This is the second interview with Ms. Vargas I've watched. I find her utterly charming, sincere and her kindness shows through. Plus her gorgeous, glowing skin is the best advertising.
Just on the subject of age in the beauty industry. To the employers out there I’m 41 and my age group often has more income to go towards beauty products and treatments I want to be looked after by people my age group or older whether I’m having a facial or buying beauty products. I want their knowledge experience and their understanding of my needs. I notice when a brand employs older staff like for example Clinique, Clarins, Dior and it matters to me it says a lot about the ethos of that company!
Thank you so much for having Joanna Vargas on your channel. She is so respectful of others. If I had the money, I'd be headed down to her Southern California spa at the earliest opportunity. (I'm so glad to know my skin is better because I no longer drink alcohol!)

Really refreshing to hear a frank discussion on alcohol from skincare, health, and social perspectives. I don't drink (21 now, last had soemthing age 18, had sips and such as a child at new year) because I've never felt that need or desire. I've lost friends over their desire to prioritise their alcohol based fun over mine as the sober friend is almost always left carrying the burden. I don't mean this to disparage drinkers, but fully agree with Caroline: there is nothing worse than not bringing your A game, wherever you are. Such a nice discussion taking that culture seriously
Halajula!! Queen Hirons hits the nail on the head again! The contraceptive implant caused me 7 years of hell and cystic acne. No one ever thought to tell me this could be the cause. 2 rounds of roaccutaine and a destroyed self esteem I finally made the connection myself. I wish I had known this before my 20s became a right off!
I have the implant in my arm and started getting cystic acne shortly after getting it inserted, after never having acne before in my life. I got the odd hormonal spot here and there, sure, but now I'm talking painful, angry and huge spots all over my face, primarily chin and forehead. I've changed my skincare, diet and lifestyle countless times to try and figure out what was causing the acne, and never even thought the implant could be the reason. My confidence has dropped to almost nothing since my skin changed and I've tried so hard not to care, but it's so hard going from thinking that you know your skin and thinking that it's as close to "perfect" as it could be to looking like my face has constant chickenpox. It only now, watching this video when Caroline mentioned it, hit me that it must be the implant that's causing it. I actually started crying when I heard Caroline say it, don't know if it was happiness or sadness. I have decided I will be getting the implant taken out asap. Thank you Caroline for mentioning this! X

I had a facial at Ms. Vargas' in NYC and it was wonderful. I decided that for the first time I would visit NYC, I wanted a low key experience as a treat. Everyone was super friendly and the LED bed is an awesome! It was like a nice retreat that was super thorough and relaxing.
What a great way to describe the differences between dermatologist and facialists! I agree that derms don't usually know much about what you put on your face other than the basics, like Neutrogena, Cerave, Cetaphil. I cant believe derms still recommend Cetaphil cleanser!

I can so relate, thank you for the pore talk. I have had big pores my whole life and I have learned to make them look smaller. All of us that are over 45 are rocking it, damnit give us credit for that. I’m 48 and I have lived my life, not lived through Instagram nor do I want the insta look everyday. Love ya both
It seems that US doctors like to prescribe Accutane in very strong amounts. After hearing horror stories about it, I asked 2 different dermatologists to find a more gentle method of dealing with the cystic acne on my sensitive skin, but they insisted that nothing else would be as effective. So the next 6 months were very rough as my skin shriveled up and my lips peeled off multiple times a day. The Accutane did break the cycle of continuous breakouts, but it was such a painful experience, and of course I still had regular breakouts from stress and my menstrual cycle. It wasn't until I watched Allana Davison (Canadian) talk about using a low-strength prescription that I realized Accutane didn't have to be administered in such strong amounts. Maybe that's why Americans are more prone to say "no" to Accutane. US doctors need to make sure they're prescribing the appropriate strength.
Rebecca Beard I did two courses of Accutane as a kid, at age 12 and 15. They gave me the highest possible dose. The side effects were so terrible-I had to take oatmeal baths all the time because my entire body was itchy and dry. and it didn’t solve the hormonal breakouts either, for me only birth control fixed my acne. My pediatrician also said going on it so young probably stunted my growth by about two inches in height, which is hard to know for certain but given that I come from a naturally tall family, is not insignificant. (My derm prescribed it, not my pediatrician.)
I love Joana Vargas! I would kill for her to see my face and get a treatment from her! It’s easier for me to go visit family in NY. Although, having you HRH seeing my face that would give me life!
