@@gabrielsilvas692It’s common knowledge the silent gen aged much worse than the generation after, and so on unti gen z which seems to be generally aging badly. My grandpa 20 in 1955, looked ancient, partly from early male pattern baldness (no treatments then). My aunt, a few years younger than Biden looked 30 at age 20 in 1966. Different styles, diet, no sun block, other factors (which others correctly lay out in more detail below-I didn’t want to get too long winded lol) tended to age people more than modern day.

@@katvtay I think, also, people just "grew up" much quicker, back then. By the time you were 25 you had a family of four kids and a career. You had to be an "adult." Today, it's much more acceptable for people to still be partying, playing video games, etc., and not settling down and starting a family until they're in their 40's.

These people are so old that all they have in their minds is the old ways and they physically cannot change with the world because of how the brain works. They may know what is best for America 50 years ago, but they don't know what is best for us in the present. Personally if they are of retirement age, they shouldn't be allowed to stay in office, and there should be much more rotation. We can't come together and move forward as a country if all we have is the same people doing the same things and don't leave.

The Constitution requires us to be at least 30 yo to serve in the US Senate, which he just barely was when he was first sworn in in January 1973 (his DOB is Nov 20, 1942). Look at history and you'll see that by age 29 in 1974 everybody had experienced an immense amount of turmoil, stress, chaos (assassinations, Nixon, the Vietnam war and veterans returning home come quickly to mind). Good reasons to look 'old' by age 29.

I posted most of this as a comment but I'll put it here. People "looked older" because the hormonal and mental profile of that period was better than today. We're supposed to have more testosterone, but we don't. Everyone looks like a baby today. Don't confuse having more testosterone with being old. In any case, testosterone actually lowers with age. Older generations actually aged slower, and which is why they tend to look similar in age to their sons and younger family members. It's funny: first they look older (because of testosterone and other hormones) and then they stay like that for a few decades or more, barely aging. This was the case for Biden by the way. I've seen videos of him in his late 50s where he looks just like this here, but with more lightish brown hair.

Hmm, interesting, why don't you say that about the supreme Court?? A president has term limits, genius. The SC is the problem. They can literally serve their entire lives, yet funny how no one is throwing a fit about them. They should also be elected by The American people. We see what happens when they are appointed by a psychopath. We get stuck with the most corrupt "justices" in our history. Most of them don't even deserve that most elite title. You're never going to have the perfect representative. Voting is a little bit like snake handling while playing hot potato, hoping the snake doesn't bite you and bites the other dude instead. To a degree I think people have unrealistic expectations of politicians and don't hold the wider system more accountable including both major corporations and the citizen body. We have crappy a representatives because we put them there. If we want better representatives we have to work on having a more assertive citizen body capable of holding power accountable through the systems which have been set up to allow us to do so. And the longer we wait to do that the more and more those systems are going to be eroded or turned off.

He's been trying very hard to get policies passed that would improve lives (student loan forgiveness, gun control, reducing the cost of insulin, pro-union policies). He has to work with congress, and congress almost never approves due to bundling and party politics. That's our system. It's good because it prevents a president from ruling like an autocrat. It's bad because one party can outnumber the other, and when paired with a president like certain presidents, can end up resembling an autocracy.
