I've heard this song years ago but every year my mind brings me back to this same song and it becomes more and more important to listen to this and take heave
Yeah, because he didnt sell his soul to the business, all these fake ass rappers get air time because they sold out. just like he says here about what the devil told him to do to get attention, with the slim jeans and aim your songs at party and fun.
Everything about this song is amazing. The production, arrangements, the singing on the hook, Joe's paranoia and Crooks truth. Followed by that guitar solo.
Korey Ghard when I tell people Joey is one of my top 5 I also tell them you gotta be going through some shit or be really intelligent to get why joe is one of the best
@@aaronhopkins9324 yessir Joe heavily influenced by Pac! He recites his bars openly & proudly n thats dope to me.. With age & maturity you can tell Joe grew into wanting to be a leader in the black community which is also a trait from Pac, Joey always cared for his people but to quote him 'hurt ppl hurt ppl' he prolly had enough shit up on his plate with the women & drugs.. Rappers like Pac Budden & Cole are important for the culture cus they give everything they have back to us, they use that mic for a different purpose than their own benefit.. you feel me?
@@HollerAtAlex very true. Kendrick to. Get tried hearing the same shit. But when u actually feel music rather than just hear u know that the are special
If you liked this make sure to listen to Walk with me, Downfall, State of you, Calm Down, Pray for me and Forgive Me. Joe is so underrated........what a shame.
Outcast, role reversal, world keep spinning (whole escape route album crazy), Mama Said, Pain won't stop, no love lost outro...jus to add a few more gems
I told him I just wanted to be the modern day Marvin Gaye He said you might wanna rethink that Cause I know where your father stay I'll possess him to pick up the chrome Pop you in the dome for trying to tell the people for what's going on FUCKING BEAUTIFUL.
ive heard this song over and over and over. Greats records will never get old they just get put away for a second then get dusted off and put back in the record player. one of the illest hiphop records ive heard in a while
I remember back in like 2013 when I got a CD from my buddy with some titled fresh hot jams in sharpie and this song was on it and still to this day I appreciated that very much this song has got me through the worst of the worst very underrated and the gutair solo at the end always tears me up man
Nobody messing with Joe Budden in making emotional and excellent albums, dude makes great music and his production is excellent and when it comes to hard core bars nobody messing with crooked I.
The first time I heard this piece of art I played it for a month straight. Side Note: As a non American I didn't even know Marvin Gaye was killed by his own father until this song.
Joe is awesome! And why? He's real, and he helps alot of people. This aint no complain, I for example am bipolar. And I write deep stuff because it feels good. Don't take medication cuz I've tried but it takes away my personality. So I for one Joe helps with he's brilliant music through life ups and downs. Your the man Joe!!
So nobody think there's something interesting about Crooked I's verse. There's Metaphors then there's just man spitting straight truth about the elite industry.
I've always said 20 years from now when future generations are working their way thru raps past...budden' work will rise to the top and be more property appreciated
Also I was blessed to open up for Joe in my city. My personal favorite rapper, and they always say you don't want to meet your "hero, or what ever you call it". When I met him I said "Thank you my n__ he said, .. nah thank you. Y'all on this wall right here, we need you, and thankful for people like ya'll. Real talk.
Hands down. Joey is one of the GOATS and I'll smack anyone who disagree's with me. Y'all youngins...don't bother me with that foolery. None of your sheep are fit to compete in this match....no names needed to mention-you know who you R......Kelly! LOL! #goatmc
Lia Bracey for really, not only is he an elite lyricist, he’s hands down the best scout in hip hop history.... The team he accumulated (the 4 quarters of the slaughter) (almost had Nino bless on there too). Dude deserves his props. He too sensitive off the mic though which is his only downfall.
Same hate to make excuses but deltession2kept me from being a great lyricist.I use to be told i was jusy as good as the greats lyrically but depressiom and not being able tp concentrate has always stopped me...maybe next life time
People who really know, know what this song is about, and just one more reason why Joe isn't as successful as he should be. There's only so high you can go so dope/good you can be. But if you don't "Pay That Price" You will never fully be recognized as a worldwide success.
i love joe's music but this man's ego fuck his carreer he did it in defjam with jay with em in slaughterhouse with his team on the podcast joe should be bigger music wise but it is what it is and for crook he makes real real rap music and theres only so much people who listen to real real rap
Exactly!. " aim my music towards the gangstas and whores, but i just wanted to be the modern day marvin gay" This is to funnel impressionable young people through the profitable prison systems.
Before this song i know that Marvin Gay died, but i didn't know how. until 'Crooked I' told the devil that "he wanted to be the modern day Marvin Gaye"..
