In 1429 when King Charles VII asked Joan d'Arc what sort of reward she desired for her services to the French Crown, she requested for her fellow townspeople in Domrémy to no longer be burdened by the excessively harsh taxation system. King Charles granted her request by subsequently decreeing that Domrémy, which was renamed to Domrémy-la-Pucelle following her death, to be exempt from taxes "forever".The decree remained in effect unhindered for over 360 years untill it was revoked following the French Revolution.
The fair King had also given me 300 bricks of gold, most of which was already spent on extremely dangerous relics. The back of our supply wagon looked like a holy alchemical lab. We had two bags of holy grass, seventy-five pellets of gold dust, five sheets of highly potent holy water, a jar half full of ritual salts, and a whole gaggle of pilgrims, priests, crazies and wisemen. Not to mention a quart of wine, a quart of rum, an extra crucifix, a case of incense, and two dozen pack animals.
Another Extra History Complete for the soul! This was also actually the first ever series I watched in full years ago, which is quite the coincidence. What an amazing belated birthday gift! :D
Interesting. Her boyfriend/companion was one of the first serial killers in history, worshipped Satan, and sacrificed 200 people in his dungeon. People ages 8-20 were sacrificed to Satan. She knowingly stayed w him until his public confession later...
Dang! :-( If EH wants this video to be more accessible to a wider audience, they oughta do whatever needs editing! Hopefully, they won't mind doing so!
When her soul ascended from the pyre, all the church bells of France gave their final farewell to the Maid of Orléans. As the martyre made her way to the Gates of Saint Peter, she was welcomed by Saint Mary the Mother of Christ. The heavenly host sang of her glory and heaven welcomed home the Patron Saint of France, Joan of Arc!
No need to calm down. Saint Joan of Arc Pray for me, that I may bear all unavoidable sacrifice and suffering in love as a way of sharing Christ’s humility; that I may live in God’s grace and return to God from whom I came. Amen.
Joan of Arc changed society and continues to influence history today through her poor upbringing and dedicated early life, her heroics and bravery in battle, her courage and defiance during her trial, and her role and influence as a Catholic saint. + she is a badass woman no wonder when the English captured her the cooked up the case so they can burn her to the stake on English at those times he is on the enemy no.1 list of England
I play age of empires so seeing a video based on one of the major stories of the game and the fact she's my fav character, makes me happy that I get to learn more about her
She's such a famous figure in France that even non-religious families such as mine know her story. I've admired her and her bravery ever since my mother and I passed her statue in Paris and my mother recounted what she knew of Jeanne's story.
Ooh hell yeah. A discretionary notice. Always gets my foot in the door. And you got to keep your monetization. It's like getting two birds stoned at once
at 29:47 the video mentioned that the ''doctors had to pull the arrow through her shoulder in order to dislodged it , she insisted to rejoin the attack... ... '' This is nonsense, the English were using mostly a 800 grain bodkin pin arrowhead at the time and with such a serious and high impact wound to the shoulder, massive and severe damage would have occured instantly to the shoulder area, collar bone, ripping muscle tissues and internal bleeding including infection, since most arrowhead were rusted being in such a humid climate. Such a massive arrow going through the shoulder area, weeks of care would have been necessary. Jehanne was wearing complete armor with steel chest place. English, longbow or warbow arrows couldn't penetrate 15th century armor ! She was at the base of a fortress wall , behind a protective wooden fence, looking up and she was hit on the side of the neck .... she was brought back to the main military tent, she was crying and quite upset then, a dressing of honey, meat and clay was applied to stop the flow of blood and to stop the infection. She rested a few hours and returned to her post at the base of the fortress wall.
I first saw this when I was younger then Joan and the thought it was cool. Now that I’m older I’m bummed out that I haven’t yet freed France. I’m a complete failure
50:20 - 1453 was a also the last year of the 100 years war. It was marked by the Battle of Castillion, near Bordeaux. It was the also marked by the death of John Talbot, and his favorite son, in that battle. John had faced Joan in 1429, and was 66 at his death.
Wow, I didn’t even know that Joan Park was a real person. I learned something in my 55 years thanks for Sharing this history of this warrior, get them🤣🤣🤣
Religion is not something the people who make movies are fond of, especially Catholicism and there would be too much trouble in trying to make their own spin on an important religious figure.
@@MW_AsuraThere's also a tactical RPG game originally on the PSP called Jeanne d'Arc. And she's a playable character in Warriors Orochi 3 and 4 Ultimate.
