There are sooooooo many. It's hard to say "the best". My favorite is The French Song from the yellow album. Or You Don't Know What You Got from the Bad Reputation. All subjective right. She gave us a lot of great tunes!!!
Yeah. Joan Jett had a couple good songs, but more than that, she had a reputation as a tough woman rocker with an attitude, and was impactful for what she represented in a male dominated world and industry. She started out as part of The Runaways in the late 70s, which was basically a group of young troubled teenage girls from "The Valley", that this creepy older guy put together to make a band that he could sell based off them being a band of only young girls. It's a whole thing, but you get the picture. They had a couple hits, like "Cherry Bomb" was probably their biggest hit, but they ended up being more pouplar over seas than in America. Like they were particularly big in Japan for whatever reason, which now maybe makes more sense? I don't know, but if you're interested there was a documentary made about it, I think made by one of the girls from the band, and an actual movie called "The Runaways", probably 15ish years ago, where a young Joan Jett was played by Kristen Stewart, and it also has Dakota Fanning that you've seen as the little girl from "Man On Fire"! "No Se!" Lita Ford also came out of that band. She's probably not on your radar yet, but she was another tough 80s rock chick that was known as one of the women that were really good guitar players, and she was a little more metal, for the time anyways, than Joan Jett. "Kiss Me Deadly" is probably the one song of hers that people remember. Good song! She also did a duet with Ozzy Osbourne called "Close My Eyes Forever" that was a thing.
Josn Jett was once a quiet and almost mousy young lady... then as a member of The Runaways she literally trained her confidence and presence into what you saw in this video. The legacy of The Runaways is truly astounding. Every member has a tale.
You never listen to Joan Jett I listened to her in The runaways the first all female rock band back in the 1970s listen to her as a solo artist when this song first came out in 1980 listen to Lita Ford who came from The Runaways also
Joan is the definition of cool. Not the greatest guitarist, not the greatest singer, not the greatest songwriter. But oozing cool that cannot be manufactured.
Joan Jett has a LOT of good songs! That song that you could hear in the beginning of the video was her song, Bad Reputation. She's always brings her hard rocking, no nonsense attitude in her music, and it's great!
“I Love Rock n Roll" song, the story: When Joan Jett was in her first band the Runaways (all teenage girl punk/metal influenced band) they toured London, England. The Arrows, in England, used this song as a "B-side" song to one of their hits in 1975 and when Joan heard it she INSTANTLY wanted to do a cover of it on the 2nd Runaways album. However, since the Runaways already did a cover with "Rock n Roll" in the title on the first album in 1976 (Lou Reed's "Rock n Roll"), the girls didn't want to have another song with "Rock n Roll" in the title and look "cheesy" so Joan held onto the song for a bit. Once the Runaways broke up and Joan started to pursue a solo career she originally recorded this song (as well as another one) w/ Steve Jones and Paul Cook of the Sex Pistols (another English Punk Rock group), It's on youtube if you want to hear it. When Joan formed the Blackhearts in 1980 (after she released her first solo record as just "Joan Jett", later renamed "Bad Reputation") her manager thought it was a good idea to RE-record the song w/ the Blackhearts and make it a stronger and less "Sophomoric" sounding and THIS is the result. The song went to #1 on the Billboard chart for 8 weeks in a row!!! The original video was shot in color, however Joan HATED the red jumpsuit they gave her so they decided to release it in black and white and they loved it because of its vintage look. The color version is now available as well.
E varianta cea mai cunoscută însă melodia originală a fost lansată în 1975 de către cei de la Arrows 👇👇 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cJzPLhDf3-8.htmlsi=S4YpTyufDe2-FzSG
This is a fantastic rock song. The original version is by a band called the Arrows i think? And its equally as good. Perfect example of an amazing song no matter who sings it!
Anthem. It's pronounced more like "Anne", like the name. Like Anne Boleyn, and "them", like they, them. So Anne-them. Sort of. In practice, at least in America, the "them" actually gets pronounced more like "thum", like thumb, like the shorter opposable finger on your hand. So, really, it's more like Anne-thumb. You're using more of a hard "T", like "talk" or "titty". I don't know if that's a Romanian thing. Like in Italian, the use of "c" or "ch" is pronounced the opposite as in English. So sometimes it extends to them mixing up words like "Tuesday" and "Thursday". Like, "Monday, Thursday, Wednesday, Tuesday, Friday, ..." You're not pronouncing the "th" in anthem correctly. It needs to be like the word "the" or "thanks".
