@@lorenzohardy7568 Exactly folks running with a narrative..The interview a saw with Mr.Dalvin he basically said the whole album was done when they were searching for a record label deal.
@@crystalgibson5505 correct literally the whole album was done and they tweaked a few things. Devante swing doesn’t get enough credit for the work he did.
Believe me when I say that 90s r&B is untouchable....This group Jodeci with 2 sets of brothers is still in fashon..Devante Swing ,,,a group member and the producer is genius on every track he layed..
back then most people valued talent and then the money that comes with it. now it's all about flashing the style and money with boring talent. everything now is overly produced, undercurrated and massively overrated thanks to social media lowering the bar so low turtles can crawl over it.
Things were definitely different then...Real love inspired the music...People had Morals and Integrity. Now those things are abnormalities. Not saying we didn't have issues back then, but things are much, much worse than they ever were.
About to be a first time father to a son and after hearing this song my whole life as a child, hearing it now as a man about to start a family, it's a completely different song and a million times more significant.
I dedicated this to my now wife of 32 years, when we were having our now 31-year-old daughter. She is still my queen and our daughter is out of college and doing great things. Black love is a beautiful thing.🥰
@@willjenkins3529 Thank you, he is 32, drives tractor trailers, no jail, drugs or guns, good credit, luxury car and is a loving boyfriend to my future daughter in law ❤️ I am Blessed and patiently waiting for a grand baby after they are married
I love how they mentioned the most precious thing was raising a family together🙌🏽 you don’t hear many artist mentioning happy homes and being one unit jodeci never misses, it’s crazy how we will never have music this good and soul touching again❤️
But DeVanté had already written most of it before Kim porter this was already written I hate that Al b Sure went on there and said he wrote the whole song like no!! You wrote some of it.. 🤦🏽♀️
Think I was a freshman or sophomore in HS...remember exactly where I was when I heard this/saw video for the first time...in my dining room ironing...ran to the TV in the living room, like who is this?!?!
Its extremely rare for dudes as young as they were to be able to produce, write, & sing music of this caliber...that whole first album was uniquely epic. Shame on ol dude who slept on their demo, he the one who shouldve got fired. Almost robbed the world of some of the best RnB we were ever given!
@@A1-Act That wasnt all, they also performed another song. No excuses once you hear K-Ci's voice w/ Devante's production. I Gotta Love aint that wack for early 90s & they personally chose as a label to push it as a debut single overall the gems they produced. The legendary Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis literally produced a song that sound just like it for Sounds of Blackness' first album(their best album). In the age of MC Hammer, they cant fool me with calling any of Jodeci's music wack.

It's sad those golden days are gone so quick, the only saddest part is that they don't make this type of music anymore.90s generation you are the best 🤙😍👏♥️🥰💯💪🤝
Yall gotta stop saying this. This was done before they met Al b sure. Al b sure only wrote the so your having my baby part. Most of the album was done before they met Al b sure he did tweak it some but most of it is Al b sure.
Totally agreed. My favorite work besides Jodeci by DeVante is Mary J Blige I Don‘t want do to anything from the What‘s the 411? Album. Not only one of the most underrated songs from Devante as a composer and producer, but also one of the most underrated ones by Mary J
Brother, you have been blessed and "nothing more precious" be playful, patient, loving, and understanding towards them and they will love and respect you all there days. Blessings and pray for your children and wife.
"If I ever lose you, tell me where would I go, life would have no meaning, And I pray that you would always stay with me." Every good woman needs to hear this!
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14❤️ Please don’t take this lightly guys repent today, no day is promised so do it now, here’s the sign you’ve been looking for. God loves you and so do I❤️
Mannn Jodeci was and is still my favorite group of all time. They were just THAT iconic and had that shine. You couldn’t tell me growing up in the 90s as a man you didn’t want to be a member of Jodeci! Mannn…I just wish they didn’t have the bad experiences that they encountered that altered their gifts. I would have LOVED to see what they would have done if they were consistently dropping music. Just iconic, simply! Would LOVE to see a versus of them vs Dru Hill. They had similar music and sounds! I know it’s gotta be a great reason to bring them together though than just the versus. New music has to be promoted etc.and of course getting the group all together as well. But would love to see it!
I know I’m not the only one who can help singing’ “ FOREVER SHENENEHEEHHH!!” whenever this song comes on 😂😂😂. If you know, then you know! Lol The good ole 90’s!
I'm 37 and I agree with you about bringing this type of music back ,but today's youth wants to listen to trash that sounds alike so they can feel cool and stay ignorant ...this type of music definitely needs to make a comeback but if not I will just listen to this and keep it moving...
