Phillip W. This generation isn't used to real music. And the newer generations will probably never hear Joe spit unless they have older brothers/parents that love Joe's music. It's the world we live in. True great music isn't mainstream.
Royce Da 5'9" is my favorite from slaughterhouse as far as rappin n yet sumtimes preference...but Joe budden maybe is the best song writer in slaughterhouse.
I feel the same way with crooked i . but joey on a solo track slaughterhouse can't out do him on solo joints. He gives raw emotion and meaning consistently in songs and has so much to say.
I always say Biggie taught rappers how to be smooth. Tupac taught rappers how to convey emotion. Joe Budden is the rare combination of both. It's why he's one of my favorite rappers. You never gotta wonder about Joe. Listen to the record you'll know everything about him. I relate to him more than any other rapper. UNDERRATED AS FUCK!

@michaellaboy that’s not it. That’s just a common myth. The issue with Joe is he’s ridiculously talented and he’s a A+ lyricist who’s massively underated. Because of all those positives his personality is too much ego and never wanting to listen along with drugs and drinking too much. Even with slaughterhouse he’d argue constantly about what tracks they should be on, his verse needs to be the longest, and how he’s the best. Listen to “slaughtermouse” he very lyrically admits it. He wasn’t taking advice from Eminem who sold 60+ million records and blew up 50 cent as well as being a prodigy of dr Dre. He was so high he started trying to rap like Royce and Joel with that fast flow knowing he wasn’t good at it but most importantly it just wasn’t who he is. Then add in all the fake beef with other rappers and labels because he talks way too much and all the domestic violence issues with the women. He’s a living breathing trainwreck and a massive liability and from what all other rappers have said he’s genuinely not good to be around there’s always issues or him just being annoying wanting attention. I say this with all due respect because Joe is one of the best mcs to do it. He’s not my top 5 but he’s def on my top 20. I hate that he’s underated and I think if he would’ve tightened up his act he would be a lot bigger. Cool part is he wound up being a podcaster which fits his radio host kinda personality.
Meeting Joe when I was a 15 yr old navy guy and watching him flourish into this man who deal with the same stuff I deal with showed me a lot. I really listen to everything he put out bc I deal with the same stuff. Jay z nas biggie. He's definitely up there with them and possibly the best period
Joeys said multiple times that he doesn't want to go hollywood, he doesn't want to deal with all of the stress that comes with being Super famous. He's had problems with drugs in his past and he don't wanna be near all of it in the music industry
