Sir please tell your life journey like from where you studied in India, when did you come to USA and how you came to USA or what motivates you to become a professor. You're such an inspiration for me. 🙏
I agree with him that interview preparation is very important. I had given an interview in a company about my work, and everything was going well until they asked me general questions about my weaknesses, strengths, and where I see myself in five years. I gave a stupid answer that I would make my own company. When they asked about my weaknesses, I was shocked and didn't know what to say. I told them it was a difficult question. It was my first time in this type of interview, and at the end, when they asked if I had any questions, I said no. I didn't get the job after the second round of interviews. From this experience, I learned that preparation is crucial. I thought they would ask about my work, but I was wrong. Experience makes you better, and one thing to keep in mind is that if you don't do well on one question, try to give a good answer to all the other questions. Our mood gets off, and we feel low in other parts. These are my few tips. Note that I am also a Ph.D. holder.
Thanks, Dr. for sharing this insightful video. I have about 10 months to defend my thesis and wanted to start with job search now. Are you able to recommend a few academic job websites for me to explore?
Sir your videos have been a great help to provide insights on studying in US. Can you please recommend best universities for MSIS program. It is becoming very difficult to exactly compare universities for MSIS program. It would be great help for many students.

Namaste! Very helpful video. Thank you! I am doing PhD in India and I’m going to submit my thesis in a few months. My family is in USA on work visa. So I am looking for academia jobs in US and move to US after completing my PhD. What is procedure applying? How to improve my chances of acceptance? Please advise.
Hi sir your video is very informative .. I have completed master of Arts in English Literature and language in india . If I want to do doctoral degree or phd , which one should I go with ? Can you please give me some details on it ?
academia and industry are not two individual things. There are thousands and thousands of jobs that exist on both sides. At least on the industry side there are thousands and in academia there are 100s. So how can you compare so many things? The only way for fair comparison is the kind of opportunity a specific degree (MS/PhD) will get you in industry vs academia. For example, how a PhD in Computer Science will help you in industry vs academia.
Congratulations on the FT50 professor ✌️✌️, learned a lot about Information Risk I'm a Doctoal candidate from India in information systems and would be graduating by the end of 2023. I wanted to know, what as per you would be the criteria (publication and otherwise) for a Fresh PhD to join in a institute like UT Arlington and others such universities or BSchools.
for a fresh phd, if they have three or more papers in their pipeline or dissertation and one paper under review at MISQ/ISR/JMIS/JAIS, they have a decent chance
Sir,Can there be any advantage of being professor in the same University you've done your phd or postdoc?(like they are supposed to have a familiarity with your profile and qualification)
In my experience, I believe that we should change our learning environment to explore new things. If you stay in one place for a long time, your growth may not be sufficient. This is my personal opinion, and it's possible that I could be mistaken
I have only done teaching assistance (grading of students' assignments and exams) but I have not taught my own course. Can this hinder me from getting an academic position? Is this a major issue?
It depends on the discipline. If other candidates have taught full courses and you have not, they will have one extra point over you. In my case, I had taught for three semesters and won a teaching award as well. So that helped me in the job market.
Hi sir, Could you guide as well as advised us regarding PhD, where should we go My wife is a government teacher in Pakistan of 16th scale of chemistry subject as well as Lab In charge Also & has M.Phil in Biochemistry with 3.5 GPA. Now she wants to enroll a PhD program, could u guide us, where should her to go for PhD in USA or Canada??? Best Regards.
Respected Sir, If someone has done his/her PhD from a premiere institute in India for ex-IISc, can he/she become a professor in any university in US?(in STEM)
much harder. Usually the qualifications (based on quality and quantity of publications and to some extent teaching experience) of US based candidates are much higher. Even if somehow a candidate from India qualifies, the university will have to spend a lot of money to buy their international flight ticket to interview them on campus. So it is easier and better to hire US based candidates.
@@DesiAmericanProfessor I do agree with you sir. But these days somewhat trends are changing (maybe am not sure). I am saying this because one of my distant relatives is planning to join Florida State University as an Asst. Professor. He has done his PhD in Optimization from IITM. Therefore, I just want to know that if there are so many universities in US and one is not targetting top universities, then I think it would be easier to join other universities if one has done good quality PhD work in India. I would like to know your opinion. Thank you
It is not impossible but quite uncommon. When I was a PhD student, we had a professor who was a PhD from IIT Delhi. He then became a professor in the US. But such instances are very uncommon.
@@DesiAmericanProfessor sir what about doing PhD in India and then doing post doc in usa or Canada?. One more thing most of the professors have done PhD from usa or Canada and guiding research scholars in IIM and iit. Is it bad and does quality differs.
The Problem with USA and Texas Arlington to move to Teaching is NOT CORRECTLY Structured. After a Phd you need to to a PGCHE (Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education) in a UK University FIRST. Join the Higher Education Academy (if in doubt research in Google). PGCHE is 12 Months long and a Thesis in Education and 3 Observations by external Moderators. English delivery is very Important. Apply for a teaching post at the University. Progress and AFTER 12 YEARS you can be appointed to a Professorship. That is the Time Scale. It seems in the USA a Phd is a requisite to become a Lecturer at a University?? How dumb is this!!!. That is the Partway. Salaries in Teaching is LOW and not for Indians who are motivated with Money. If you need to pursue Research and Publishing of Peer Reviewed Articles with serious Publication. Phd is a waste for Indians as the research is a HYPOTHESIS and Time wasted for which there is NO monetisation of your work. Universities require you to PUBLISH regularly as it UPS the Uni Profile. This is part of your tenure Contract, publish or be dammed. This means HOURS of reading and synthesising your domain research and it can take up to 3 years for Publication. You have no Social Time for Sex. Phd is theoretical, sample data, analysis and GOING NO WHERE. As I said before, this channel needs to be HONEST as backdoor to Hell USA. Phd is a backdoor emigration into the USA for LOW Salary. The Price to PAY for living in an advanced economy is NOT worth it. You become an OLD MAN when you wish to Date, Marry and have children. TOTAL HOPELESSNESS.