I always loved how they mentioned the most precious thing is raising a family together, you don’t hear too artists highlighting the importance of raising a family. Al B Sure wrote a magnificent song and Jodeci was the perfect ones to sing it. They really took this song to different heights. It’s crazy how we will never have music this good ever again.
@@lisabradford8180 80s had MJ sorta RnB, he sang great. also after 7 came out in the late 80s. Luther and Linnell Richie had hits in the 80s, also babyface, bobby brown, Gerald Levert. Johnny gill etc. so i guess the 50s started it with groups like Frankie Lyman and the teenagers, to the 60s and the temptations, to heatwave of the 70s, bobby brown 80s and the 90s with the goats Boyz II men, After7, 7mile, mint condition, Donell Jones, Soul 4 real. sorry I so love RnB. 5 greatest decades for RnB. and the early 2000s. white boys do like good music.
90's music is a whole vibe by itself! From the mid 80's thru the early 2k's some of the greatest music was made. Prince, MJ, Janet, Whitney, Luther, Freddie Jackson, all the male r&b groups.....I would be here all day naming these legendary artists. I'm thankful I was there to experience that musical Era! Even the hip hop was better then bc it wasn't filled with materialism, murder and drugs!
I love JODECI I met devante in London I believe it was between 2006 - 2009...and I've never met a nicer person...after they performed in Wembley my friends and i found out that they were to be at the hotel in the foyer...we thought the info we got wasn't real but we still went along ONLY TO FIND them chilling and talking to ppl there....I was shocked but happy. When my sister and i saw devante we offered to buy him a drink and he was TOTALLY SHOCKED (I guess he was used to young girls asking him for drinks) and after looking stunned for a while he said only if you want too.....he only made us buy him ONE drink and he was so humble with it....after standing with us and talking for a while he went and walk around alittle.....then he came back to where we were (always accompanied with his assistant and friend)and I asked him if he was looking for any new talent and could i sing for him and he said sure hes always looking for new talent....we went over to where the sofa was(my sister, best friend, devante, his assistant and I) and then i sang for him....and I'll never forget those words he said after i sang which was "give this girl my number right now" I thought i was dreaming lol....after that he chilled with us on the sofa and we spoke for about 1hr....about life and all sorts....we all spoke like when you speak to your siblings...even though in my head I was screaming (devante is really talking to us lol) anyways after, he said he was going back to his hotel room so we said it was nice meeting him and was just about to leave...then I asked him when should I call and he said he was leaving for America the next day so he would be back in the studio around Wednesday which was three days away...I said OK I will call him then we went home. Wednesday came and I went to call his phone and his assistant answered, I said can I speak to devante and she said 1min....he came on the phone and I was like hi devante I don't think you will remember me but....(and before I could finish he was like) yes I remember that voice your _ _ _ _ _😮 I was shocked😮, I was like wow you remembered my name😊 and he was like "of course how could I forget a voice like that "🤗 anyways long story short we planned that he would bring me over to America and have me in the studio.....but being the clumsy CLUMSY girl I am, I lost his number😕😢😢😢😭😭😭😭😭....but best experience EVER....THANKS DEVANTE for just being who you are....A REAL GENUINE NICE GENTLEMEN 😊
Forever my lady is a true classic jodeci is a phenomenal singing group. Their voices are beautiful. They are fresh talented golden black men so high above this world. Oh yeah baby... This song uplifts all women. Thank you jodeci. Yes I'm a big big fan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
God almighty, can we please go back to this time when people actually cared about one another and grooved to this music. Minneapolis North High baby!!! Class of 19--....I won't say!! 🤪🤪🤣🤣
I was in the 6th grade when this song came out and set ablaze R&B. I'll be 42 next month and hands down, it is STILL a force to be reckoned with among QUALITY in R&B hits!
I'm 42 aswell. I remember like it was yesterday...this was Jodeci first song I eva heard...it was ova after that...best rnb group of all time imo... 90's had the best music BAR NONE
I am glad to have grown up to music like this. This is classic music that never goes out of style regardless of trend. Jodeci is a legend ALWAYS. They are the true GOATS of R&B and I hope one day they get their flowers. They deserve it.
I waited 9 months to play this to my now wife after finding out she was carrying my son. Our baby is born healthy and strong. And watching them at b.e.t awards was amazing Jojo in of them looked in great shape specially Jojo. I can feel a new album coming soon.
Oh my goodness. My memories were locked up for years! This is beautiful and it brings back so much nostalgia! I know I’m not the only one thinking of an ex 😂 -August 9, 2024 11:44PM(NorCal)❣️
The lead singers raspy soulful voice and the richest harmonies in the business makes this group one of the greatest and most talented r&b groups out there. Have everyone of their albums.
