Her performance of this song here ... it's how I want to hear it. It is patient and gentle and winsome. I've heard other live versions that almost feel hurried and lose a little bit of that soft, shy sincerity that just breaks my heart and brings me to tears.
No matter how many times I've heard her songs, whenever I see a new live performance pop up like this one, it's like I'm hearing them for the first time. And I love her hilarious recovery from mixing up the words! She's absolutely stunning and I PRAY she comes to Christchurch, New Zealand soon!!
Her voice sounds so natural and smooth here. One of her best performances to me. Sometimes I feel like she puts on the "baby voice" a little extra to be different but this one sounded so relaxed and amazing.
It’s actually a way women used to sing in folk ballad traditions of the Appalachian mountains and Scottish highlands etc. She’s talked about it before and said she really dislikes when people call that style of singing childlike or babyish because there’s a whole wider context to it.