THANK YOU for reacting to JOAN JETT!!! She is called the “Godmother of Punk” and “Queen of Rock n Roll”, and has pioneered women in hard rock since the 70’s! She got her first guitar at 13 as a Xmas present from her parents and was musically influenced by T-Rex, Bowie, Iggy Pop & SUZI QUATRO. At 15 years old she started the FIRST ALL GIRL punk/metal influenced hard rock band in 1975 which also featured a teenage Lita Ford on lead guitar and vocalist Cherie Currie (However, FANNY was the first all girl ROCK band but punk had not come into the music scene yet until the mid 70’s). In 1976 they debuted their first album “The Runaways” which spawned the classic song “Cherry Bomb”, which Joan Jett wrote as an audition song for vocalist Cherie Currie, alluding to her name and the fact that they were all “teenage firecrackers” (Cherie Currie, 16, wore a corset, fishnet stockings, black underwear and high heels on stage which gave them the reputation as “jailbait rock”). Although this was their most recognized song, it certainly does not define them as a band. Their album debuted the same time that Heart debuted their album “Dreamboat Annie”. Both bands had to deal with sexism and misogyny from the male dominated genre of hard rock, although Heart was backed by male band members, the Runaways got it worse being ALL teenage girls. They released “Queens of Noise” in 1977 and toured Japan where they were HUGE, they were NEVER taken seriously in America. Lead vocalist Cherie Currie quit the band during the tour making Joan the front girl of the band. After the tour they recorded what I think is their best album, “Waiting for the Night'' which Joan Jett wrote most of the songs, along with some songs written by Lita Ford. It was a punk/metal influenced album after touring in England and being exposed to the punk rock scene, later touring with the Ramones, Cheap Trick, etc. By 1978 there was heavy drug abuse and tension among the remaining 3 members of the band (Joan, Lita and drummer Sandy West) after they released their 4th and final studio album “And now, the Runaways” (which featured the song “Black Leather” written by Steve Jones and Paul Cook from the Sex Pistols). Joan Jett gravitated towards a Punk sound and both Lita and Sandy towards a more heavy metal sound. By Spring 1979 the band broke up and Joan Jett began her solo career which would last till this day. Later Lita Ford would also find mainstream success. In 1979 Joan Jett met Kenny Laguna, a producer who also became her manager. Together they set out to launch Joan’s solo career but NO ONE wanted Joan Jett. Joan recorded FIVE songs on a demo tape: “I Love Rock n Roll”, “Crimson and Clover”, “Do You Wanna Touch Me (Oh Yeah!), “Bad Reputation” and “You Don’t Own Me”. The demo was sent to *23* major, and minor, record labels. ALL *23* labels rejected her saying, in essence, she wasn’t marketable. Their letters said Joan “should lose the guitar” or “look prettier” and she needed a “song search”. Not giving up, Kenny Laguna took some money he had saved and both Kenny and Joan started their OWN record label, BLACKHEART Records. They recorded their first album titled “Joan Jett” in 1980 and sold their records at shows from the trunk of their car. Eventually they were signed on to Boardwalk Records and they re-released the album as “Bad Reputation”. Joan put an ad saying, “Wanted 3 good men” for a band and the Blackhearts were formed. While still struggling as a woman in hard rock the band recorded the album “I Love Rock n Roll”. The title track went to #1 on the Billboard chart for 8 weeks in a row!!! The next single “Crimson and Clover” went to #5 (a cover song from Tommy James and the Shondells which Kenny Laguna temporarily played keyboards with and he brought the song for Joan to sing). They re-released the songs “Bad Reputation” and “Do You Wanna Touch Me” and they became hits. The video for “Bad Reputation” was a JAB at all 23 record labels that rejected her (note that the 4 songs that were rejected were 4 hits on the Billboard charts). Joan Jett was HUGE and was touring with Queen, the Rolling Stones, Aerosmith and other big bands. In 1983 she released the album called “Album” which had 2 hits “Fake Friends” and a cover of Sly and the Family Stones’ “Everyday People”. In 1986 she appeared in the movie “Light of Day” with Michael J. Fox, with her acting performance getting great reviews, and the title track song written by Bruce Springsteen. In 1988 “Up your Alley” was released and 2 songs were hits “I Hate Myself For Loving You” and “Little Liar”. In 1990 “The Hit List” was released, an album of ALL cover songs, including the covers of “Dirty Deeds (Done Dirt Cheap)” by AC/DC, “Love Hurts” by Nazareth and “Have You Ever Seen The Rain” by CCR. In the early 90’s the Grunge era came but Joan continued putting out albums and non stop touring. “Notorious” (1992) and “Pure and Simple” (1994) were released. Joan also did other TV shows and movies such as “Boogie Boy”. In 2000 she was doing “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” on Broadway playing Magenta. “Naked” CD was released in Japan (not in America) which had the song “Science Fiction, Double Feature”. In 2006 she released the “Sinner” CD which had the video for the song “ACDC”, a cover of the Sweets’ song (about bisexuality) which featured Carmen Elektra. Joan Jett also toured the Vans Warped Tour main stage that year. In 2013 she released “Unvarnished” and the song/video for “Any Weather” co written by Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl and the song “Soulmates to Strangers” co written by Trans musician Laura Jane Grace from Against Me. In 2015 Joan Jett and the Blackhearts were inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame after the previous year when Joan Jett performed “Smells Like Teen Spirit” w/ Nirvana when they were inducted. Throughout the years Joan Jett has written songs for other artists such as Alice Cooper, L7, Bikini Kill, etc. She was dubbed the leader of the “Riot Girrl” movement of the 90’s. She produced other bands and signed them to her Blackheart Records label. She is an animal activist for P.E.T.A. For years she also goes to play free shows for American troops overseas bringing them “a piece of home”. She is a singer, musician, songwriter, producer, record label owner, activist, pioneer, legend and Icon. Below will be some links to Official Videos and performances. For a more in depth account of her history check out the Showtime music documentary “Bad Reputation” it’s on RU-vid.
Hey Madalena, if you are up for something fast. I mean so fast that you have problems reading the lyrics while he is singing (growl rapping) them and the intruments trying to break lightspeed then check out Archspire - Golden Mouth of Ruin ....and dont forget your seatbelt.
Ever hear "Cherry Bomb"? It's by the Runaways. The Runaways had several (very young) women who formed a group that became famous. From that group two went famous as solo artists: Joan Jett, and Lita Ford. Joan Jett did a few very famous songs (including this one), "I Hate Myself for Loving You", "I Don't Give a Damn (about my bad Reputation", and others. Lita Ford was perhaps most famous for her duet with Ozzy called "If I Close My Eyes Forever". Joan Jett, after leaving the Runaways would go to try to find a label at 17 different places and was turned down - so she formed her own label.
your comment about the bilingual person who listened to a song from another language when young and making up lyrics, then after you learn the language the song was sung in and you realize the lyrics...well...that is me with nearly every song, except I only speak english. I have always had a hard time making out words in songs from a very young age i guess my brain is broken. After being frustrated through my teens, I quit trying to make out words. But now I am over 50 and it is like my brain kicked in and now I hear the words. it is weird - but yeah I know what you mean. But too bad now I can hear words, but can't remember them because my memory is going. Hopefully, I only have to deal with it a few more years.
Oh yes 🙌 this song is an anthem and Joan Jett is the original female badass. I mean come on her band is called Joan Jett and the Blackhearts . Can’t get anymore awesome than that. And now I will spend the rest of the day with this song stuck in my head.
Back in my high school days there was a pizza joint where I used to hang out a lot with my buddies. When this song first released, the management got it on a 45 (vinyl record) and put it in their jukebox. I may have spent more money in that jukebox than I did on pizza. I've been a die-hard fan ever since. So many more great songs from this amazing performer, I hope you keep coming back to her. "I HATE MYSELF FOR LOVING YOU" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bpNw7jYkbVc.html is a terrific pick for a follow-up song from Joan and the boys.
Joan Jett was an opening act to a show went to as a teen in the 80s. She totally dominated the stage. We all walked out blown away knowing THAT was rock n roll 🎸⚡️☠️
Love Joan Jett! Her band, The Runaways, was the first successful all girl band, broke through the ceiling that existed at that time. Joan decided to disband The Runaways because of the band members started going in different musical directions, and she didn't want to get fired from the band she created. Remember, Lita Ford was also a key member in The Runaways. I've seen Joan and The Blackhearts many, many times and she is a force to see live! Joan is still touring, btw!
excellent song brings back memories of my childhood how old I feel but how nice it is to listen to these songs again that marked an era what the singer's voice 10/10 good video greetings from Uruguay 🇺🇾 I love your videos and reactions😊❤
Song was originally by British band The Arrows in 1975 - But Joan Jett really made it better. Rock n Roll isn't just about music, as I see it. It's an attitude to life. And Joan Jett has it in her blood and bones.
