Funny how last week Jack was super prepared for BUDS and Mitch wasn’t prepared at all and both made it through and were successful. Warrior mentality. Cool to hear from the younger generation. Great stuff as always.
David goggins has talked how he wasn’t prepared either. He lost all that weight but he wasn’t healthy he claims that’s a major factor for why he went through 3 hellweeks.
I'm a Senior Chief in the Navy , still active and listening to this guys made wish I had done it back in the days, Jocko is a beast and a true American hero, Mitch is also a beast and my hat off to him, but what really gets me is what a humble man he is and I have to also add his sense of humor combined with his down to earth personality is awesome.
Jocko's problem is the whole "EXTREME OWNERSHIP" thing is BS. All the wars we have fought can be traced to lies and decit, they made us less safe & free and if we apply EXTREME OWNERSHIP, well VOLUNTEERING to be part of the Military that has DESTROYED countries like Iraq and Afghanistan all in the name of generic "Freedumb". What exactly has the military done to keep us free, I would say everyone who participated actually made us less free. So that is why EXTREME OWNERSHIP is total BS, cause if you go EXTREME, volunteering to be part of it in the first place is where you should start.
Although I know it wasn't, this interview felt a lot like a therapeutic therapy session for Mitch. With Daddy Jocko there to listen about experiences that not many others can relate to. Huge respect to both men.
Also you have to love jockos sensibility. Dude talks about all kinds of crazyshit but when he clams up about hitting IEDs jocko just moves along right away. Doesnt want to make the dude tell a horror story he doesnt want to relive.
Hey jocko I’m 22 and I have been listening to the podcast for A couple Months Now and Today I ran 2miles in 13mins and been staying the path on my diet I would like to say thank you for helping me Get after it
Hope your still going strong brother ! A lot of us out here pushing for a better life because of this man and men like him 2 years sober 265lbs to 175 and have 2 amateur Muay Thai fights under my belt getting after it saved my life ! Stay strong
Dude the BUDs class 234 documentary that discovery channel made in 2000 is sickkk , someone uploaded it onto RU-vid but they’ve since taken it down. Just imagine tho if it were a class before (233) we would have seen Chris Kyle and if it were the class after (235) we would have seen David Goggins. Still sick nonetheless.
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-F0fDLgiYQjo.html It has been uploaded again. They did show a short clip of an earlier class rooting them on right after hell week. I wonder if Kyle was in that shot?
Mitch told the same tale that all foot soldiers have since the beginning of time. I was a grunt, and could relate to alot of what he said, as could all soldiers deployed in a forward area since WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam.
I mean look, I listen to these and love them all. Most stuff I hear on these podcasts is pretty tough as far mental toughness is concerned but I have done more roofing than I care to admit and never once while doing it did I ever think, man I like this here roofing. NEVER!!
Doing union commercial & industrial roofing earned me a shit ton of money & left me collecting a pension id need to earn $2k a week to match ,the 1 thing about roofing for a career is the first years are about paying your dues & earning a spot on the A team .
@apache0060 Would you say jealous or fond? to me his tonality is more on the inquisitive side of the spectrum? maybe I am biased ahahaha good observation though bro
Jocko needs to lighten up. He’s too uptight in this one. Aside from whatever age joke you’re referring to I just feel like he has a stick up his ass on this podcast for some reason
I find it funny that he was complaining about the living conditions in combat, that pretty much how most marine infantry units live. Eating MREs and being dirty as hell and surrounded by the Enemy in a forward outpost without the high speed gear.
Who cares. He's a seal. And he's American. Complaining is normal. Marines aren't special. They recruit outside fast food establishments and play a Schwarzenegger action move clip and meat heads sign up. Lol they are just guys with no future who need something to do and need a purpose. Like a 3rd grade teacher.
