Applying these principles can get addictive, in a good way-the best way. Start, just start. The principles Jocko teaches (here, his other books, and on his podcast) are solid, time tested, and objectively proven to not just work but are the foundation of personal achievement and good human interactions. He would be the first to say this is not some "new secret information" that he alone figured out, but learned from other great leaders. It's too bad we can't upload/download this to our offspring, each new person has to learn it for themselves.
I can honestly say Jocko has changed my life. My mindset and thought process has completely changed after taking in his wisdom. I might not be perfect now but each day I am a little more disciplined and a little bit stronger. Thanks Jocko.
I treat this book and this video specifically as my bible in that I turn to it every time I’m feeling lost or like I can’t get things right. One intent listening of this clears the mind and I replace the stressful thoughts with the words Good and Go
I thought the best advice Jocko gave was to write down everything you plan on doing the next day. I started doing it and it's really helped a lot. Seeing my tasks for the day and crossing each one off over the course of ghe day is extremely satisfying. I've started small but I'm planning on building up as time goes on.
Listened to this so many times I had a dream I joined the military and Jocko was my drill instructor. He only volunteered on the weekends..inspiring quotes 20:05 29:10 1:00:05 1:15:00
Being from a long military background, this is the kind of barking attitude that lights a fire in my belly. Not only have i started making a difference in my own life, now im affecting others to make a change in theirs... By simply doing the work n leading by example. Thx Jocko fer helping me n others find what we have lost n have been searching for. A million times THANK YOU!
Possibly the dumbest comment I read in a long time. The brain needs sleep to allow essential functions that lead to health and well being, including hormonal and immune system balancing, and yes, maximum performance from a physical point of view. There is not a single elite athlete in the world in ANY sport that does not sleep enough. Not one. Similarly, most extremely successful business people sleep more than you think. It's just that they go to bed early, not waste time watching TV or other entertainment, and get up very early. "Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise", a saying of Benjamin Franklin in Poor Richard's Almanack. And billionaire businessman Ted Turner was famous for using almost as a mantra the phrase "“Early to bed, early to rise, work like hell, and advertise”. Not sleeping is for ignorant people, not for smart people
