In the field, I've found the best solution is to rub cooking oil on the o rings and in the socket aperture.

Hi, I had the same problem. In the end I went over to the Whale kit and kept the Truma as a spare. The Whale is a much better design IMHO. Great video , cheers Nick

Yeah. I use silcone grease on the o rings. Fits in perfectly. Part of usual maintenance.

Silicone lubricant is what should be used for any oring

I see that Swift didn't fit the push fit pipe inserts on your van either. I expect they omit them to save money, despite the recommendation of John Guest (who make the fittings) to always fit a pipe insert and a retainer clip. It's really shoddy of Swift to skimp on this (which only costs a couple of quid per caravan) given what they charge as it eventually leads to leaks. I took a couple hours to disconnect every red and blue pipe then fit inserts and retaining clips to my caravan after one of my connecters started leaking. It would have taken the Swift production operator a few seconds to fit them during the build. As for those O rings, I smear the tinniest amount of silicon grease on mine. Helps insertion and removal of the pistol grip .

Food grade grease is the answer, yes it is a thing 👍

Vaseline should not be used on O rings as it can degrade the rubber. As you have used olive oil is fine but better still is a food grade/water safe silicone spray or grease.
