I've watched all of the McRaven's interviews out there, and this one is just remarkable. I think because of the fact that both of them were SEALS, Jocko knows how to ask the right questions, and in other times, when McRaven was interviewed by civilians they usually don't know what are the really good questions. So this one really gave me new informations about this amazing Admiral. Thank you Jocko, this is truly the best podcast episode ever.

Fantastic episode.. I just bought ‘Make Your Bed’ and I’ll read it tonight. When you have lived a useless life like I have, an insincere and inauthentic life watching humble and real men talk about their journey through experience and life is for me painful. A wasted life like mine cannot be turned around but watching interviews and discussions like today’s episode reminds me of my failures, my lack of insight, the selfish choices and missed opportunities and it’s good for me to feel the harsh regret and drown my mental anguish in booze and self pity. It’s my way of paying my debt. I have to enjoy watching and listening to people who live powerful righteous lives. It’s not a lesson learned because there is no where else for me to go and accepting banality is difficult but again I am very grateful that I have the luxury of listening and watching the superb guests on this podcasts and my shame and cowardly nature is given a good solid punch in the face. Great episode.

I think life can be turned around quite quickly if you do two things. Look forward, and start something new, almost immediately, preferably with as few delaying questions as possible. I highly recommend taking up an instrument or sport and spend time on it every day. Instruments are nice because you can bring them into your home and go out into the world with them later. Making music makes life very worthwhile 🙂. For me skiing is another such activity but it is seasonal.

If you're breathing today is a new day. You ALWAYS have the highest potential within you. Every moment you can begin again. At any point, at any age. Get help for what I sincerely feel is depression and or PTSD. What ever trauma you have suffered you can survive and thrive. You are a survivor to this point, you are strong. The strong need help too. Best wishes and prayers for your future victories in your precious life.

@@maddog7795 I like goggins, he’s an inspiration and a patriot and did more for the country than I did and for that has my respect. But I think he’s got too much ego and doesn’t model how to be a team player. I’ve heard he rarely was able to go on deployment and would let his seal team down because he would destroy his body doing unnecessary workouts. Goggins is great for personal inspiration but I don’t think him and jocko see eye to eye about humility and mission over everything.

The C130 crash that is talked about in this clip. I was stationed in the PI at the time. I worked out of the boat pool in those days a young e1,2, or 3 at the time. I had to take a LCM8, boat with a dumpster on it to collect the debris. Our air sea rescue boat was on sceen a long time foe that incident. Wow i was listening to this podcast and i was amazed that i knew of this incident.
