Paul Shaffer host a super session jam onboard the Keeping The Blues Alive 2020 cruise. We are in a storm with wicked rough seas and people are just getting seated, so the video is a little shaky at the beginning.
Saw him live in Toronto late Feb 2020. I am not sure he knows how good he is ! God bless him. I would definitely pay to see him in an arena and even more in an intimate setting like a blues bar!
I would love to see Stevie Ray Vaughan play with kingfish. This would have been really amazing to see this. Stevie Ray Vaughan was the best blues guitar player I’ve ever seen in my life.
For anyone skipping Paul Schaffer's introduction, that is the tremendous Will Calhoun and Doug Wimbish of Living Colour on drums and bass respectively.
At 6:33 Joe is adjusting his Klon Centaur pedal. I would like to point out that the pedal is probably worth more than Mr Kingfish's entire set-up. Point being.. Y'all don't need expensive gear to sound amazing
The whole performance was great. Joe B is my favorite of the soloists. His smooth tasty feel is Incredible. "Kingfish" sounds great too! Love the wah' action. Blues at its best right here.
I love that Mr. Shaffer has supported over many years (my favorite band since 87) living colour & appreciate his doing so for another favorite, Kingfish. My sincerest gratitude to Mr. Paul Shaffer
Why is there so much made of who is better I like Joes music and Kingfishes music they are both great guitarists and play well together their styles are different and its what makes them great. Long may it continue.
If Robin Trower was as young as they are and was up on stage he would be doing things that would be very difficult to copy , there's more to the blues then just 12 bars .
Much respect to all of these fine guitarists, playing so well with each other and not stepping on each other's toes. Kingfish is earning his moniker. Doug and Will are beasts but they stayed in the pocket and let everyone else shine! Excellent performance!
GREAT CRUISE TOLD KINGFISH --- HE WILL BE A SUPERSTAR ... AS I TOLD JOE BONAMASSA ... SOME 15 YEARS AGO -- ALSO LOOK OUT FOR ERIC STECKEL, ALBERT CUMMINGS JUST TO NAME TWO .... KINGFISH THEN TOOK 7 OF 7 BLUES AWARDS !!
Blues fest this weekend in San Diego. I'll be happy to see Kingfish fo sho... although every year I keep saying, why don't they ever have Joe Bonamassa at this fest??? Man.. these artists right here all together would be a treat
Great cruise .... then Covid ---- Hoping it gets safe ASAP so I can cruise with Joe Bonamassa and the other great acts. Kingfish was very humble and a delight to meet ! When he walked the ship... playing the blues ... yes, he stole it from Buddy Guy -- who did the same !
What a phenomenal lineup. As a blues fan for decades this is a stellar performance & the ONLY way I'd ever go on a cruise. Someday I'll get to do Joe's Blues Cruise & hopefully the phenomenal Beth Hart will be among those performing too.
I love how these great players get together and have fun ! Some people think tha "Purple man" was the greatest since sliced bread but he never got in the ring with cats like these guitarist !
I think we all agree what a great picker and bluesman the Kingfish is. Also, you'll notice, he has short thick fingers - as do I. That makes learning the instrument even more difficult. He is amazing.
@@fr7399 don’t be so sure of anything my friend... as I said I could be wrong! But I’ve watched him play with the great jimmy Vaughn and he basically got shown up and relied on his singing voice and hexatonic scale which is simple blues 101
Kingfish is on a SRV level. I've been playing for some time and yes he is that good. Just look at Joe watching him play in amazement. Not saying he beats anyone but he has un matched potential in this day and age of rock and blues amongst younger artists. His new signature Telecaster is awesome.
In terms to Colour and maturity, I really dig Josh Smith, he is not loud but has the Blues "Blabber", technically the most sound amongst the lot by a fair margin to be honest.