Slappy happy that’s funny that Marines have no future, yet we produce the best officer Corps our military has to offer and if you do your research, countless celebrities and political leaders have been Marines. Shit most of the Marines I know are successful. Let’s just call like it is, you’re a Seal fan boy. Having trained with some of the most elite Warriors our nation has produced I can tell you that not all SEALs are created equal. Although the majority of them are amazing warriors, you have some who slipped through the cracks and turned out to be a piece of shit. learned to judge individually.
@@angelvazquez2112 You're the fanboy who said people complain about this and that but us Marines have mREs and have to eat snake shit to survive in the barracks. Blow me dude. Marine is like the mcdonalds on a crowded block. You're not special. Just another meat head. Literally anyone can do it. You need an ASVAB OF 13 to become a marine general.
He’s right. People will get bored talking to him for a long time. Only Jocko has d energy n endurance to bear this guy, coz he knows d moves. Jiu jitsu.
jacko do you think the pod cast could be put on the local radio station here in Australia please .your pod casts are extremely inspirational and I think there would be a benefit to many other listeners .the operations cost of keeping up to date with your pod cast is getting expensive and iv found they are trying so hard to sever the connection .regards nature.
185 is the best episode ever. Mike is like a real guy, a Joe Dokes. And I've seen, and listened to, every podcast multiple times. It's as if he isn't looking for a job at Echelon Front.
Idk, man. Roger Hayden was good and the Green Beret Vietnam commando, cant think of his name. He was on 3 times. He was awesome. He became a writer after the war
I saw Mitch on some video he shot while eating at a restaurant an some perpetrator was acting like he was a former SEAL an Mitch Pulled his card..an was Not Happy. Several years ago an now hes here.
Roofing is literally a family thing for me. I remember I got suspended from school when I was 16. My dad made me go to work with them he had his own roofing business . My job was bring the bundles at 1st I was thinking no problem until he said no power ladder I had to walk them up. At the end of the day he still paid me though witch I thought was cool as hell
I have wondered for quite a while now what it would look like if we had only one group of special forces teams. I guess they could be their own branch but that doesn't seem likely. So there would need to be a choice as to which branch but I would think it would be a tie between the Army and the Marines {which is part of the Navy actually}. I do think all ships should be Navy and all air units should be air force. Kind of like they just did with space force - All satellites are now in one branch.
So I strictly listen to this podcast (and many others) on Apple Podcast, but I caught the bit at the end where Echo mentions that Mitch is the biggest guest they’ve ever had on the show. And Mitch says Echo is pretty jacked himself. Curiously I found this episode since Jocko low key inserted “if you wanna see what Mitch looks like” (or this could have been in the SOG podcast I can’t recall) “check out the video on RU-vid” ...so hear I am! And all I can say is HOLY SHIT ECHO IS JACKED!!! I thought he was this tall scrawny white kid that can scrap for idk how many episodes I’ve listened to and I was SOOOO wrong. PS. The second episode that I ever listened to (of this podcast) I was scrolling through the episodes, looking for another episode with Echo because the back and forth with “what if’s” and scenarios of how would you handle something was so good I was trying to hear something like that again. Little to my surprise, he’s in all of them! So I’m apart of the 1% that listens till the very end because “Factually” it’s one of the best parts of each show. Haha
How do I get In touch with jocko.. It may sound funny but somebody has to know. I have a book in life but joining going back to the French foreign legion with jocko as a new influence. How do I ask him questions
@@jessicacabanillas7713 thank you for responding, Ill have to make one. I just really need something. Nothing is wrong with me but i haven't had Friends for years and not being able to keep a girl because I'm now wanting to be in the Legion or volunteer against Isis in Syria or join the fight in Ukraine against tyranny I have not been able to maintain balance after so much loss and making sacrifices for my dreams on top of it.
I can't imagine deploying overseas to that bullshit and then coming home to hear people talk about how someone making fun of you is literally violence and gives them PTSD and shit like that. I would probably fly off the handle at people every day.
