This is the best recording for this concerto. I have a cassette tape of this record. When I was 15, I listened to it everyday, still not tired of hearing it time after time.
I got the Mercury Living Presence CD recording of this on a lark at a resale store since I was in a borrowed car that didn't have bluetooth hookup-the CD never left the tray it's such a lovely little album that just loops very very well. A new favorite.
Le Concerto andalou (Concierto Andaluz) est un concerto pour quatre guitares et orchestre écrit par Joaquín Rodrigo en 1967. Il s'agit d'une commande de la famille Romero, formant un quatuor, le membre le plus connu étant Pepe Romero. La création a eu lieu en novembre 1967 avec l'orchestre de San Antonio (Texas) sous la direction de Victor Alessandro et les Romero (Celedonio, Celin, Pepe et Angel) en solistes. La musique est inspirée par des danses andalouses populaires. L'œuvre comprend trois mouvements et sa durée d'exécution est d'environ vingt-cinq minutes. 1. Tiempo de Bolero (allegro vivace) 2. Es una pena que de Joaquin Rodrigo solo se mencione el Concierto de Aranjuez. El concierto Madrigal es otra maravilla, con su zapateado... Fantasia para un gentil hombre y su españoleta... Este hombre era uno de los grandes.
