love our culture and miss that lil Restaurant that was open 24/7 and most of the time the line would all the way down the side of the building my grand parents were awesome and everyone knew them and loved Mom and my Grand Father known as Dad I would give anything to relive those awesome nights and hear this song cranked up on the juke box also I can't leave out Tip Crockett check out his version of Hank Williams Sr song (I CAN'T HELP IT IF I'M STILL IN LOVE WITH YOU) everybody thought Elvis Preslsey has recorded this song but in fact Elvis never did BUT MY UNCLE TIPPY DID AND IT'S THE BEST VERSION OF THIS SONG BY HANK SR AGAIN HIS NAME Is TIP CROCKETT I miss him too .....just had to share a little memories to my cajun brothers and sisters
If you from southwest louisiana and remember Mom's Cajun Kitchen Please leave a thumbs up or better yet tell a story I'm sure if you were there in those days you have a story let's hear it
Sometimes you have to realize that toxic people drag you down. It's a hard decision, but your life has value too. I made my choice to let it go and took my daughter along with me.
Can ya ask him if I can get his blessing on doing a studio remake of this song? Heck, show him my music page or spotify if you want. I'm a long-term terminally ill southern rock musician from the upper Mississippi Delta Region who records, mixes, sings, and does all my own instruments etc. Distantly related to the Jennings bunch, but you can probably tell by my voice.
@Malik Santiago thanks for spamming everyone. I don't know why you pick my account to do that though. I will point your account out to everyone now that you did.
You said a mouthful, son this was my last words before my divorse my attorney gave this song to Joel for my @750$ fee what a Liberating 1986 87 Lou KY still love the words today God Bless you Joel S
@@glenbeck5602 Glenn, the ole song kept me and my now gone best friend forever, in my truck, and song to our morals, boots, faded jeans, dirty roads. I was proud. Iyer got me thru the greatest heartache of my life - I still won't take him back. In other words, this song was a broken hearted country girl's BIBLE. Period.
I never met him but I know A real genuine human being, and a real genuine country singer when I hear one. This song, so unique, so good. For me it’s right at the top with any song ever written. You’re the best Joel.
Grammy award winning Joel Sonnier, has devoted his life to entertaining his fans!Check out the album "The Legacy" that won a Grammy in 2015..We love ya Jo-el!
@@JWGauntt We lost our only old timey radio station in our area. I count on you and one other dude on here to remind me of the older stuff. This takes me back ( and seems like just a few years ago LOL ) but this was the year that my husband and me moved into our first little house ( that we stayed at for 30 years ) LOL. Now we are in our toes up house and got grands ( lol ). I had brought a radio with me to move in ( I was doing most the moving in while he worked ) but no one plays the wonderful old stuff any more and I did not have my YT yet lol. I had to ( gasp ) get by on what they call country music now. Ick. ( gag ) lol. This is one of those songs like "He stopped loving her today ( 1980 but it coulda been from 1950 ) that sounds like it could have been from '57 instead of 87. A true classic. TY.
Don't hear much out of Him Now days. Really Like his Music. We as Fans of ALL Music take care of it. will last only as long as we the Old ones pass it down to the younger people. If not We Lose it for all time..
Sadly Jo el passed away January 13th 2024 he had just stepped off stage and was gonna come back for one more song but sadly suffered a stroke or heart attack and didn't survive he will be missed.
So glad to find this. I remember seeing him and meeting him in Alabama at the Opp Rattlesnake Rodeo many years ago and also saw him in Marianna, Fl. Great performer!! This is my favorite song of his!! I would love to see him if he's still around.
My most favorite in the world too, but now 53, then 17, I didn't get to concerts. I only knew what he looked like in my mind... God I'd love ta see him, in memory of my first truck and bestest friend in this ole world Reckon he'll ever get close to Georgetown, Alabama?
I don't kno them there words, but they look awful pretty... my most favorite song. This man couldn't ever have done a better song, for me at 17, and oh my God, that was 35 years ago
One of many favorites by him! Love his music, grew up dancing to it! He’s as Cajun as I am. Thanks Jackie! Do you have any recordings by LJ Foret? Cajun music.
U the Shit, so to say,to the day I die, u got my Love, gail, 1986,my blessings, thank you,!yo if Dustin Leigh ask to use the phrase please work it out with a good two u sound I love y both,, ,, , ! Me
Great song. Too bad Jo-El got kicked off country radio back in the early 90s when the powers decided that anyone over 40 or anyone who didn't sound like George Strait wouldn't get played anymore.
George Strait is legendary, a great and original singer and artist. It's the inclination of record execs to try and make 10,000 subpar copies of anything successful that has ruined country music.
George Strait was and is true traditional country. He helped lead the New Traditionalist movement in the early 80s with Ricky Skaggs and a couple others that brought country music out of the poppish Nashville Sound morass.
@@JHargis68 Just Saying, It sounds like You and I came from a different era, But I don’t remember the 80s, being that good for Country Music, and Once again,Do You have the Audacity to sit there and say George Strait was the equivalent of George Jones, Or Merle Haggard, I could name some more but those two are enough.
I wrote this as a poem while waiting to sign my divorce papers I got a 750$divorce for giving poem to my attorney, who then gave it to Jo at Lennon Jct, KY where he Jo e was preforming at well anyway it was 1986 my x is now passed I cherish this mind set for anyone who has tried til they can't anymore,!