I believe him 100%, but how he answers kinda makes you wonder. Bro, be a little more descriptive. On your next interview don't make them drag answers out. Yes and no is not enough. Thanks for your service bud
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aL7xYQ6dz8U.html Here’s the link for the fight of Mitch in the speedo getting KOed in 30 seconds. Crazy ass fight.
I'm 16 and I wanna be a Navy SEAL but u can't because I have an eye disease that DQs me from joining the military. (Even tho I meet the eyesight requirements, I still can't join because of this dumbass rule)
J Ditsfights256 I was in a similar predicament. Look into law enforcement. Idk if you’ll still be excluded but usually they’re more lenient. And if you get into the feds, there’s stuff you can do where you actually operate alongside spec ops. For example, DEA had FAST teams (new name now), USMS SOG, FBI HRT, etc.
Wow, really couldn't stand listening to this guy. love Jocko podcast and am so amazed by all the people he has on but this guy was not enjoyable. Was painfully slow moving and after a thousand times of using the word "like", I had to turn it off. Seems like he complained so much and just got so tired of listening to him.
Dont complain about Mitch, Jocko is the one who asked boring questions, it is well known fact that Mitch will not talk about tactics or any details of missions, it's his way of respecting the brotherhood! Jocko tried to force it and Mitch wouldn't change, not even for Jocko! There is so much more to this guy, Jocko did not do a good job!
mgm life I see both sides of that statement. Shit is still very fresh w this guy. I understand why he only spoke so much but I can understand on an interview standpoint that Jocko would ask the questions. Mitch can answer as in depth as he wants. Still a better podcast episode than most of the crap out there
Hey brother, I didn't like the interview and I'm not even close to being an Idiot. Mitch complained the entire interview and I was rather shocked by his attitude. Now as far as you attempting to disparage others for not holding your views on life, rather childish. I'd suggest you read more Jocko- Start with the "Way of the Warrior Kid", I think it might reach your maturity level.
@@kengriffin1722 Here you are trying to teach me a lesson and you go off and do the same thing I did. If you would have stopped at just calling me childish you wouldn't have crossed the line and insulted my maturity level....so close to doing something right and you blew it because you couldn't get off of your moral high horse. By the way, I am sorry if I insulted you and anyone else, it was not my intention to disparage anyone; I just like to support the podcast and I feel negative ratings hurt the podcast and it doesn't help to get Jocko's message out there.
Finally a human who isn't trying to be in terminator robot mode. That's just so gay. Be a regular human that kills terrorists for a living. Move on man, have fun, it's so annoying
Thank you for having Mitch on the podcast. Its good to hear from a SEAL how doesn't like running and working out and still made it through. I always kinda assumed all SEALs were into all those things.
Seriously... but at the same time I find it refreshing how real he is. Just because Jocko might not agree with what he has to say doesn’t mean he’s wrong
Wonder if Jocko would ever have someone how was considered the enemy on the podcast. Like a deradixalised jihadi? To get inside his mind and hear the two perspectives.
Ha. I got fucked up playing Dodgeball. I was on a jail Cell Extraction Team and my boss thought it would be a good idea to play dodge ball during our training. My opponents were strong guys. Someone threw hard. I went to catch the ball. The ball caught my left pinky finger and completely broke it. I had to get two surgeries and pins. I was on workman's compensation for seven weeks.
Not sure if this will get lost in the comments but is it possible to get a podcast with “Drago” Thomas dzierian. Love your work man hope the best for you.
In all honesty, making decisions when bored is most if not all the times that I made some Pretty “questionable” decisions. It’s up there with emotional decision making
Yeaaa I definitely didn’t feel like their energies completely matched at times. In particular in the beginning and at the end. The middle ground they seemed to have pretty good flow, aside from the bump in the road about being asked about the IEDs, you can tell that resurfaced some bad memories for Mitch. I think the difference is mainly is that Mitch probably Loved being a SEAL just as much as Jocko did, but it doesn’t absorb all aspects of his life especially not after being out, whereas Jocko even though he’s retired he is still hard wired in his day to day life as a Navy SEAL.
