When you went into your description of why you're going after folks like DemonMama and Vaush, it reminds me of, "pressure testing," from sparing. Essentially how strong is your opponent's posture? In Aikido I literally learned how to stand from taking thousands of falls. In art, I learned how to improve by learning how to avoid countless obvious mistakes. In debate an argument should be presented as testable and disprovable. Otherwise there's no reason to believe that it holds water.

Something I always like about Aikido was that it's ultimate goal was to try to make allies out of enemies. The thought being that everyone is useful and that everyone has something unique they can teach, even if their lesson is simply how to deal with them. To mean this means that Aikido aims to really not have anyone who is strictly your enemy. Aikido also teaches that a person is usually most off balance when they are most committing to an attack. So in Aikido you attack the attack but you relax when they are not attacking. In a way Aikido is purely reactive and it gives the choice of to aggress or not to the attacker. In this way Aikido teaches the opponent that they are in control of their own vulnerability to being punished. It teaches them that you are willing to respect theirs boundaries if they are willing to respect yours. It also teaches you how to have good arguments. This is why it is so easy to spot the lazy activists because they back down the moment you engage. Often times they have never been able to defend their positions because they have never been asked to defend them. If anything the whole idea of debate is an illusion because an effective debate is indistinguishable from a discussion. Proper communication does not seek misunderstanding or semantic point scoring. Proper communication seeks to separate the signal from the noise. Proper communication, even when talking about bad things, should at least be satisfying due to it being about the truth. In this way communication should resolve once the need to communicate passes. So many chatters talk shit to convince themselves and have no idea how to convince other people. They aren't listening to other people's arguments themselves. So they speak in a manner that kind of expects to be ignored. They say the same thing over and over again because even they struggle to believe it. It's kind of equal parts sad and ridiculous.
