If you play the Jobava London system then you lick your chops when an opponent falls into a vicious attacking line. But what happens when your opponent is too strong for that? Enter world champion Magnus Carlsen. In this game he plays the Jobava London system against Benjamin Bok, a player rated 2600. An opponent of this caliber will already have a good response to the Jobava London figured out. In this game we see the world champ showing us how to play the Jobava London system even when your opponent knows exactly how to handle it.
Magnus Carlsen vs. Benjamin Bok

Alas, no bridge for Black to cross the chasm at e5. Very nifty performance by the former champ. John, my boy, you’re some story teller. Excellent.

Analyzes genius play by world champion. Conclusion: "so as you can see WE can still win when nothing seems to work". Haha, if only things were that easy. Great video!

Yes thats all right. Probably in this game he showed, he is the best endgame, middlegame and opening player.

Enjoyed the commentary and subscribed. You call Magnus the greatest endgame-player of all time. But there are some others who can well compete with him, such as Lasker, Aljekhin, Smyslow, Fischer. The last named champion was well-known for his perfect and machine-like technique after he got the slightest advantage. But certainly Carlsen is the best nowadays.

Instructive game, not sure the opening had so much to do with the result, though.

(5:48) "Rook to c8": don't understand this move - why doesn't Black play a5 himself (or maybe even Na5) to halt White's A pawn?

@@chessdawg nice so is I’m 1500 online I’d be way low OTB?

Generally, online ratings are higher than OTB. But not automatically. If you want to play OTB you should just jump in and do it. It can only make you a stronger player.@@Woodflooralchemist