I love Rock and Roll…”I throughly enjoy a screaming singer, a loud guitar and a tribal beat on drums accompanied with the low end of a bass” How can you not like it?!
Hello 👋 Miss Bisscute !!! Many People liked Joan Jett's Grunge Rock Yet in My Humble Opinion couldn't hold a Candle to Pat's insane Vocal Ability !!! For Me Personally I belive Pat should have Been inducted to the Rock & Roll Hall of fame long ago !!!! Like Anne & Nancy Wilson of Heart . Yet allow Me to introduce to you a other power house Female,Of the Time Tina Turner's ( What's Love got to do with it ) Headed down the Strong Rock Goddesses of the 80 ' s. !!! Yet I offer you this Fun one from the GoGo's ( Our Lipps are sealed ) All female Group😊
Haha, I can totally relate to your comment about listening to songs in a different language when you don't know it yet / as a child and then years later, when you speak that language, finally understanding what the lyrics were about. It is fun, or strange sometimes.
Actually this is a cover version of 1975 song I love rock'n'roll by the band called The Arrows ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8AT_Pbtyid0.html

Joan Jett started in an all girl rockband called The Runaways (one of their most well songs is Cherry Bomb). She then went solo & is known for this song, Bad Reputation & I Hate Myself For Loving You. She also did a great cover of the song Crimson & Clover 🙂
Hello there joyfull person ! I like your reactions to music 😊. Got a question for you : Would you react to a song performed by Slash of Guns 'n Roses ? It's called "Killing floor " and it's a cover of a 1964 blues song by "Howlin Wolf " . I'm curious what you think of it , since blues is considered "old people music " 😂!! Greetings from the Netherlands 🤘.
Good afternoon Bisscute It’s been a while that you don’t react to Putri Ariani ( she had performed in malaysia sang 13 songs , you can find her at : official konser Putri Ariani ) start with song I will survive ,please we miss you when we cried together i AGT Golden Buzzer of our Princess Thank you so much From southern California USA 👍☝️😃❤️🙏
Joan Jett was a force of nature in the 80s after her band The Runaways fell apart. Personally, I've heard this song waaaaay too much growing up, and having to play it in a couple bands. I highly suggest Bad Reputation (the song in the opening), I Hate Myself for Loving You, Do you Wanna Touch Me, and her cover of Crimson and Clover. It's also worth checking out Cherry Bomb by her previous band, The Runaways, and Kiss me Deadly by Lita Ford (the other guitarist from the Runaways).
you should react to "Cherry Bomb" by The Runaways. It's the all girl rock band Joan was in and they're all teenagers. Also, check out her song "Do You Wanna Touch Me"
Joan Jett's god a hard edge to her that comes through in almost every song she sings. Her "Bad Reputation" is a serious "in your face!" tune with lots of energy. P.S. When Weird Al came out with "I Love Rocky Road" way back in his early days, he captured that "edge" beautifully, and he was just getting started. (hint, hint! *wink, wink*)
"Numa Numa" as it was known as in America at the time was so catchy at the time. We didn't care what it meant. It was just catchy. Just like a lot of foreign music. "(Rock Me) Amadeus" which was in German was the same way. Also "Gangnam Style" by Psy". "Macarena" by Los del Rios (I think). "Despacito" (original). Too many to count. The reality is that many people don't know the lyrics (at least not totally correct) even in their own language. Listening to it in another language just doesn't matter - if it sounds good, we like it. If we know the lyrics, so much the better. The Miami Sound Machine had some English lyric songs, but often also released them in Spanish.
