My brother brought home to Colombo, Sri Lanka, 2 cases of records from London in 83 when I was just 11. He took out Diamonds and Rust and I fell in love with the voice, the poetry and sang it ten years on in an unlikely karaoke bar called Showboat in Colombo. Never forget Baez and Dylan and a brave America! Especially now. Listening in lockdown in London... !
When I was a boy, I heard Joan Baez songs for the first time. Now, in the midst of the global crisis of COVID 19, I'm 70, listening to her songs again. Thanks to Joan Baez from Japan.
I'm a Bangladeshi 🇧🇩 American 🗽 I have been here in the U.S. last 40 years, I know how much your contribution for the world especially Bangladesh's liberation wartime. song for Bangladesh we will always remember you.
Thank you Joan for speaking up for all those who serve at every level. My son works for the third largest county healthcare dept in TX. His mgr has worked for 32 days, 11-12 hours a day, and he's worked for 25 days at the same pace, keeping the entire healthcare system working as efficiently as possible. There are so many unsung heroes working at their best now to help others. It's a source of the light of love and compassion.
Please extend our thanks. I'm in NYC...NW Bronx...where ALL of us...with few exceptions, wearing masks, gloves, walking dogs, shopping for elderly/disabled/ families with kids neighbors. My immediate neighborhood has lost dozens of people...mostly elderly, but a few 40-50 year old teachers, nurses. Looks like parts of Texas MAY experience the next round of COVID 19....hope your state government does well with planing supplies and staffing. NY State now sending ventilators to Michigan and Maryland.
I’m 75 yo Vietnam vet. Your first 3 or 4 albums were the the 1st I purchased w/ my own $$. Lucky enough to have seen you perform in PDX 1964 & the 80’s. Took my nephew. Joan, may your strong voice stay w/ us more years to come.
Joan does what Joan does, delivers, makes us think about those less fortunate than us. Still a shining light in the darkness of the hate and vitriol we have become used to. Thank you Joan, Stay Home, Stay Safe and Stay Mighty.
Joan has always been a "front line" worker for me, standing up for the weak, the poor, the disenfranchised- she is a shining light, and her vibrato soprano (?) is that how you describe her voice- just say angelic, I get goosebumps! She is a Joan of Arc. And forever young- !!!! Namaste friend, keep safe, a friend and "fellow" Joan Baez fan from Canada
May bigotry, cynicism, hypocrisy, ignorance, indifference, selfishness and the superiority complex never prevail - thank you with all my heart, dear Joan !
yes, we need to keep the looney left out of office and that should be easy with the likes of Dementia Joe. But the corrupt dems will lie, cheat, steal and murder to win but Trump is way to clever for them as he proved on 2016.
@@karbvi I believe you mean "too" clever. On this day, your President's intermittent cleverness may result in some genuine Light on this whole COVID issue. I hope he wins on this. I refer Trump's freedom fighting over the past few days to invalidate the "infection model" of Bill Gates, which Gates formulated to herd your entire beloved nation and the people of the world into taking his vaccine, obviously only for the obscene financial benefit of the 1% filthy rich of the planet. Surely we know these evil motives by now, to enslave and track every person with nano-tech vaccines that are for big pharma benefit, and not for the people. Thanks, karbvi, for bringing some balance into this page which can't avoid being a discussion on the welfare of Humankind.
@@cashew515, no doubt there are some good vaccines. However, what Gates proposed was a sinister attack on humanity's freedom. Anyway, back to Joan. I love her music and that she continues to do use her voice in the name of justice and freedom. All the best to you, Sweet Dandy.
Dear Joan: For 50 years your music and your spirit have been a light in my life. And may YOU stay forever young (and I know you will, regardless of how long you live.). you're so beautiful in every imaginable way.
Who'd have thought the 'mommas taking us to the zoo tomorrow' beautiful singer would still be taking us to a beautiful place all these years later? Joan you look amazing, you still have a beautiful voice....I never missed the high note....and I guess that fantastic guitar is a Martin?? Keep all yr garage and grunge and hip hop, rap, and other rubbish...this is real talent..voice, music just talent. Thx joan for years of pleasure. Truly an icon. X

Madam, I grew up with your sound... I learnt English using your songs... you mean so much for all a generation of Spaniards.. from the Old Continent: THANKS. for your fight and love for LIFE. May you stay forever safe.
First of all Joan who sings so plainly, of cause, spirit a song that needs no introduction and is presented today to the heroes who do what they do so valiantly. Such a lady of so much light, candor and mystery- who could tell so many stories of painful roots, elbows bumped with poets, minstrels and rolling thunder. Hail great lady, stay safe under Gods wing and may you stay forever young! #truth #frontline #diamondsandrust
Thanks be to God, that we have Joan Baez as the Social Concience of the face of Corporate Greed. Been in love with Joan, since the 60s she is the Supreme Social Activist of our time
So true! And she's still inspiring new fans all the time! I'm around the same age she was when she first got popular, and it's amazing to think about it.
Wonderful dear Joan. You are a hero in words and song for so many years. Began at the Vietnam war. And saw you in Woodstock at the movie. Thank you for all that time your words are healing for many people.
Hello how are you doing. I hope you are safe and doing well? I'm Thomas from Virginia, looking for new friend and i saw your pic here. I hope you don't mind, thank you.
Thank you for speaking the truth and for your beautiful music. God bless all those on the frontline including healthcare workers, those providing security, food, water, power, gas, mail, and everything else we took for granted before this pandemic began. We all need to support one another in order to prevail, and we will!
I have always loved you Joan Baez and you've always been an inspiration throughout my whole life. Thank you. From Lumiar, Nova Friburgo, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Great words and music from such a talented lady. Joan in the early days always spoke on behalf of the oppressed and the injustices in this world and in 2020 still calls out loudly for what is right. How sad that after so many years it is still necessary for her to do so. With our protest songs we were going to change the world and create a lasting peace. Were we fools to think that? I don't believe so. Naive, perhaps but we can still - and must - call our leaders to account wherever in the world we live. We must never stop believing that we can live in a better world; a world where respect, love and harmony prosper.
Joan, you are still going as a voice of the divine feminine consciousness a pioneer of that spirit since the 60s. May you stay forever young. Thank you for a life of service through music and lyrics. Whatever is left in this world of decency, you are part of that.
God bless you Joan! you brighten these dark days we live in and have for long time. I've listened to you since before the days of Earl Scruggs. Hope you are well!
Thank you, Joan. It means so much to my husband and I, an ICU nurse (for the moment) and infectious disease doctor in NYC. We have been to your concerts and simply love you.
THANK YOU Joan Baez. I have admired your soul for50 years (or more - hate to realize just how long it has been) I appreciate your YOUness! Thanks for You.
