These films are true wonder! I mean those of 80s starring Francesca Annis and James Warwick: Why Didn't They Ask Evans, The Secret Adversary and the followup series Agatha Christie's Partners in Crime (1983-84). And in some episodes of Lillie (1978) they played together. I see some similarity to them as Phryne Fisher and Jack Robinson in Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries (2012-15).

Sara N, thank you for your kind words. This scene is so outstanding and somewhat 'aside from film' or even transcendental with that Whiteness of Heaven. And surely Joan Hickson appears here as true Lady of Mystery maybe foreseeing her own future as Miss Marple. My screen photo is from summer of 2005 when I choosed it for my mail and forum avatar. I saw the film earlier on TV but not remembered it then, and seen it online later, in 2009 or so (and rewatched several times later). And yes, entering in such a fragile room must be performed with greatest delicacy and tender.
The current adaptation is dire- the book is fast paced, the new drama isn’t! The actress playing Frankie is unable to project her voice and can hardly be understood- very nasally and her voice drops so that some words are hard to make out. Maybe out of her depth with an upper class accent
I adored her outrageousness. She could be comedic or straight, but always with flair. I would love to have met her. I'm in no doubt that she and I would have shared lots of laughs.