Oh yeah, I know the what that is like. KISS sang "dneu moh mene" which was what I got from "Detroit Rock City" on their record, then I had my dad sing it to me and translate the text. My dad was a very good father so after dinner, he'd spend the time with me to do that. My mother could have done it just as easily but she wanted us to have that time. My dad wasn't a musician but both him and my mum had amazing voices.
hello, let me introduce myself, Gino from Indonesia... Can you record a band from Indonesia, the name of the band is Djin, the title of the song is Stockholm Syndrome, thank you in advance
1982 - I wasnt even a real teenager (11/12 years old) and just started listening to more and more music and got my first hi-fi equipment for playing vinyl and tape at the same tme. As a german boy I was influenced by shitty teenager magazines and television. In that time the "neue deutsche Welle" started to explode (Nena, Spliff, etc). This was one of the few rock songs I listened to in my early teenager years. And of course I made up my lyrics all the time cause there was no internet. Sometimes you had the luck that lyrics were printed on the album inlay for the vynil (you know - CDs werent a thing in the early 80s) but not very much albums had that. 7"-singles almost never had lyrics and most "mainstream" teenagers (and I certainly was one) bought more "singles" than albums cause they were just cheaper. I had so many lyrics totally wrong and found out about later... it is really surprising how wrong you can be 😀 Was a really different time back then. Thanks a lot for your reaction - like always. Brought back some crazy old memories 🙂
I think young Miss Bisscute wants to be a bad*** like Joan Jett. I really liked Joan Jett when she played an immortal in the Highlander TV series episode called "Free Fall". Classic, take a flying header off a twenty story building and live.
"Weird Al" Yankovic has some ALT lyrics for you to enjoy... I LOVE ROCKY ROAD (Ice Cream): "I hear those ice cream bells and I start to drool Keep a couple quarts in my locker at school Yeah, but chocolate's gettin' old Vanilla just leaves me cold There's just one flavor good enough for me, yeah me Don't gimme no crummy taste spoon I know what I need Baby, I love rocky road So won't you go and buy half a gallon, baby? I love rocky road So have another triple scoop with me, ow They tell me ice cream junkies are all the same All the soda jerkers know my name When their supply is gone Then I'll be movin' on But I'll be back on Monday afternoon, you'll see Another truck load's comin' in for me, all for me I'm singin' I love rocky road So won't you go and buy half a gallon, baby? I love rocky road So have another triple scoop with me, ow Oh, make it talk When I'm all alone, I just grab myself a cone And if I get fat and loose my teeth, that's fine with me Just lock me in the freezer and throw away the key Singing I love rocky road So won't you go and buy half a gallon, baby? I love rocky road So have another triple scoop with me I love rocky road So won't you go and buy half a gallon, baby? I love rocky road So have another triple scoop with- I love rocky road So won't you go and buy half a gallon, baby? ... so now you need to watch the video (and listen to the song) that came out around the same time as this one. It's called "Do Ya Wanna Touch" and it's a great performance... and a GREAT VIDEO. Plus you get to see Joan Jett in a bikini!!!!!
Hello Bisscute, I'm glad to see you back from your break. I'm so glad you took some time for yourself. I think it's important to protect one's mental health, and "burnout" is a very real thing. So, I hope you had fun and got some well-deserved rest... Glad to have you back! 🎧🎶
Nah nah nah! don't get to into Your "not a Native language" filter. A lot of rock songs have famously been misinterpreted. "Weird Al" Yankovic has made a hall of fame career out of it. Native English speakers get lyrics wrong all day. "Weird Al" did this one as "I Love Rocky Road" which is a great flavor of ice cream (at least for the olds)
Even if songs are in native language, people make up their own words. Have a look at Peter Kay's Misheard Lyrics ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7my5baoCVv8.html
Biss, I'm too dumb to speak more than one language. When I was a kid you would occasionally get lyrics as an insert in the record album and that was huge help; at least everyone was singing the same thing in the car. Now we have lyric videos, closed captioning, basically... the internet with lyrics for everything. So it's a similar feeling when I find out I've had the lyrics wrong on a favorite song - for FORTY years! Even though I only speak and sometimes understand English.
Please can you kindly react to the 1984 song 'Do they Know it Christmas' by Band Aid. It was the precursor to the song 'We are the World' to which you reacted earlier, and done in aid of the same cause. Here is the link - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SetcTxRRycc.html Thanks.
You should do a reaction to the woman that Joan Jet looks up to, the original leather clad rock chick SUZI QUATRO, try "Devil gate drive" or any of her songs and you will see where Joan got her inspiration from.
She hated the red jumpsuit that she was wearing in the video, so they made it black and white before giving it to MTV. I think the full color version is on youtube. But as a kid, when the song came out, we saw the black and white version. The song was #1 for 7 straight weeks in 1982 in the U.S.
